WOOT! That was fast! Congrats. -BG
  4. YAY!!!! Awesome weight loss...and comparisons are always self-defeating...there's always someone whose lost more (some twice as fast in my monthly group). I never get that 'one more bite' feeling or the 'hiccup' or any of that...we've all just got to figure our own bands out and it can be a challenge. Good job GF! -BG
  5. WOW Laura...you are amazing!!!! That was really fast (at least for me watching you...I know how hard you worked for this). Congrats on getting in the CENTURY CLUB!!! -BG

  7. You'll get your energy back when you're back on real food. I lived on SF popsicles for that 'crunch' we need. -BG
  8. New Year and a new you! Way to get back on the bandwagon! -BG

I wasn't in Onederland, but was a lower BMIer and I came out 10 lbs. heavier...it's the IV fluids and all the swelling (I looked pregnant). BTW, get a Rx for nausea if you don't have one...vomiting on a new band would be bad (and I've used my little pills twice since banding...don't want to be calling the doc in the middle of the night!). Hope the boys and you are better soon! -BG -CONGRATULATIONS BANDER!!!!
  11. I don't eat much 'diet' food, but I do keep the Russell Stover's SF chocolates on hand at all times for occassions such as these. Sometimes I have the real stuff too...I'm a chocoholic and wanting it will NEVER go away...the difference is, I'm fine with just one. -BG

  14. Just a note; I was under twilight for a colonoscopy and 'woke up' during the procedure...yes, I remember it...groggy, but I remember. I've been under a general twice and it's no biggie, you won't remember the moment you go out, nor the moment you wake up there's kind of a 'gray area' on both ends that makes it so much easier.
  15. I've never had a problem with *ehemm* 'going' before I had the band. In fact I couldn't even eat raisin bran without getting diarrhea before. Now I've got the opposite problem. I'm working to get in more Water as I know that's a likely cause, but I have a question about Fiber. I've been adding Benefiber to my moring oatmeal concoction (along with soy protein). I'm adding 2 Tbsp. to Breakfast only, but according to the Benefiber box that's the max. serving for the whole day (they recommend 2 tsp./3x day max). I know fruit/veggies will give me fiber as well, but for those of you adding additional fiber, like Benefiber is it OK to do it all in one meal like I am, or should you spread it out over the day? How much do you take in a day? What I'm doing isn't working and I've been doing it for months now. Help!
  16. I'm not sure if you were talking about people here, or people you know. Just to be clear for those that are researching...not to downplay all the great WL we see on here, but not everyone's goal weight is losing 100% of their excess weight. In fact many people here have set goals that are still in the 'Overweight BMI' category...some even set by their docs. The statistics the docs give you on each type are % of excess weight lost...100% would be getting to the middle of the 'normal BMI' category.
  17. Here's the info. I found, hope something helps: 10/21/09 Feel the Burn - LAP-BAND 12/16/09 Heartburn Relief? - LAP-BAND
  18. One word...DON'T! Read 2/11/09 What kind of CRAZY "Sport" is this?!! - LAP-BAND®
  19. Google 'globus sensation and reflux'...reflux is the most common side-effect of banding and sometimes the tight/lump in the throat is the ONLY symptom, and some get the usual burning and some both. If this sounds like what you have, keep a close eye on this as it can escalate quickly and if you develop any problems during the night (burning, coughing, vomiting) or increased tightness it's a red flag that you need a slight unfill right away. Best wishes- BG
  20. Strange- I didn't recognize you! NICE new Avatar...looking good girl (...nudge, nudge...compliments!). You do look GREAT!!! -BG
  21. OK, exercise...I feel better. Going out now for the second time today...no end in sight...

  24. I've seen the 1/2 C/meal posts too and I challenge the fact that anyone can get in all their nutrition needs with SOLIDS (like we're supposed to eat with the band, but everyone needs to do what their doc says and what works for them) in all the food groups; not just Protein, but fruit, veg., dairy, etc. They may be able to get in enough calories with 1/2C (ie. high cal peanut butter), but I've never seen anyone who meets all the nutritions goals eating 1/2C. My NUT said up to 1 1/2C lean solids (with target amounts for each food group) for 3 meals a day, no Snacks. I eat 1/2 C at Breakfast and generally 3/4-1.25 C (so usually about 1 C) for the other two meals and I even have a hard time getting in all the fruit and sometimes veggies (protein is easy for me).
  25. Not necessarily. My class said after the chopping/food processor it has to be more of a liquid than a solid...ie. if I put nuts through my chopper then I have chopped nuts, which aren't a mushie and even if I put it in the food processor and got it to peanut butter you put it on a spoon and turn it upside down...it stays there. Most things you can make into a mushie and others you can add some liquids to to convert them to a mushie...ie. you can get chicken to a mushie with some cream or broth (ie. baby food meats). *I bought a Magic Bullet and it was invaluable (love the lids/cups that came with it you can continue to put in the microwave or fridge) This is more important just post-op; after fills you'll know how thick you can tolerate.
