    Starting Over

Its a constant struggle for us all. I'm so grateful for this tool, than other times I hate it. Overall, I know it was the best decision for me. I know I need help controlling what goes into mu mouth. I desire weight loss, but I want to be healthy. I'm tired of my knees hurting, so I'm doing my best to make life changes. I am grateful for each pound that leaves my body, but I desire to not just loose, but to keep the weight off.

    stretch stomach lap band

The more healthy veggie/fruit smoothies I incorporated the tighter I became. I didn't want a lot of food, and I felt fuller longer. I didn't add protein to my smoothies unless I worked out. I found that my band began to slowly tighten on its own.

I have failed my band - SUPPORT GROUP

This maybe true. However, we all have a part to play in this journey. I think it so easy to blame someone else, when we know we haven't changed our eating habits or that we don't exercise at all. For me, its the very small things that set my weight off. I can't really have a lot of Snacks, rice, potatoes, etc. I heard some banders say that they had a 1/2 cup or a few table spoons of rice each night. Yeah, I can't do that. I've had to take the time to find out which foods work best for me, and which combination of exercise will get this weight off. My body is not really effected by 2 or 3 days a week in the gym. It just keeps me balanced. But if I'm 4 or more, its on! Our light switch has to come on, after we get off that surgery table.

I'm no expert, but I've been banded for a while. It seems that out if my 4 yrs of being banded, but I'm now learning so much. Are you drinking with your meals? I use to really struggle in this area, but I'm learning. You can drink up until the the time that I eat and then I don't drink for 15 to 20 minutes after. We are suppose to do 30 minutes, and sometimes I can wait 30 minutes, but its and up and down thing. You can also try to do a couple of days of all liquids. It really helps. We are here to encourage you.

    Emotional eating

Well said. I don't do enough of telling my mind to shut up. I feel like I have no choice sometimes, but I know I do. I'm doing much better with the emotional eating. I will say that I'm becoming more aware of it again. At some point I didn't even know this was an issue for me. I'm better and more aware. I'm trying to maintain my work outs. Sore muscles remind my mind (well a little).

Thanks. Being on this site has helped, but I have to do my part and respond. I've done so much better, but the real work is in the diet and exercise. My exercise was good yesterday, but the diet wasn't. Trying to do better.
  9. Mmmmm.... that sounds really good. I wi try that.

Wow! I'm 6.3 in a 10 band as well. I wish I could get to 7. I know this weight would be melting then. My stomach is not having it. As for the bread eating I would say to stay away as much as you can. There are times that I'm out and I have no choice. I was at a church meeting and they had subways. I didn't even know I could eat it. I went slow with it, but it went down and stayed down. I try to keep in mind the things that I couldn't really eat when I was much tighter and I try to stay away from them. I'm not perfect by any means. I just know for me, carbs are not my friends. Especially starches. Its good that you have started with your doctor. You are back in the saddle :-)

  13. Thsnks so much for this comment. It reaffirmed my belief. I'd done great on south beach, and it was all because of limited carbs and more Protein. I don't do well with the calorie counting. I do 2 egg whites and one whole egg with cheese most mornings, and when I do I'm full until lunch. I don't need the snack. I also enjoy my seafood. I honestly don't eat enough of it. I had some salmon out this week and it was like eating it for the first time in years (it hadn't been years, but it felt like it). I was banded 4 yrs ago. I was doing great into my 2nd years, but last year was an emotional roller coaster. I honestly don't count it. So I'm now getting back into my high protein meals. I know that most times this way of eating cutsb the cravings, but what do you wat when the cravings come?
  14. I love that comment. You can eat any meats?
