  1. I was banded Dec 17th. Didnt get my 1st fill until early March(doctor is sort of an idiot!) and that 1st fill I only felt restricted a little bit. Yes, I am calling tomorrow, to say "hello?! need another fill!" I can't believe this! this is my only meal of the day(weekends are bad to stick to 3 meals a day for me). Just wanted some + input here. I know I should have stopped at 1-2 slices. But unfortunately there is no surgery for emotional eating. I hardly ever feel physical hunger, its all in my head mostly(hence the emotional eating) Soooo, do you think I need another fill? or to kick my own arse!? love you all thanks for all of your help and support! oh, and I am at 211-213 or 208 on a good day  and started out at 250 before surgery. So I AM on my way!
  2. and lapbandtalker, when you say 3 bites and soon....what do you mean? after fills? just curious
  3. so do you think i need a fill? i looked my paperwork over my 1st fill was 3/09 less than a month ago. when i first got it i felt more restriction.
  4. you are right jachut, if I was eating in front of someone, then I would have moderated my eating out of shame and still would have been satisfied with a piece or 2. but since no one was looking, what the heck, didnt want it to go to waste....so i ate the whole dang thing! so youre right, its probably not a fill i need, but to be fulfilled in some other way:) but im kinda confused, i can see both perspectives here, so im going to call my doctors office tomorrow and see what they say, of course i dont tell them about my eating habits! they wouldnt give me a fill even if i needed one! they are really strict there! i really dont feel my stomach growl anymore, unless i havent eaten for hours and hours, but then its a different kind of growl than before the band, almost like i can go all day and not eat!
  5. yes you are so right! and I have been having more of an attitude with my surgeon, he can be so arrogant sometimes!
  6. Thanks for your replies! I cant wait for tomorrow so I can call and request a fill! its depressing to be at a planteau already when I had wl surgery! They told me I wont be able to tolerate bread etc....well it doenst bother me at all now! Sometimes its hard to get into my surgeon too.....so hopefully I can get in soon! thanks again! wishing you all skinny and healthy days ahead!
  7. I know, this is a no-brainer. Of course men are going to respond to women when they are less overweight. But I wanted to hear some experiences with this. I am freeking 40, never married, I was engaged once upon a time. Been in several relationship dated several men. Kept on hearing--"see me when you lose the weight" "Its not you, its me" "I'm not ready for a relationship(but he marries a few months later" blah blah blah, you all have heard the stories. I still want to know there is hope for married and children.!!!! someone give me hope! and no I am not going to go back to any of those duds that wouldnt accept me before! NO WAY JOSE! They don't deserve me!
  8. Hi Teresa, thanks for your post! I am 17 days out from surgery, and feel like I can eat anything and however much I want! Kinda scary! But I am anticipating that my 1st fill will hinder this! I can't say I am hungry, just mentally hungry. My nutritionist told me I will feel hungrier as the 6 weeks approaches. I guess thats on main reason why they have us on strict diets for the 1st 6 weeks, among many other reasons. And why we have to do protein drinks in between meals to stave off hunger. Good luck everyone!
  9. I have been doing well with mashed potatoes and gravy. tastes good when youre starving! :frown: just take it slow and add a little milk with them if you can. I am on mushies in 2 days, but have been eating pots and gravy for about a week now....no problems. I have even eaten and drank at the same time, not recommended but old habits sure die hard!
  10. also, has anyone had any nausea? And what did you take for it? I have had a tiny tiny bit today, and I'm 3 days out from surgery.
  11. this is some of my band story so far...I posted to the other dec forum, but thought I would hit this one too. Here it is a snowy Saturday in Iowa. I have been banded since wednesday the 17th. That day went pretty fast but then again seemed kinda long also....strange but thats how it seemed. I have had a lot of pain, but I had 2 surgeries, I had my gallbladder out along with the band being put it. Those of you who are scared, don't worry, you will be out like a light and they will give you something to calm you beforehand. I didn't think it was possible there was anyone as scared as me and asking all of these crazy questions, but we all are scared, but it is over and done with before you know it. The 1st 2 days on liquid were good, just stay away from t.v. if you can....sooo much food on t.v. but it hasnt bothered me too much, I don't feel hungry. Today I have eaten a whole small cup (jello-that you buy inthe store) of pudding, slowly, with no problems. I had some grape juice and a sugar free popsicle. I have not had a bm since the day or 2 before surgery...is this normal? Do you think I should take something for this? I came home the same day as my surgery due to bad weather in my area, and I live about 1.5 hrs from the hospital, they said if I can p and walk I can go home, so I did. It took me a while to get out of the anestesia -- all I wanted to do was sleep after surgery. Sure I had 2nd thoughts threw this whole process, and I still ask myself when I am watching others eat "did I do the right thing?" and my answer is YES YES YES! I am staying at my parents while I recouperate, no way could I be alone, I just can't move and do some stuff for mysefl, but every day is getting easier. I took a shower day 2 after surgery. I felt so much better after that. I have heard that single no kid people like myself tend to heal slower than others who have "someone to heal for" is this true? Kinda like the old addage, that single people don't live as long as married people? I sure am moving slow at it. I had to refill my pain meds already but that is more or less so I wouldnt run out this weekend. I am having to take them about every 3.5-4 hours. When I say pain, it feels like someone kicked or punched me in the stomach about 20 times, then I know its time for pain meds. I feel very good about the surgery and my decision. I would share anything with you all out there...obvoiusly! Thanks for all of your support! I am on the other side now! Those of you who are scared, just ask your nurse for something to calm you and you will be alright! and stick to this list! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! :tongue_smilie: and by the way...i cannot do broth at all! yuck!

  13. I have been trying to hiccup, but very very gently. It's hard to cough with this pain. I have been passing gas but not out my mouth! :tongue_smilie: So expect that too!
  14. I saw a commercial last night for full bars. The guy in the commercial claimed to be a former bariatric surgeon. You are supposed to eat one bar and a full glass of water before you eat, then you will eat less. Isn't that like having 2 meals? or more calories? their website is fullbar.com watch for that commercial out there.
  15. yes you can! stick with us! we will support you all the way! I keep my email reminders that have links in them that way I can make it to this forum quicker.
  16. wow! this time tomorrow several of us will be banded! We are all feeling nervous and those of you who posted your experiences I am soo thankful for! That sure helps to hear how easy it all is. Its snowing like crazy here in Iowa, so I am hoping I can make the hour drive to my surgery tomorrow! I wish we could all be there in person with each other, we will just have to be there in spirit. My surgery is at 9am central time, I have to be there at 7am. I am hoping like heck I can come home the same day--I also have to have my gallbladder removed. But thursday another ice storm is coming in Iowa, so I hope to make it home. I dont want to push myself, but at the same time, I want to be home. My parents will be taking care of me. Congrats to those who have already had surgery. Tell us how the liquid diets are going? What are you all doing to divert yourself from all of these holiday gatherings? avoiding them? focusing more on the people not the food? God Bless you all! and to those of us tomorrow... a poke of the needle and then we will wake up and be reborn...given a 2nd lease on life! How will you spend your skinny days?!?!
  17. I'm bad...I have "cheated" on my preop diet, but I havent had any carbs. That has been tough. I am losing weight though. This time of the year is harder than ever, let's give ourselves more credit! We are very strong people to do this right before the holidays. You will do fine, the days are counting down!
  18. Well? You must be banded by now, how did it go? I am on Wednesday.
  19. Just hearing all of that makes me feel a lot better, thank you so much for sharing!
  20. You poor girl! See, it can always get worse (I tell myself). You will do fine, we are all just another nekkid bod to them! I know my hospital does dozens and dozens of r n y's and lapbands....just another day at the office for them. Thanks for everyones stories, I will be embarrassed when it's all said and done over how much of a deal I made of it! :frown:
  21. YOU CAN DO IT! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!
  22. I am scared too but with this forum, its has been wonderful! We can get thru this! I am nervous about being naked in front of all of those doctors, I worry about the strangest things! Did anyone have to have a catheter while on the table? see! too much worrying! :rolleyes2:
  23. Hi Danielle, Thanks for the report, I am being banded the wed the 17th, I am waaay anxious and scared. I'm glad someone out there is like me, scared and also having gall bladder out as well. How long did your surgery take? Did you have to stay over night? Good luck to you! You are on your way girl! Keep it up you're doing great!
  24. bethm, thanks for the report! I am so nervous! I even watched surgery online to help me realize its not THAT big of a deal...well it is...but you know what I mean....trying to ease my mind. I will be banded and de-gallbladdered this wednesday the 17th. I am not looking foward to the 6 weeks after wards, but I am sure the weight will fly off then! the pre-op diet is going okay, its hard to not be able to eat carbs. But when the scale says one pound less quite frequently its a sure reminder of why I am doing this! Take care all of you December Bandsters, and what a great Christmas give we are giving ourselves! Just think of what next Christmas will bring for us all, and all of the new changes for us in 2009! God bless you all!

Hi Kerry50-- I think you will be surprised at how easy it goes. They put the needle in, you go out, next thing you know, you're done! So I am told. Now I need to tell myself that on the 17th. I am a little jealous of you, I would like to get mine over with! I'm Dec 17th at 9am central time. You will do fine, just stay on top of those pain meds!!! Thats the main thing everyone tells me! and please keep us posted! God Bless you--oh wait, he already has!
