CONGRATULATIONS Bander! Glad you're turning the corner, you're right, it's all worth it! -BG
  2. CONGRATULATIONS Bander!!!
  3. If this is still happening I'm hoping you've already gone to the hospital. You didn't say anything about vomiting, so I'm guessing you got something down? Sliming (what you described doesn't usually bring much up except the mucus your esophagus makes. Your doc may have given you a small 'primer' fill at surgery (a couple of cc's to fill the port and tubing), and this may be too much for you right now. Don't wait to get to the hospital as getting dehydrated could cause major problems right now!

  6. My endoscopy went great...everything is the right size/working, just mild reflux damage mainly in the esophagus so they have me starting the Nexium again. It's great to know that everything with my band/pouch is great though...after almost a year I was really curious to find out! Pics of my pouch stoma on Friday's blog if you want to be grossed out LOL!
  7. Tryng to refocus again...I'm still about the same as where I was 3 weeks ago...my body just wants to stay at about 160 (I only saw goal for one day...sigh). I'm wondering if this is a mental thing as well; 160 is the lowest I've ever been able to diet down to before (many moons, and many many diets and pounds ago) so it's how I set my goal as I know I had some excess weight at 160...also having just under that as a goal am I just 'happy with where I am' unconsciously? Trust me...my bum and thighs have plenty of excess weight still. This journey is always a mystery. Hmmm.
  8. Great plan! Keep working on those short term goals...keep doing the right things and you'll get there!
  9. Good luck tomorrow GF! You're going to be a whole new bionic gal when this is all over!! Heal soon! -BG

  15. I think you need a second opinion. Reflux during the night, coughing or vomiting at night are all red flags that you're too tight and even a small unfill might help. Over time you can develop Barrett's (sp?) esophagus or even esophagial cancer...even acid induced asthma. There are worse things than a small unfill. Don't let this go on untreated (I'm scheduling now with the Gastro. to see what's going on and I don't even have night problems). Feel better soon!
  16. My DD has a possible job opportunity in Centerville, VA. We don't know the area at all and want to get some ideas of where to start looking for an apartment, and so she can determine if she'll be able to afford living there. She's 22 and will be living on her own, so safety is a big concern. She also doesn't know anyone there so she'd like to know if there are areas/apartments where more young people live. I've ruled out the Dulles area due to airport noise, but the area around/south of I-66 around the 3 areas listed is where I was starting. Anything at all you could share with me would be appreciated! Thanks so much! -BG
  17. Nina- Just wanted to say congratulations on your upcoming banding. Dr. Eid gave my Magee seminar and he was really nice and very informed (I ended up chosing AGH though)...Eid seems like he'd be very easy to talk to, which is important with fills, etc. Congrats! -BG
  18. You look great JT!!! No one would even know you had ever been heavier. Shopping must have been fun in those new sizes!
  19. Sorry, I'm a little behind with all of you as I've been having some issues (gallbladder, etc.). I'll get caught up today! Here are my blogs about what's been going on, another nutrition blog on sweets, and my gift for reaching goal. Enjoy! Oh, and don't forget ANYONE can leave comments (just chose the anonymous and write your name so I'll know it was you, and just keep pushing that post/publish button, it's stubborn and takes several times and a word recognition). -BG I'm Stoned: 3/2/10 I'm Stoned ~ THE SWEET SPOT Sweets and Sugar-Free: 3/1/10 Sweets & Sugar-Free ~ THE SWEET SPOT Dizzy Blonde: 3/1/10 Dizzy Blonde *Update* ~ THE SWEET SPOT My Sexy New IRS Friends: http://bandgroupiethesweetspot.blogspot.com/2010/02/22810-my-sexy-new-irs-friends.html

  22. Pressure in the chest is what I felt with anything going down until those internal stitches healed. Just keep your doc informed and take it slow. -BG

Call your surgeon NOW! Not to alarm you, but this is NOT normal. Your internal stitches have not healed yet and vomiting anything up (you've got 'sliming' and it's the mucus your esophagus produces) can cause complications with your band at this point. Please call them today and let them know what is going on...you made need a small unfill until you heal. -BG
  25. Good for you! It helps a lot to see the changes...lookin' good!!! -BG
