Please talk some sense into me!
I am so sorry you are going through this. I lost my mom nearly one year ago, it was very sudden and tramatic. I did not have the band at the time. However, I was eating healthy, exercising and losing weight. I had never felt better, well that all went down hill fast. I stopped working out and eating healthy, I totally went back to my old ways and gained a little weight back. It was June 08 when I had my surgery. Like everyone else said, go in and get a fill before it gets more out of hand than 20 pounds. Take care of yourself, be good to yourself, I'm sure that is what your mom would have wanted. Bless you,

Almost died
Oh, I am so sorry. I was looking at your pictures and you look really good. I'm sure you will not let yourself gain your weight back, think about how far you have came. I know I would be devestated if I woke up and my band was gone also. Try to stay strong and postitive. God Bless You,

Daily News!
Hello everyone, I am in central Arkansas about 45 miles west of Little Rock. So Allie, I see you are in the very corner. I can't say that I have ever been to Texarkana. I did go to Dallas a few years ago but slept most of the trip. So I don't know if we went through Texarkana or not. It is another lovely day here today. So me and DH and the kiddos got outside we walked about 1/2 mile before we had to turn around, due to my 2 year old wanting to get out of the wagon and run around. I feel really good today so I will get on my ellipitical in a bit. I am so ready to go back to work on Monday. Bless you all, lucy

Hey I just wanted jump in here and say that I had my surgery done by Dr. Lutrell and so did my aunt. We both really like him, he is great and really good on the fills. I have not had to have another in nearly 4 months. Lucy

The Holiday Season and...broth
Oh, I know isn't it wonderful to finally be in control of ones life and KNOWING that your life is changing for the better. I love it. My thoughts on missing all the goodies during the holidays is this...I have had all the goodies for years, everyday has been a buffet of eating what ever I want, this feels so much better. Good luck to you. Lucy

Who have you told about your surgery? Why?
I guess in thinking about this question, I have told lots of people. All my family, some people at church, friends and neighbors. At first I was not tellng a lot of people, only family, but my husband was telling lots of people and he told me to be proud of it...so I went with it. I'll tell people and talk about it with those who I am close too and those who ask. However, I don't tell total strangers unles it comes up in converstation.

I fit into my "skinny" jeans this morning!
Hey congrats on the skinny jeans! Yes, exercise will help you lose inches and it may not be reflected on the scale. Losing inches is a great success...keep up the good work.

Banded Yesterday-OMG do I hurt
Angie, I was banded 6 months ago with a 2 year old and 4 year old. They stayed with my dad for a couple of days while I recovered. I was sore and my husband was here with me. It was not terrible but it was my 1st surgery so I don't know how to compare it to something else. I just did not pick the kids up or let them crawl all over me for a few days. As far as the gas pain....walk...walk....walk. Good luck, you can do this.

Daily News!
Hello everyone, I was banded on June 19th 2008. I am really impressed with all of your weightloss. I have been really proud of myself, but wow, some of you are really dropping the pounds. I just hired a personal trainer and will strart working with her on Monday, I'm so excited. I know for my body type, when I exercise, I see results. Right now I just need a kick in the rear, that is why I hired one. Also one of my new years resolution is to exercise a little everyday no matter how much. These past two weeks have been difficult. I am a teacher so we have been off for two weeks and that has gotten me out of my regular routine. But I have lost weight. In fact since getting banded I have not put on any weight at all. It has been a slow steady loss. What I love most about the band is the fact that the weight is not coming back on, and I do not plan for it to ever come back on. With diets in the past, I would lose then the weight would always come back on. I love my band. I am need of another fill and plan to make an appointment when the office opens back up on Monday. Allie, I know there is no better feeling than coming home to a clean house. When my house is clean, I'm happy. My four year old and I just finished putting up the last of the Christams decorations and I feel sooooo good! It is a nice day here today so as soon as my 2 year old gets up from her nap we are going outside to ride bikes. Well, let me be honest....Avery will ride her bike, Brenn will ride her tricycle and I will walk. Who know, I may even break into a jog. Avery and I jogged back from the mailbox at my dads house the other day and it is atleast a 1/4 of a mile. I have so much more energy and I looove it!!!!! Best wishes and Blessings,

Wow, that was willpower not to eat them. Good for you, I'm not so sure what I would have done in that situation. Keep up the good work.

Personal Introduction-Working out my Ideas
Hey good luck to you. The band would probably be very good for you. I love Dave Ramsey, I have couple of his books and went to see him live. I would love to say that I am debt free and I was there except for the house. However, I did take out a loan for the Lab-Band. To me it was worth it because the band is changing my life and worth every penny. I do not regret in one bit. Good luck

Hello I'm a new member
Hey good luck to you, this really can change your life for the better, just keep informed and on top of things. The gas pains eased some with walking and taking some gas-x. My worst pain was in my left shoulder area. That was the worst because there was nothing I could do to ease the pain and it lasted for weeks. Some people have left shoulder pain and some don't. Best Wishes

Fat stories
Oh gosh, you just gave me a good laugh and I mean that in the nicest way. Just the visual of a tire coming out of your ass, cracks me up! I am one of those people who can laugh about her weight with those who I love and know where I'm coming from. Thanks for the great story, Love ya

What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
I know nothing can hurt us more as parents than seeing our own children hurting...that's the worst. Right now my children are 2 and 4, so I hope to be a slim hot mommy before they and thier friends take notice. My four year old did ask me one day why did I have a big belly. I told her it was because her and her sister used to be in there, that's the truth:redface:

5-10 things you wished you had bought PreOp
Hi and good luck, I would say you may need some sort of stool softner. When you go back to work take a water bottle to sip on, a pillow to sit down with and yes loose comfy pants. I am a teacher as well but had my surgery back in the summer. I will tell you that I am thankful that I have a bathroom in my classroom. It comes in handy when food wants to come back up. Just be careful and take your time. I have one 8th grade class for Career Orientation and the rest are High School, FACS. Take care

What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
I can't think of too many rude things. I'm sure they have been said, but I do live in La La land and tend to see the good in everyone. My husband tells me that just one day, he would love to wake up in my world, lol. I can think of one time after having my 1st baby in 2004, I weighed about 215. I was sitting in a doctors office waiting on my mom. I had my daughter with me, she was about 3 months old. I was talking to a lady, about the new baby and such. She said, "well, she sure is a pretty baby, just don't let her get to fat." What?!? Just because I'm fat, I'm going to let my baby get fat. BTW, she is 4 now and skinny as a bean pole. I have had someone ask me before if I was pregnant, when I wasn't. It did not bother me too much. I just brused it off. I can't believe how many of you have had rude comments made by family members, I'm so sorry. My family is everything to me. My brother who I love dearly and is not skinny, but only about 30 pounds overweight made a comment one time that my DH has trouble getting over, but we often laugh about it. My brother was splitting from his first wife and told my DH, no offense to Lucy or Mom, but I'm tired of fat as_es. So he was acknowledging that his sister and mom had a big behind, as well as his wife, and he was tired of hers. My DH still likes to bring that up from time to time. My brother also was looking at some old pictures the other day, and showing them to my dad's girlfriend. He said "oh, there is my sister, see her face". Uh hello, I'm also sitting right here, here is my face. I love him and know he means well.

What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
I hope you and your mom are working things out. My mom and I fussed and argued like most mothers and daughters but she was always there for me. I lost her nearly a year ago and I cry from the pain nearly every day. I wish you both the best.

slowly talking myself out of getting a fill
Oh, I see. My husband is the same way. I am sorry, I feel for you. I know the fills are not fun by any means I'm not even scared of needles. When I have mine I close my eyes and there is usually a nice nurse that holds my hand or rubs my forehead that seems to help. So yes it is unplesant, but it is worth it in the end for me it is anyway. I have been debating on needing another fill or not. My last one was Oct 8th, but I have about decided that I do need one. Good luck to you, lucy
