  1. Congrats! Mine is May 1 and I am so pumped !!! I just got confirmation yesterday! :crying: I did swtich from getting the band to the sleeve though. Good luck! :crying: WHOHOO!:rolleyes2:
  2. I tried that....the whole only eating a cup of food a day. My best friend had the gastric sleeve. At that time, I wasnt financially able to do the surgery. So I told her that I would simply eat what she eats. Well here I sit, still fat and she is almost 100 pounds lighter!!! Good news though, today I finally got approved for my loan and should be scheduled for my band next month!!! Hang in there. I have no advice about the hunger part but i can suspect the fill will help with that. GOOD LUCK!
  3. Hi, I am at that weird threshold.... see 2 years ago I was at the same place weight wise that i am now. My friend went for the gastric sleeve while I said I would try to eat what she does and "mentally" have the band. Well here I am still obese and she is down litterally 100 pounds. So I am going for the band this time. Does anyone know of a surgeon in central Florida that opperates on lower BMI? Can you send me contact info? Or even any doc that is ok with lower BMI would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance & good luck to all!:yikes:
  4. I am interested in the same thing! I am too small (which makes me laugh) for insurance so I have to self pay. I am also thinking about going to Mexico and did some reading on here regarding experiences. I have read a lot of positive posts about their experiences but I have not seen where fiscally it makes more sense. The price looks to be pretty much the same as in the states.
  5. so I have to pull my credit up before I can get financed and it is going to take me a couple of months. I have a 600 now and want to get financing. I got turned down. For those of you who got financing from Capital one or any other medical financing what was your credit score? thanks in advance!
  6. How did your surgery go? How much did you end up paying with the study? I am very interested as I am a lower BMI (33 almost 34) and will probably be self pay. thanks!
  7. Hi, I am starting the process finally. And yes it is a process for sure! Over a year ago I started it and stopped. My friend continued...she ended up getting the sleeve but I look at her now and the time I wasted......I could be there by now!!!! My story is a different journey as I do not qualify for my insurance at all. I have a BMI of 33 and they won't even allow me to do it. So self financing is my option. I have 4 months until I am debt free and will be able to get a cosigner for my lap band. It is worth the work to stick it out and push through. Having insurance hoops are hard I know......but stick it out! Don't waste away a year of your life like I did! Hang in there!
  8. Yeah I was thinking the same thing. It is a friend of a friend that had it done and I think MY friend might have just made that up! LOL
  9. WOW Travelinsnorkel! You are doing great on your weight loss. I can't wait to do this so I can have your results! :rolleyes2: That is great.
  10. Thanks everyone! Ideally I would be comfortable paying up to 11k. I also heard that if you pay out of pocket it is cheaper???
  11. That is great Buppie10! You give me hope!
  12. I have a BMI of almost 34. The nurse said that my body type does the best because no fatty liver, diabetes, etc... Saying that though, I have to pay out of pocket. I am not going to Mexico to do it but from what i heard, if you pay out of pocket it doesnt matter your BMI..... Maybe I am wrong? Good luck to all
  13. Thanks !!! Monkey....Also thanks! I am thinking staying local is the way I am going to go. Plus I see what you mean about the fills. Just getting into learning about the options. It looks like it will be April 09 before I go for my first consultation. I have to get my $ together first! SHEESH!
  14. Thanks Becky! That gives me a good benchmark. Anyone else that can post their non-insurance price would be awesome! I just want to be informed. THX!!! steph:wink2:
  15. Oh my friend is saying 6k is from Alabama....
  16. So my doc quoted 17k..I live in Orlando. I will be paying for it through financing so getting the best band for my $ is important. I want a skilled doctor ....not willing to risk my life in a non qualifiied surgeon. However a friend of mine also paid out of pocket through financing and paid 6k????? What is the status quo? What are you guys paying or what is your 411 on this? thanks in advance Slim:confused:
  17. That is the medical hotline
  18. Actually the doctor that I am looking at going referred me to them. Here's their number: The phone number of Capital One is 1-877-559-5050
  19. You could try getting medical financing. You will be responsible for paying for your surgery and it will be more expensive than what insurance would be. here's a name a friend gave me: www.geapplyonline.com It is a credit card to be used for medical surgeries. It is worth a shot. I have insurance that I dont qualify to use. My credit is not good so I am not qualified to get financing....I am sooo down about it. But if I can get a cosigner than I am good. My sister might help me but I hate to ask for someone to do that for me! Good luck. God Bless!
  20. Thx Swindle! I looked him up and emailed him for more info. I like what I see from his site. Thanks for the recommendation.. Did you see him for surgery? What is your story. 32 f over here near UCF area......very familiar with Altamonte. I lived off of central near cranes roost so I know where his office is on palm springs. again thanks
  21. I don't have a regular doctor and am looking for anyone that can help me with an Orlando reference. My biggest fear is going to a doctor that doesnt support the lap band. Anyone know of or have a name of a doctor in the Orlando/Daytona area that I should go to? This is a great forum by the way. Thank you in advance! :cool2:
  22. Just starting this process! Excited .....:cool2:
