  1. Your post was very informative. Congratulations. I am in the process of trying to get approved for laproscopic gastric bypass. My biggest block is my insurance. They paid for the band but turned me down for the re-band. I've since decided to go with the gastic anyway due to some information classes. I'm praying the insurance will approve me. It's so frustrating. My daughter is getting married in Oct. I want to loose weight before that and I can't. I'm so weak! I'm trying to stay positive. Did your insurance give you a hard time? :help:

  2. Ddee,

I like your out look on losing the band. Ive been thinking I want to be re-banded but the sick feeling is seeping back into my memory. It was bad the last few days before removal. If I could just get control of myself and stop eating between meals.I go to the Y as often as I can so I'm sure that helps but I am slowly gaining the weight back. :P I don't know what to do.

  3. Hi,

My doctor is such a pain there's no way he'll give me pills. In fact I'm looking for a new one. THe day before my surgery I had to have a shot for blood clotting. He would not give it to me (the banding hospital and Dr.are 45 miles away). My band Dr. thought my GP would give it to me.I ended up doing it myself. My GP did NOT want me to have the band at all. I basically told him I'm doing it either way.Sounds like you have a good Dr.

Do the pills have side effects?:P

  4. Dear Dody,

Thank you for your response. I live in Albany, NY. A size 12 is wonderful, especially since your 5"7. I'm surprised the service paid for your lapband. That's great. I just would like to know if my insurance will pay for me to have it again. My low weight was 150, now I am 176, size 14. I diet and go to the Y 4-5 times a week. Here at work all they do is eat. It's very hard. I want to go back to 150 so badly. I have to get myself together and stop indulging. The Dr. who did my band was 1 hour away so I know what you mean. I hope your son is OK and they can fix it without major surgery. How old is he? I'm leaving here in an hour or so and I'm off till Monday. I hope to hear from you again. Keep your chin up and please know I understand 100% .

    Love, Honey

  5. You are so lucky to still have your band. At least you have hope. I lost my band and I'm gaining with nothing to stop me. I am trying to get re-banded but the Dr. who did it stopped doing them. Good luck with your fills and I think its a smart idea to get a little at a time. I'm sure it will give you the restriction you need in time.

  6. I was in the hospital twice for dehydration. I held off getting the band taken out to the last minute, it ended up emergency surgery and I begged the doctor to try to save it. He said he could'nt. He stopped doing the band surgery because of insurance issues. Now I'm trying everything and anything. I've sent the paper work in to Albany Med requesting to be rebanded there :) but have'nt heard from them yet. I pray they will do it again.

  7. I live in NY. I seem to have more self control since I came here to you guys for help. I'm not so depressed. I'm trying the South Beach diet at the moment. It surprises me when I find the morning gone and I have'nt thought of food (much). I've even lost 1-1/2 lbs! It's a start. I've sent the paper work in to be re-banded at Albany Medical Center but have'nt heard from them. I hear their program is tough but I'm willing to try it if I can get my band back. If not, I think I'm finally adjusting to life without it. Still missing it but replacing it with this communication. Who knows it just might work.

  8. Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement. I had the band removed because it slipped. I've heard it could happen but never thought it would happen to me. I am in the process of finding a new doctor but its not easy. I'm also not sure if the insurance will pay for it again. I'm trying not to let this get me down. You are such a help. I feel better already! Thankyou. It's nice to have someone who understands.

  9. :think I had to have my band removed after 8 months. I lost 60 lbs. and now I'm slowly gaining it back. I've told myself I can't do that . I'm totally out of control. I eat everything I see then I lay awake at night hating myself for being so weak. I need to get control but, How? Can anyone help me? What are my chances of being re-banded? The Dr. that did the original does'nt do that surgery amymore. . I'm so sad.
