  1. I am so nervous, my band slipped and am schedule to reposition it in February but am now second guessing my decision and wondering whether I should go for the sleeve instead. I am so nervous because I am unfilled for a while and gained so much weight already and if it will take me six months from surgery to reach restriction I will be so miserable...

What Does "full" Feel Like To You?

I think the chest tightness you know now may be gas (I had an EKG done post op because I was sure I was having a heart attack). Today I definitely know when i'm full and if I stop at the first signal my body sends then I don't get to the choking in the throat literal fullness.

    After Baby Blues

Good luck to you all. I actually had a baby without opening the band at all last May and list 15 lbs during pregnancy buy found out in September that the pregnancy made the band slip! I had to open my band for six Weeks and luckily the band went back into place. I gained 40 lbs back I had lost 117 and am now struggling to lose it. 16 down 23 to go. So good luck on your journeys. I learned the hard way next pregnancy I won't take the chance!

    I get my fill today!

good to hear from all of you, I actually needed some support. Because I've been making some really bad food choices lately, seems like I can eat anything (I know why I needed the band to lose weight) I'm getting my first fill tomorrow and i'm super nervous if I've stretched my pouch or something b/c of my eating habits these past 2 weeks... anybody?? I actually started the gym 3 x a week which feels good.... oh I can't wait to feel restriction again!!!
  5. Hi, I'm new to this forum and have made up my mind about doing the surgery. I've heard about a dr. pomp from 2 friends, but don't see his name on this forum anywhere. anyone out there has used him and would you please share your experience? thanks loads for your support & good luck to all!:rolleyes2:

    January 29th anyone????

hi, i was banded on 1/20 and can eat everything too. i lost 18 lbs and then proceeded to gain some of it back. everything goes. but i feel great, am totally recovered from surgery and have started an exercise program. i'm going in for a fill this monday and hope to start the real journey soon!!
  7. Hi, hope you're doing fine. I actually had my surgery on Jan 20, and have recovered fully. I lost a couple of pounds but gained some of it back once I was able to eat normally again. I'm having my first fill not on 2/23 and can't wait to begin to feel restriction. I actually had a very positive experience with dr. pomp ad his staff. are you getting any closer to surgery yet??

    IS anybody itchy?

oh the itch!! i was banded on 1/20 and recovering ok (some port pain) which got better every day. I started itching all over my stomach area about 2 days ago, no changes in vitamins.today i noticed redness around my incision sites. i'm not on pain meds anymore and i'm itching myself all day long. i'm supposed to return to work on tuesday but i don't know if i can work and scratch my stomach all day long! i will call my doc in the morning. i wonder what this is all about???

    Any side sleepers???

Boy does this talk sound familiar! I can't sleep! I just came out of bed to take a painkiller that I haven't taken in 6 days. The body pillow doesn't work for me at all but I will try to get hold of a hot/cold bottle tomorrow. good luck!
  10. Hi! I also got this new pain after I've been feeling pretty fine and it's driving me crazy. I can't sleep at night and I feel it all day. Its at my port site and below it and in my navel area. I spoke to the nurse at my drs. office and she said pain is normal for the first month for some and as long as I'm not gushing blood, I shouldn't worry, I didn't hurt myself inside. I hear so much about the port twisting or band slipping and the pain is making my nerves go crazy. Also, I'm feeling pretty good otherwise, I'm keeping some food down and have my strength back so this pain is really driving me nuts b/c i want to get back on with my life, you know... anyway, it's good to hear that others have the same concerns and I keep hoping it'll go away soon. I just came out of bed to take a painkiller ( which I haven't had in 6 days) b/c this tossing in pain in bed has reached its limit... good night and good luck to you!
  11. Hi everyone. hope you're all feeling good! I was banded 1/20/08 and have a couple of questions. How long is it normal to feel pain at the port site at every move (sitting down, getting up, bending a bit...) and how long have you stayed on your pain meds? I find that 3 1/2 hours after my last pain medication I wake up feeling in pain (am i becoming an addict?) If I do take my prescribed oxycodone, it just puts me right to sleep and then I can't eat and drink like i should be and then i feel dizzy and weak. anybody out there - what are you doing. should i just get off any pain meds, should i try to space them more? generally i fell ok. i just keep wondering if there are people out there who return to work after 3 days, so maybe something is wrong with me that i feel like sleeping and resting most of the day!!?? love to hear some advice!!

    pain- how long?

thanks for everyone's reply. i'm doing fine, but i still got one worry. every time i bend a little and i feel pain in my site i worry about band slippage or other problems. i'm off pain meds and i did a bit of light housework today and now i'm relaxing and feeling a bit of pain. does anyone else worry about hurting themselves and not knowing. should i just knock it out of my head and allow myself to be sore a couple of more days? i know i sound like i'm rumbling but i did hear a couple of horror stories and am worrying about it... please respond with some advice. thanks so much...

    pain- how long?

thank you everyone for the response. I didn't take my prescribed pain meds today and i'm doing fine. not that i'm totally off any meds, i'll take as needed, maybe at night before bed and i'll try the tylenol. I think that part of what i needed to hear was that the pain is normal you know getting in and out of bed and other moods. Lots of people just post that they're feeling great and i became worried that maybe my pains mean my band slipped or something. i'm walking around as much as i can and am actually feeling better today than any other day till now!! i can't wait till i can say - i dont feel my part only if i put pressure against it! anyway, don't think i'm regretting the band. overall, i'm feeling fine, not hungry, some chest pain but not intolerable and keeping some food and liquids down. so good luck to all of you and keep in touch!!
  14. nikki, your chest symptoms are normal. it scared me too in the hospital and i told them that i'm having chest pains, but they checked me out and they said it's gas and/or from the surgery and will go away. it got better though it still comes and goes and gets better after i walk around a bit. good luck - feel better. you're gonna forget these tough days and boy will you be happy you did this!
  15. hi kawasaki and all good to hear from you! I got home last night and am doing good too. walking is fine though getting up from chair or back down, still a pain. i'm gonna take it easy around my home the next two days. no hunger at all here too. i'm just taking my pain medicine with some applesauce and then forcing myself to sip fluids here and there. not feeling hungry is ok with me. it makes me feel like this is gonna work for me. till the banding, i was able to eat anything even when i wasn't hungry but this feeling now - lack of appetite - wouldn't allow me to eat even without hunger. i hope this is what restriction will do for me. my energy level is ok, although i need to push in my Vitamins, Protein and liquid. otherwise, i feel good!! i'm glad i can finally say, 'i'm banded'! good luck to all of you. i felt chest pains too but that is much better now. i hear the gas can be pretty bad!!

thanks voice, i will definitely get the tylenol and the sippy cup. and thanks nikki for sharing about that protein drink. i really don't like the one i was trying till now, but i'm forcing myself to swallow small sips of it at a time (that's the way we'll be drinking afterward anyway!) Hope you're all doing great with the preparations! I have to pack my kids (after I do all my laundry!) and my little handbag and I can't wait for the big-day! good luck!

    January 29th anyone????

Hi everyone! Guess I'm coming in close too. I'm being banded on the 27 in Cornell Hospital in NY by Dr Pomp. I can hardly wait! I only need to do 2 days of liquid diet, but was advised to lose some weight before surgery by doing some exercise and some lifestyle changes (practice, you know!) anyway, I did lots of reading both books and online and feel sort of ready though I still need to purchase my protein shakes and chewable vitamins and stuff. good luck to all and see you around on lbt!

hey, cool! I'm Jan 27 too! I'm really excited about this, but haven't completed all my shopping and still need to get some stuff before I'm ready so I guess I still need those weeks. I know it's not gonna be an easy journey but being overweight hasn't been easy either!

January bandsters our time is coming!!!

Hi all! I'm Jan 27 and I need to do just 2 days liquid diet though they recommended additional weight loss before surgery which I'm starting January 2 (right after all the good food!) I'm wondering about the pre-op testing that I'm scheduled for this wednesday. any ideas how long it takes and what exactly it includes? my surgeon is Dr. Pomp at Cornell in NY. Take care and best of luck to you all.

hey everyone - they just opened 2009 folders by the monthly support groups, we won't stay pre-op for too much longer! maybe we should move there so everyone who's jan 09 (or other 09 months) could find the group? can't wait to be banded and looking forward to sharing our experiences! happy holidays to all of you!!:tongue_smilie:
