Strange noise coming from my tummy

Nope....it's not just you. Since I had the surgery, my stomach makes noises too....Never did that before! It's funny!

    13 Weeks Post Op

Florida Pete.... CONGRATS....That is awesome, you are doing amazing! I was banded in December as well. Slightly over 2 months now. I've only lost 20 pounds. I hope with my 3rd fill I'll feel much more restriction. I was going to the gym at least 3 days a week, but this week was crazy hectic and didn't get a chance to go. Next week is the same thing. I'm hoping to get back into my workout routine soon and start to see more results. Can't complain about 20 pounds though.

    Sodium

Ya....try to stay away from that stuff.....I do and I think it helps! Plus I've been drinking lots of water and that is also helping. I've noticed that when I drink water I don't feel as bloated, my rings aren't as tight!

CONGRATS. That is awesome! I understand though. I'm 2 months out and have lost 20 pounds. I really wish it was more and I wish I was more restricted. I have my 3rd fill next week. Can't wait! Hope I start getting to the SWEET SPOT!

    Another fill-Down 18.4

Hi...I had my surgery 12/30 and I've only lost 20 pounds. I seem to lose 3 pounds and gain 3 pounds. I'm going for my 3rd fill next week and so looking forward to it. There are very few things I can't eat. What do you eat? I know I should stay away from carbs, but I'm a carbaholic and I wish I didn't want them. It's so hard! Anyway, CONGRATS on your weight loss. I'm glad you're doing well.

What can I expect after a fill

What you are feeling is normal. For me, on my first fill, I felt restricted for a day it seemed, then back to normal. Then I had a second fill and that helped a bit more because my snacking decreased. I think one more fill might be the trick for me, I hope.

    About The Port...?

WHOA....That is strange. For now, I can't see mine at all or feel my port. Thank God, that would weird me out, TOTALLY! I hope it stays that way too once I lose all my weight. For now, I can't feel it or see it!
  8. Hi. My doctor in Florida, charged a total of $14K this includes the surgery, fills/adjustments, nutrition appointments, pre op appointment, all for 1 year after the surgery. The only thing that was not included was my primary care visits (2), and the tests they had to run for clearance. These included (for me) and EKG, blood tests. I know some people have to do other types of tests, depending on the doctor. I didn't have the great opportunity of having my insurance pay for it, it was a policy exclusion. I paid out of pocket. That was tough, but it is worth it.

    AWESOME.......Congrats. I have 7 more pounds until I get there! CAN'T WAIT! I've been working so hard.....CONGRATS!
  10. WOW....I read these posts and say, when will I feel restricted. I really hope to God I never PB, but I think I might just have a situation seeing that I haven't really been thinking much about the chewing. What I would really like is to feel repulsed by carbs. I can't seem to stay away and that's probably what's slowing down my weight loss.

    Terrible shoulder pain

Yep....sounds pretty normal. I had that too. My best approach and what worked for me was breathing exercises. Take a very deep breathe, then let it out slowly. Do this a few times. It should help.

    Hello and Happy Monday!

Hi All: I was banded on 12/30. Only lost 16 pounds so far, that is super disappointing, but I'm happy I've lost some...I'm making small goals for myself now and really working hard this week to get another 10 pounds off by March 7th. That's about 2 weeks. I know it sounds unrealistic, but I'm really going to try for it.

Half Way!!!! - 71 lbs!!!!!! Four months Post-op!!

WOW.....I'm almost 2 months post op and only lost 16 pounds. I wish!!!!! I must be doing something wrong! CONGRATS though, that is AMAZING!
  14. Hi.....26 pounds??? That's excellent!!! CONGRATS. So far I'm only down 14 pounds. This all happened within the first week of being banded. Now I'm kind of just sitting there. I go for my first fill 2/4 so I'm excited about that. I also started going to the gym so that's good too. Right now I can pretty much eat anything. I just do it in small quantities, nothing like I was doing before banding. In the morning, I've been having protein shakes, lunch I have some chicken and dinner maybe a boiled egg with tomatoe. Not such an exciting menu. I've had bread, rice, veggies, pasta (not a lot), as long as I stop when I'm satisfied I haven't had any bad episodes. How about you? What are you eating and how much? Oh...I've made it a habit to serve myself on a small plate.

  15. Thank you for the picture comment. I appreciate your words. I've been banded 3 weeks today and have only lost 13 pounds. I'm not disappointed I'm just looking forward to my fill in 2 weeks! Need to lose this weight.

  17. Hi....I'm really glad to hear that you're doing ok. My sister is really interested in the sleeve, particularly in Mex. Is there a way I can connect her with you?? Hope you have a speedy recovery...

Can someone tell me about Max-Out-Of-Pocket?

WOW....I can understand that concern. However, I would have rather paid 4K than 14K. The only thing I do know is that I'm glad I did it. I had my surgery almost 2 weeks ago this Tuesday and I've lost 16 pounds. That is what I LOVE!!!! Good luck! -Yvette

    Banded 12/30

Hi December Bandsters: I was banded on 12/30 and so far so good. I go back to work next Monday and I'm glad too, I needed this time to recover. So far I have to say my biggest challenge is pain at the port site, supposedly that's normal. I've lost 14.5 pounds so far this includes the weight I lost pre-op on the liquid diet. I think I'm doing well. I have to admit, I feel ready to be at the soft foods stage now. I really need to move on. I know its a process but my body feels ready for it. For now I'm being good and sticking to the creamed stuff. I'm excited to see how much I lose before my first fill. I have my appointment with the surgeon 1/14/09. I don't think I'll get the fill then, but we'll see. Anyway, hope everyone else is doing well.

Day 5 Post-Op-- The Treasure (?) in the Closet

OH CONGRATS....That is such a fabulous feeling. Good for you. Enjoy shopping in your closet.

    mind altering

WOW....That was a great post. Let me tell you it was like I was reading all about me and what I've been going through. I have to say that I agree 100%. Today I actually cried. I couldn't believe what I had done to myself. Anyway, I did come to the conclusion that this surgery was necessary for me to live longer and a healthier life. I'm glad I did it. It's just tough just being on liquids for so long. Can't wait to be in the mushy stage. I think I'm ready for the mushy stage, but I'm waiting. Don't wanna jump the gun and make a really bad choice. Well, thanks for that post. It was good.

Who will this change who i am

Hi.... Those questions you posted are good ones...I just started. I had surgery this Tuesday and thank God as each day passes, I feel more like myself again. Will this surgery change you? I think definitely it will. For me, I'll feel energized, excited daily, and more of the person I think I am already. Will it change who you are? No way....I know I'll always be who I a no matter what I look like on the outside, just an enhanced more vibrant person. I do not blame you asking yourself these questions. I've often wondered how I'm gonna be when I get to my goal. Each time I picture it, I always leave myself smiling, knowing its going to be great!

    New in Wash.

WOW...Sounds like you're a bit unsure. Well, let me tell you about my experience. I like many of us on this site have been on every diet imaginable, I've been overweight my entire life, and was finally sick of it. I knew lap band would be my solution. I went to a seminar, found out information, then saw the surgeon, my primary for clearance, did 2 nutritional classes, 1 pre-op class and last Tuesday had my lap band put in. Of course I'm summarizing, this took at least 3 months to get to the surgery date. That's only because I self-paid. My insurance would not cover this surgery. Anyway, I guess what I'm getting at is that you have to be sure that you really want to do this. It's a hard process like any other but in the long run will resolve the weight issues you're facing. Recovery for me hasn't been too hard, but it has taken me a few days to feel like I can move on my own again. My suggestion would be to definitely go to the group session, read all the blogs you can on this site, they are super helpful, then dig deep within yourself and ask yourself is this something you really want to do for yourself. If so, the lap band is for you, if not you might think about other ways to resolve your weight issues. Hope this helps you.
