    food sits in upper stomach.

I did say that "I think it takes 4 hours". Absolutely consult your own doctor to find out the correct answer.

    hernia repaired???

It's a hiatal hernia that a lot of people have. It's a part of your stomach that pushes through your diaphragm up into your chest. It happens to a lot of people who are obese. I didn't tell people about my WLS so those I had to tell I was having surgery I told them that I was having that repaired and no one questioned it, worked out well for me.

My Band has a MIND of its OWN!!!!!!!

Mine is like that too! As you loose weight your band gets looser and you need another fill....also your hormones play a huge part. The week before my period I am so tight I can hardly eat and then I am back to "normal" after that. You are not alone I have the same weird stuff happen to me too!

    food sits in upper stomach.

When you start to feel a little pressure in your chest stop eating because if you continue that is when you will soon feel the food in your throat. The slower you eat and the more you chew your food the easier it will be to feel that pressure because it takes a while for the food that hits your stomach to register with your brain. Usually if I have eaten to much my stomach starts to create this Fluid to help push my food through and seeing that, that doesn't really work it makes there no room for the extra fluid in my stomach and that is when things start coming up on me. So it's important to eat slowly. To answer your question I think it takes about 4 hours give or take a little for food to fully go through the band because that is the time that most are given to leave in between meals. Hope my experience helped you out a little! =)

    Surgery 4-28, Camping 4-29

NO!!!!! I could leave it at that but I'll give you a little more detail..... People talk about this being a small surgery but it's not really. It's just small compared to like a tummy tuck. I was in a lot of pain after surg. It felt like a ton of bricks hanging from my stomach! I was on pain meds for over week and I'm not like a big baby or anything. You will probably have significant gas pains for a day or two after as well from all the gas they pump inside of you and it's no nice! You are going to be very week and I really feel you should not go and I think when you wake up from surgery you will be like "oh I get what they were saying now" lol!!! Good luck on your surgery I'm very excited for you!!!!!
  8. every once in a great while I have an odd day with like no restriction and can eat bread and a small slice of pizza but no I really don't eat it. Maybe I've had 3 slices in like 1 yr and 10 monts.

    Eating without drinking

I found it super easy to adapt to this. Not only does eating and drinking at the same time make the food pass through faster but it's something that I can't physically do. I can't fit the liquid and food in at the same time...it was easy for me to get use to.

    Your Goal

When I was banded on June 19, 2009 my goal was to weigh 125lbs and to do it all in the 1st year. =) Silly newbie I was. Now I am 1 year and 10 months post op and my more realistic goal is 138lbs. I hope to achieve that sometime in 2011. I find that a lot of us think big for ourselves and then reality sets in. My questions is, who out there had a similar thing happen to them? What was your goal before or right after surgery and what is it now?

What does "full" feel like for you?

Full to me is a tight/pressurized feeling in your chest (sometimes your throat if you have eaten way too much). Yup it def feels different. That was so weird at first to recognized what full felt like now but now I'm so use to it I hardly remember what the old full feels like. =)

    Not to Tell?

You will not be able to keep this from your husband. Believe me after almost 2 years I know from experience that anyone that you live with (unless they are children) will need to/have to know, you just can't hide it. I made the decision not to tell anyone. However, my husband and my folks seeing I live with them know as well. At first I don't think my husband took me seriously when I told him not to tell anyone because I found out right after I had the surgery that he told his mom which I made him take it back and tell her I had something else done. I just told him that it's a very private and personal thing to me and I don't want anyone to know. It's not fun to have people watch you and they will once they know you had weight loss surgery. Just last week I did end up telling a pair of friends because my husband and I are always going out to eat with them and after 2 years I could not hide it from them anymore. This time we went to their house to eat and my friends boyfriend cooked us dinner. He gave me such a large portion I though it would be insulting if I didn't explain why I couldn't eat that much. They were super cool about it but I also made it clear to them that its very personal and private to me and please not to tell anyone.....I'll let you know how that plays out haha.

    How did your relationship change?

For me everything changed for the better because as I lost the weight I was so much more of a happy person!! My husband wasn't not supportive but he definitely had his doubts prior to the surgery. He seems very supportive now because he knows it was the right decision for me.

    when meeting with the nutritionist

I would also write down exactly what you ate. The nutritionist knows like you said that all people seeking weight loss surgery clearly need help. I'm sure he/she will suggest healthier options for you and suggest that you try and stay away from the bad things. Although, they don't know how hard that is because they aren't food addicts like all of us. Just give it your best shot! Logging what I eat really helps me, I would suggest you do this going forward. When I don't log I eat lots of things that I don't realize I'm putting in my body and all those extra calories really add up and make my weight loss come to a hault. Good Luck!!!!!!

    Ignorant people

AAh this would be the reason I decided not to tell anyone. The lap band is not the easy way out at all. See can see my post on the Tri-Pod Effect http://ladylapband.blogspot.com/2011/02/tripod-effect.html but I will sum it up here. You need 1) The Lap Band 2) Healthier Eating Habits and 3) A more Active Lifestyle. Without all 3 the tripod will tip over. They all work together. I would suggest keeping who you give the information of your decision to a minimum. It has worked out great for me. It's really a very personal thing and you don't have to feel bad for not telling people.
  20. Hi Red! Congrats on your surgery date I remember when I got my surgery date and how excited I was, you must be over the moon! =) Everyone is different of course but it was not hard fr me right after surgery to stick to what the docs wanted me to eat. Honestly I was much too focused on the pain from the surgery to care about what I could/could not eat. Not that the pain was unbarable or anything, I am just a bit of a baby lol. I also did not find myself very hungry after surgery at all. Any hunger I did have was all in my head. If you can conquer head hunger than you are ahead of the game, it's a tough one and I'm still not completely there. Please keep up updated I want to know how your surgery goes and everything! Good luck!

When will the weight come off?

By the sounds of it - you are doing great!!! =) Perhaps you are eating more than you are really aware, is that possible?? I go through spells like this and the way I correct it is by writing down everything I eat for a while and that is when I become aware of "Oh yeah I ate that or this." So logging your food might help you out. Everyone is different so even though you are at 9cc you still might not be at your sweet spot.....maybe you should continue to get fills! Good Luck!
