  1. Hi. I was banded on 11/21 and had a stomach virus on 12/11. Although you can't really vomit with the band, I did a lot of heaving and wretching. I am worried about my band. I spoke with my surgeon's office that morning, but do not have another appt. until 1/13. Has anyone else had this experience and did it affect the band? Also, I am starving. I have not had a fill and won't until 8 weeks post op. I am doing the best I can. I have lost 20.5 pounds, but haven't lost any weight for two weeks. Is this anyone else's experience?

My best friend died last night.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my maltese of 18 years in April and I know how you feel. Frosty also laid by me thru 3 surgeries and never left my side. This is the first surgery I have been thru without having him by my side to comfort me. And now, when I go for a walk, I want Frosty here to walk with me. It does get better, but it takes time. Allow yourself to grieve the loss of your best friend and know that God will take care of you and your family. You are in my prayers.

Not Losing. . . except my mind.

I am with you....banded on 11/21, but no fill until 1/13. So, I have been on my own all thru the holidays. I am hungry and I am wondering whether this was worth it. I didn't know I would be hungry and have to wait for 8 weeks to get any help. If I could do it on my own, I wouldn't need the band. And now it looks like from other posts that it could take as many as 3 fills to feel restriction. I have lost 20.5 pounds, but none in 3 weeks....once I started on real food. I, too, am very frustrated. It took so long to get approval for the surgery....8 months, and I am still waiting for help from the band. Pray for me, please.
  5. I would like to participate in this challenge. I was banded on 11/21/2008 and have lost 20.5 pounds. I haven't lost in two weeks, but will have my first fill of 4 cc on 1/13/09. I am going to lose 14 pounds by Valentine's Day. This will be a great kick start for me after the holidays. Is 4 ccs a good fill?
  6. I, too was banded on 11/21/2008 and I am having trouble with my blood sugar dropping. My dr. said to eat whatever I want, which is scary. Isn't that why I needed the surgery. So far I am only trying small amounts of soft foods. Any suggestions
  7. Hi. My surgery date is Nov.21, too. I feel like it has taken years to get here, but actually only 6 months. I am excited and scared. I am ready and start my liquid diet on Tuesday. My surgery is at 7:30 am on Friday. Let's stay in touch! Good luck with your surgery...I will keep you in my prayers. All is well.
  8. Thanks for all the info. Actually, I got up the nerve and contacted my surgeon. They caution against it but understand that some patients need it and those patients use it. I am hoping that as the weight comes off, some of the arthritis pain will go away. But for now, I am so relieved to know that I can take it if I absolutely need it. And, I also asked about my pain medication before surgery and was told I can take it now. This will make things so much better for me! All is well.
  9. My surgeon is aware that I take Voltaren, and I have discontinued it for three weeks prior to surgery. But, he is not aware of the pain I am in without it. I plan to call him today and ask about taking it after surgery. Maybe he has something else I can use. In any case, I am waiting faithfully for the 21st for my surgery. But it is with a very, very painful body. Glad to hear you were sent home on Celebrex....that gives me hope!
  10. I am hoping to be able to take voltaren after surgery. If I can't, I won't be able to walk. My arthritis is so bad that I have considered canceling the surgery just because of the pain from stopping my medication. I am afraid to ask, because if I find out I can't take it, I may have to cancel my lapband surgery. Anyone know about arthritis medicines after surgery?

    I'm here to help...

Hi Indigo. I see you are a little younger than me, but I need a mentor/buddy in her 50s. I feel I am older than most bandsters. My surgery is 11/21 and I am excited, nervous, scared all at the same time. I am hurting a lot, because they have taken me off all arthritis meds. I have been thru the cardiologist, pulmonologist, 6 month weightloss program, psych, nutrition, surgeon visits. Still have scheduled vascular and hematology. Please advise if you used a pre-op diet and what it was. Thanks for being there.
  12. I will be banded on 11/21 and I know what you mean! Come on 11/21!

    Hello

Hi. I am scheduled for surgery on 11/21. I am probably older than a lot of you, at 58, but it is never too late to take care of yourself. I, too, started the approval process two years ago, but stopped after a few months. I started the whole process again this year in April. My insurance required 6 months of weightloss, so here I am....ready, excited and a little scared. Come on November 21st!!!

Approved and got a date !!!!!!!!

Hi! I am new to this site as a member, but I have been reading for awhile. I have been approved and have a surgery date of 11/21/2008 at 7:30 a.m. It has been a long process for me. Two years ago, I started the weightloss part of the process, but quit after three months. I started over this year in April and will have surgery on the 21st. Right now, I have seen a pulmonologist, have appts. with a cardiologist, hematologist and vascular surgeon, before surgery. Wish me luck and any encouragement would be much appreciated. My whole family knows and my husband says he will have to eat in the garage before long. Any pearls of wisdom for me?
