I am so sick of being single!

I feel the same way - i have been single for 2 years now after a 14 year marriage. I would really like to meet someone to spend time with but I have no idea where to meet them. I find the men who go to pubs/clubs are only interested in one night stands. Where do the men who are looking for relationships go?
  2. Hey Ebony - we're being banded the same day. MONDAY!!! I can't believe it is only 4 more sleeps. I had my pre-op today and going back to see the dietician tomorrow as the last time I saw him and my specialist was 2 years ago when I went on the public health waiting list. I am so scared about the actual surgery - i will be so glad when that parts over.

    Sleep Apnea

Hi I have sleep apnoea too. I stop breathing 100 times per hour. I use a CPAP machine. Having sleep apnoea did not affect me being able to have the surgery but it did change the hospital I am having the op done in. I also have to take my CPAP machine with me to hospital. Jack I'm so glad to hear you don't need to use CPAP anymore - that's what I'm looking forward to.

    Post op diet help please

Thanks i've read on here that gas can be a problem. I'm hoping I can have some real food by Christmas Day.

    I lost 100 lbs.

That is fantastic! Congratulations! Any success secrets to share?
  6. Hi Everyone I'm really interested to hear if anyone with severe sleep apnoea has been able to throw out their CPAP machine and if so how long/how much weight did it take? This is one of the main reasons for me having the surgery. I stop breathing 100 times per hour when sleeping and I hate the machine. I have about 20kgs (40lbs) to lose and I'm really hoping it will make a difference. I'd love to hear your sleep apnoea stories...

    Anyone beaten sleep apnoea?

Thanks I really hate the CPAP machine and I find even after having it for a year and a half I still rip the mask off during the night so still feel very tired during the day. I really hope the surgery fixes it.

    Post op diet help please

Thanks. I haven't been on any pre op diet. My doctor said with my BMI I didn't need to but I'll get some for post op. I don't drink any milk drinks but clear soup will be ok. Glad to hear coffee still on the menu.

For the singles here... Just do this..

Hi I'm 37 (soon to be 38) living in Melbourne. I am going to be banded on the 17th Nov (day before my birthday). I need to lose around 20kgs - really looking forward to the surgery being over...that's the scary part for me. It's times like this when it would be nice to have a partner to hold your hand.

    Any Regrets?!?

Hi Catherine I have been reading your blog every time I log on. I'm really enjoying reading about your progress and how you've handled social situations. Thank you. I have one question - what is the reason for no carbonated drinks? Is this for a period of time or forever?
  11. Thank you to those of you who have already been banded and have shared your success with the rest of us...10 days to go and I'm still really nervous. I'm really not good with pain - I don't even like getting my eyebrows waxed (my friends can't believe I have had 4 children). Good luck to those of you having surgery this week!
  12. How long after surgery before you were able to drive? 11 days until surgery and I'm trying to get everything organised for the kids. Thanks in advance

    Surgery & Smoking

My surgery is the 17th. I have 2 left in my packet and I have promised myself I wont buy another packet. I only smoke a packet a week so its not a huge habit to break but I think it'll help with the surgery and the recovery.
  14. Hi Everyone I put my name on the list for surgery 2 years ago. About 4 months ago I started a weight loss program and lost 13 kilos. I still have 22kgs to go to be healthy. This week I got my letter to say my surgery date is 17th Nov (day before my birthday). Now I'm really scared. I have everyone telling me I don't need it stick to what I've been doing and I 'll be fine but I haven't lost anything in the last month and I know I will just slowly put all the weight back on again. I know if I don't do this I will regret it but I am so scared. I have severe sleep apnoea (I stop breathing 100 times per hour) and I really want to stop having to use the CPAP machine. Any advice from anyone?
  15. Hi Everyone I haven't been told to do anything before my op on the 17th. I have to go for pre-admission app on the 13th. My letter just says to fast the morning of my actual operation. Is this normal or should I expect to be told something different of the 13th? My friends and I are planning to celebrate my birthday on the 14th cos I will be in hospital on my actual birthday. I don't want to miss that too

    time off work

I'm a little worried about this too. I'm a teacher and teach 6 year olds so I do lots of bending over their small tables etc. I'm expecting to take 2 weeks. Do you think with my job that will be enough time?

Anyone get banded at just 35 BMI?

These stories are so good to hear. My BMI is around 35 too and my op is scheduled for Nov 17th (day before my birthday!). I'm scared about the actual surgery and how I will handle the first 2 weeks of just fluid but I'm hoping this will be the new start I need.
  18. Hi Everyone November 17th for me. I'm scared and nervous and excited all at the same time. For me the main reason for doing this is to get off my CPAP machine (I have severe sleep apnoea). I really hate it. Good luck everyone - we're into November now so we're all getting closer

    I'm really scared...

Hi EbonyRose Thank you. I have decided 100% to have the surgery because I know if I don't I will gain all this weight and a bit more and have real regrets. Good luck with your surgery too. We can compare notes afterwards. By the way - you're right I'm from Australia.
