  1. Junk food chips, Cookies ice cream. are sliders and they slide through the band .... Why.... well because you have them in the house.

Your band may be to tight.. or you may eating to big of bites the size of a pencil eraser is what my Dr said after a fill. Your band is loser at night and tighter in the morning. I eat in the AM when I get hungry not at a specific time..It is just easier.

  2. After you throw up you should STOP eating your esphogas swells go on liquids for at least the rest of the day. Each fill smaller bits more chewing.....

I had a lot of problems eating out and espcially with friends. You get to talking and you eat to fast, take bigger bites and don't wait long enough between bites. And you may be sipping Water or your drink.

If this continues you probably need some taken out. My friends all knew and so they were supportive and my husband would give me cues to slow down........and when that didn't work I just left the table took care of business and came back and asked for a box. And enjoyed the company and talk.

  3. OK tummys growling.... Dr Oz was on Oprah and he said , when your tummy is growling especially at night it is not telling you you are hungry It is telling you you are BURNING FAT...

I have no idea if it's true but that comment got me through a lot of rumbly nights. And Dr Oz wouldn't lie right.....

  4. It's hard and we all know it. Try same food only spread it out over 6 smaller servings. Know that we miss the party in our mouths and the taste of food.

Before everyone gets all in a tizzy I can honestly say I rarely got hungry after I got the sugar out of my system. But I sure did miss food and the taste of it.

Try eating warm foods that really helps me, tea, hot chocolate, Once in a while try this Take and apple dice it up add a spritz of Water some cinnamon and sweetner microwave it presto a warm fruit serving add some no cal cool whip. and eat it slowly and then slower really savor it. then eat only 1/2 and save the rest. Thats how you learn control..My go to food is always chicken broth in a cup. Good Luck you can do this and pretty soon food will be a take it or leave it.

  5. It is certainly none of my business but My mouth just dropped when I read your post, "You said I told one friend who I know would never tell a soul. But I chose not to tell any of my good girlfriends." I found that a real paradox, made me stop and wonder what kind of friend I would want to be the trusted friend or the good friend? Good Luck on your journey.

  6. Angelizz10 I have never heard of anyones Dr saying they do not need a pre op diet. I am not doubting you just surprised . I worry about fat in your liver . And while folks going through the pre diet might think you are lucky. I am not so sure.

I know all Drs are different . My personal opinion is the pre op prepares you physically and mentally for the surgery and gives you a taste of things to come

For me the resolve to tough it out started at the pre.... I have read many post here where people in the pre diet are re-thinking the process . For me is was the first realization of my love affair with food and how I used it.

  7. When you detox from sugar you get a headache. Remember this when someone tells you you took the easy way out......How bad do you want this.. thats the question. Not sure but I think I took an excedrin . It gets better... that that doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Time to suck it up.. you will feel so much better when you win this battle.

  8. I had BCBS of Michigan they required a year supervised once a month by my Dr. I was devestated cried buckets and kicked the dog (not really) but I did what they said my Dr thought it was stupid and so we met everymonth chit chatted and I got weighed. I got sicker 2 bp pills 2 asthma pills 2 reflux pills and pre diabetic sugar readings. I saw the Pulmonary DR. the cardiologist Then when my year was up and everything was submitted they said they had 90 more days to think about it. THats when I quit being pissed and got really depressed . On day 89 the Drs office called and said I was approved and when did I want my surgery. I was crying so hard she couldn't understand me saying yesterday. Two weeks later I had my band and I never looked back........ That 15 monthes was hell for me ... my Dr. was wonderful he was so angry with the insurance company calling the shots he wouldn't let me throw in the towel and quit because he felt they were hoping thats what I would do.

Looking back I believe that year was what made me so resolved to do what I needed to do to lose the weight. It was hard to wait and I feel so sorry you have to do this I would try the other suggestions but in my case it just did not work but a year is not forever and I wish you nothing but good luck and peace through this process.

  9. You probably don't have enough Fluid in your band So why wait call Drs office and get more...I use to think I would starve to death too until someone said at my current weight it couldn't happen for a long time  not what I wanted to here.

You are eating exaxctly what they recommend so just stay the course. So much of our hunger is head and mouth hunger. Do you like spicy hot food? ?

If so save some of that food for a snack of something hot/spicey it makes your mouth satisfied. A hot snack does it for me hot chicken broth, in a cup , hot chocolate Swiss Miss 10 cals with whipped topping.

I like Missys idea 6 smaller. But whatever you do do not start cheating . I promise you you will not starve. This is how it worked for me, I'd get a fill and not be hungry 3 weeks in I'd get hungry, then I get a fill and not be hungry until I got to 5cc in a 10 for me that was perfect, I had to remember to eat just do it because you are getting enough food.

  10. I had to get Vitamin B shots for awhile supplement didn't do it. Is your skin and hair dry and seriously is the skin between your fingers more webby that was what my internist looked for for thyroid. Which I had when I was heavier but it came under control when I lost weight now we just watch it.

I know it sounds trite but drinking more fluidd and brisk walking really helps. When I get bored or in a routine I get sleepy. With all the changes going on in your body you could be chemically depressed by hormomnes trying to figure out whats up.

Protein rebs me up and carbs make me tired. If you are really tired maybe you just need to sleep. I hope you aren't taking bp meds. I watched a great big guy go down in a parking lot this summer because his bp meds made him go to low.

If all else fails go back to the Dr. and say look I am concerned , and I know my body something is not right. Hope you are feeling better real soon.

  11. Turned the heat on this AM you folks up north may not know this but in south Fl. you don't have a furnace you just turn your air up it's an air handler . Feeling for all those states with out electricity and flooding,. We always think of Hurricanes down here not NY City.

When I get homesick for fall I go to Jacksonville..............

  12. Just read a recent post and the person said she wasn't telling her friends because she didn't want to hear negativity. You know I am just not so sure these folks are your friends. Why would anyone want you to stay FAT?? Unhealthy and Unhappy, .

THe only person that said anything negative to me was my neighbor who weighs 3lbs. she wasn't my friend then and she isn't my friend now. I am not telling you to tell people. But it is my hope you look at the way your friends treat you. Sometimes when we are overweight we think we have to settle for what people give us. Good Luck.......

  13. It really doesn't matter what other peoples Drs. told them it is what yours told you, you are in a partnership with him. You trusted him to open you up put a band around your stomache so listen to him on this. He is the one who will follow up with you .

If you ask enough people what to do eventually someone will telll you what you want to hear. I suggest you do what he told you, read the directions again if you are doubting..

  14. In our house we say You do what you gotta do... so I am sure you can do it my concern is that you will be on pain meds and not thinking clearly and you might miss something important . Also you will not be feeling that great, one person out of all the responders felt ok.

So sorry you are in this situation and we will be sending you lots of prayers.

  15. chicken is difficult I dunk mine in something like diet ranch or it goes for an elevator ride back up. I have just given up on steak never stays down even blended so I have a bite of my husbands and get the taste and thats better then 5 trips to the bathroom to get rid of it. Everyone grieves food in the begining ...

But when you are over it you look at it and it really makes you sick yuck greasy,to sweet , taste chemically (diet pop and stuff) and if you want a little you will be surprised how a mini candy bar is okay and you don't need a whole bar or two to fill you.

I use to take 3 Cookies at a time because the first 2 went down to fast and the 3rd one was the one I tasted now it's just a cookie and it better be this kind with nuts and warm and then I might eat it or not . The day will come when you look at others overflowing plates and realize that use to be you and you just can not imagine eating all that food. It is a process and you will get there

  16. I went as an EASY Button last year and stuck a100.dollar bill coming out of my shirt I said I was easy but I wasn't cheap........Never would have had the courage to do that before..... This year our party was a tailgate be true to your school party my Chicago Bear outfit was not nearly as fetching.

But I have a very beguiling Roaring 20"s outfit for Jan. not sure what to do with my Ugly Sweater outfit for my Christmas Party yet

, You look terriffic and I bet you felt beautiful.. Hang that picture on the fridge girl you deserve it.

  17. Bring a skinny liver, and a good attitude, you are going on the journey that will change your life. You will not wake up skinny but you will be on your way. Write down all the reasons you are doing this in a journal just for your eyes and be really really honest. You will need this when the tough times come and come they will, days when you just want to give up then you can read it and check off the things you have accomplished.

Good Luck and you will need all the things the others suggested but for the long run you will need what I told you even if you forget something they said....

  18. WOW you are just so angry..... that has got to becoming from a lot of pain. I feel so bad you have had to go through this but this karma stuff and wishing you could be there when their bands fail WOW. People speak from their own experience and it looks like yours just sucks but she didn't make your band so why be so angry at her.

I hope you feel better and justified but you are just venting a lot of stuff that is just not necessary. You're attempt to educate us was lost in your tirade. I suggest everyone just drop it attacking someone is not helping your bad experience and it is time to just let it go hope everyone feels vindicated I feel a little sick. And to be honest I don't think anyone that differed with you could ever be your friend.
