  1. Traditional Lap-Band surgery usually involves five small incisions into the abdominal cavity. Most of these are no more than one to two inches in length. These are used for placement of cameras and surgical equipment. If necessary, a larger incision may be made, up to five or more inches in some cases. This is rare, as it usually only happens during a complication or if the Lap-Band is being placed during another procedure, such as a tubal ligation or other surgery.

    Thanks

  3. No its not true. Typically you will have anywhere from 4-6 incisions and they will all be less than an inch in length. The largest incision is at the port site and is usually double the size of the others. My surg put my port and the incision for it inside my belly button. The rest of my incisions look like mosquito bite marks.

  4. Dumping syndrome occurs when food enters the bloodstream too quickly. It is a common effect of gastric bypass surgery because the natural stomach outlet (pyloric valve) has been removed and food enters the small intestine more quickly. Gastric bypass patients commonly experience dumping syndrome after eating sweets or high-fat foods, eating too much food, or drinking fluids with meals. Think about it. Take more suggestions from your medical practitoner. Good luck with your decision.

    Cheers

  6. As for as i am concerned, Nilesh A. Patel, MD, FACS, and Brent Bell, MD, are board-certified surgeons who specialize in weight loss surgery. Together, they have performed more than 2,500 successful bariatric surgeries. Their practice was recently featured in Newsweek magazine's showcase section as one of the top bariatric programs in the state.

    All the best...

  7. The Band is made of silicone rubber, and cannot be rejected. Of course it can become infected and require removal, but this is not the same as being rejected like a transplanted organ. Most surgeons use antibiotics to prevent infection, but rarely, some patients may develop an infection around the port site.

  8. Yes, some women maybe attracted to slightly chubby men, but most women are turned off sexually by overweight men.

Most likely, she will think that you are lazy, is not bothered with your own health and that you are more than likely proned to obesity related diseases. If that is her perception, how do you think your chances will be if pitted against a healthy looking male counterpart for her attention?

So if you want to attract women, the first thing to do is to start losing weight now.

  9. When you've decided to have lap band surgery is the right choice for you and your weight loss goals, your Medical practitioner will put you on a fairly strict lap band pre-op diet to prepare your body for the surgery.

Caloric Intake: a limited calorie intake of 800 to 1,200 calories per day

liquid Diet: In the last week or two before surgery, you'll likely be asked to begin a liquid diet.

Protein and Protein supplements: Protein will be an important part of your pre-op lap band surgery diet. In fact,

you'll need to consume 70 to 120 grams of protein each day, as directed by your surgeon.

    Cheers!

  10. Lap band surgery can be lifesaving for many morbidly obese patients. Lap band surgery is safer than other forms of weight loss surgery. Gastric bypass surgery carries a mortality rate of 0.4 percent while vertical sleeve gastrectomy carries a mortality rate of 0.39 percent. Don't be Scared. Everything would be ok.

    Cheers...

    Thanks
