  1. Happy 33rd Birthday scardycat!

  2. 3 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 3rd Anniversary scardycat!

  3. Thanks to you all for your suggestions. I tried the pineapple juice and drank it slowly. I was indeed afraid that it would come back up but it actually stayed down. I now feel a 100% better. I could feel my esophogus getting raw from all the PB/sliming. Now after the pineapple juice, I feel so much better. I can tell that it passed because I'm not burping and no more pressure....YAY! Not to worry, I'm going to go on soups for a bit to let everything settle back down. Thanks so much, I was so worried. It's so comforting to know there are supportive people like you all in this endevour.
  4. Hi all, My husband and I went out to dinner last night. We were trying out our new eating out techniques where we share 1 meal instead of our usual ordering two. Well long story short, We ordered steak(pretty lean) and I ate about 2 oz. of it. Before I new it, I had PB'ed in the restroom of the restaurant twice before we left and as soon as we came home another time. I thought everthing came up but I still felt stuck even until this morning. I thought that I should take it easy and go back on liquids, but not even the liquids will stay down completely. I'm imagining a piece of steak that I didn't chew well enough is stuck somewhere in the upper pouch and it is not letting anything go down. I'm super freaked out and need suggestions. I feel extra burpy and slimy whenever I drink anything too. I have abnormal pressure in my chest. I'm afraid that I've been overly vomitting and now my band has slipped to. I pray it hasn't but I guess that's the worry wart side of me. Please help, is there anything I can drink or take to alleveate this discomfort??? Help please!
  5. Thanks so much HeatherO, Travelinsnorkel, and Lellow!!! You have renewed my hope and I will call my doctor's office today to see how soon they can see me. I guess I really don't know what true restriction feels like yet so I was a bit apprehensive that I will not ever know what that feels like. I will stay focued and see what happens. Thanks again for all of your insight. :yikes:
  6. I had my very first fill a month ago tomorrow. I already feel like I eat way too much for someone with a fill. How long do you all think I should wait until I schedule my next fill? I've only lost about 5lbs. (granted there were the holidays and all) since my first one and it bugs me that I still feel hungry not too long after I eat a meal. I try not to snack but sometimes it's inevitable. I wish I could have the restriction like many of you who are only able to eat 2-3 oz. and feel full. I'm just afraid that I've either stretched out my pouch or this isn't working. Another question I have is how many fills did you all have in the first year and what was the time line of receiving them? I'm asking this because I'm wondering if it is way too soon for me to go and get another band adjustment. For example, is one fill a month too excessive?
  7. Hi all, I was banded in late October and recently had my first fill about three almost four weeks ago. I was at a plateau at the time of my fill and Ive managed to loose about 5 lbs in the past 3 weeks since the fill. I was wondering if you all think it is too soon for me to get another fill? I can eat about a cup to a cup and a half at any meal including Breakfast (which I heard more people are tighter in the morning). I just feel like it is working but not at the pace that I want it to work at. How do I know when I need another fill? Please let me know if any of you had similar experiences. I just feel like I'm eating way too much after having a fill. Thanks so much!!

    It's been a while..help!!

Hey Girl, Just so you know, I went through the same thing. My first month post op I had only lost 15 lbs which to me was not enough. My doctor told me to not beat myself up about it because he said his "job" doesn't start until he does the fills. He told me that the first 15 was on my own and that he was proud of me. I had my first fill 3 weeks ago and I've managed to loose another 5lbs through the holidays. Be patient with it. Remember how last year you would have either stayed at the same weight if you weren't already gaining weight like me. You are also never alone in all of this. You're doing great, don't give up!!!!
  9. Thank you so much cottonwade, glorybee, lfein and kiz. With all the training you go through prior to the actual surgery, it's hard to remember everything and I needed a reminder. Cottonwade, you are truly an inspiration and so knowledgeable. I was never told that the fill can take some time to kick in. My doctor does the first fill under fluroscopy so he can see exactly how much fluid/restriction he put in so I assumed that it was efficient and that would be the sweet spot. Wishful thinking I guess. I love the learning and growing with this new "tool" that I have. I know there will be times that I hate it too but through the ups and downs, I don't regret my decision to get this done for ME. I need to practice patience and know that this will only help me. Thanks for all your thoughts. Have a great weekend!!!
  10. I just had my very first fill yesterday which took all of 5 minutes surprisingly. I didn't feel any different at the time except for temporary acid reflux. I did the clear liquid thing yesterday and today I'm doing my soft mushies. I ate a 1/2 cup of cream of wheat for breakfast and 2 hours later I was HUNGRY!! I tried to put it off until I couldn't take it anymore so I had a snack of a mushed up boiled egg (no mayo). That lasted about an hour. When I do eat the 1/2 cup and what not, I don't feel total restriction. Is there something wrong with me. I am now counting down the minutes to lunch and going crazy waiting. I don't want to push it and overeat but I hate this feeling that I have. Any advice? Is it all in my head? HELP ME!!

    weight watchers on the band?

I agree with many of you that we need to find what works for us. In the past, WW would only work for a short time and then I would find myself eating horribly again because I didn't have enough "self control" and felt like I was starving. Now with my band in, my hopes are that WW WILL work now because I will be able to choose what I want to eat and be able to actually eat the "1" serving of whatever it is and feel contentment. BTW, my WLS center actually suggested WW as one of the programs to follow (besides their program of course) because it does have structure to it. They even gave us a list of websites to look into and WW was one of them. Huh, go figure.
  12. A big thanks for those who helped to ease my nerves. I realize that this is a journey that I must take regardless of the anxiety and apprehension. I look up to ALL of you have had it done already and look forward to joining the special ranks of all of you. Please know that all of your thoughts and suggestions have helped me and I will remember them next week when it's my turn to get banded. Best wishes to all of you!
  13. Hi all! I'm excited to be apart of this forum. I am scheduled for surgery for next week and I am soooo extremely nervous, hence the name scardycat. One of my good friends just had her band put in a week and a half ago and she had a not so motivating experience. She told me that she was in pain and discomfort for a good week. She claims her heartburn and gas pressure were unbearable at times. I am hoping that my experience isn't as terrible. I know everyone said that "everyone is different" but my mind fills with doubt and I contemplate that what if my experience is worse than hers. I don't want to not do it and live the rest of my life wondering what would happen if I did. I don't know, please tell me that these nerves are normal and I am not being my over dramatic self. I am also so deeply nervous about the anesthetics. I have never had a major operation before so I am totally new to all of this. I want to know what everyone experienced shortly before going into surgery and then immediately after their surgery and also how long it took to recover. Also any advice to make this journey a bit more bearable. I am definitely ready to work hard to progress with weight loss, it's just the initial surgical step that scares me. So sorry to be so inquisitive but I guess I'm just looking for information to calm my nerves. Thanks for all your time!:grouphug:
