You can do it!! Mind over matter....mind over matter. Just a few more days!!!!!

    Just had a hard day

Keep at it K@t...it does make a difference. I lost 16 lbs during my two week pre-op diet and the dr said my liver was excellent and it made the surgery much easier to do. Just keep thinking of the light at the end of the tunnel. Keep at it!! Honestly, if I can do it, anyone can!!
  3. ...no...I don't mean "what to wear"!! I'm getting banded in two more days. Should I buy some "dressings" to have on hand at home? In other words, will there be any type of dressing that I have to change or anything like that? Any help/experiences on this would be appreciated. Otherwise, I think I have all I need. (famous last words!!). Tks!

Dang it! Dang it! Dang it!

Nope...unfortunately, no Protein drinks (per say) aloud, unless it is clear. I hear that Isopure is clear (?); if so perhaps I'll try and get my husband to pick some up. But next week I can start on things like ensure and boost for protein (and I do have those in the house). Tks for your help

    April 2006 Bandits

Hi all. Yup, I made it! Go figure! I still can't quite believe I have it!!! Anyways, tks for all the support. I just wrote a lengthly post under the thread "Dang it! Dang it! Dang it!" in the "support" room/forum. So, if u want more detail you can read that. I didn't know how to copy and paste it here and I don't want to re-type it. Lets just say that I'm ABSOLUTELY FAMISHED....and didn't expect that. Have been famished since I got out of recovery yesterday. Anyways....to those who are being banded coming up....good luck!!

    Overdue FUN THREAD!!!

I'm game. Okay...I was just getting ready for a long hot soak in my big tub ...so... Bra: commando! no bra right now, the girls are swingin' free and clear Panties: light blue panties (hipsters) with different coloured stiletto high heeled shoes all over them (I'm not even a shoe person)....what can I say..they came in the multi pack!!! One more sleep for me till bandland!!!!!! *tosses undies in the air and heads to last bath for awhile*....(sigh)

    divorce

My two cents worth: I don't think it will negatively affect a marriage/relationship unless there was already something fundamentally "wrong" with it. Obviously the communication has to be completely open with the significant other from pre-band onwards..... Good luck Joe...if you are facing some hard decisions.

Thanks for your comments everyone; most helpful!

    Just had a hard day

It will get easier K@T. I was 99% faithful on mine (the very odd slip...and even then the slip only consised of like 2 noodles one time etc). I had to do it for two weeks....the first few days were the hardest (headahces, cravings etc)...but it was the carb. withdrawal. Stick with it! You'll do okay. What got me through was "baby steps"....one small step at a time. I couldn't look at the whole day let alone the whole week (or 2)...it was too daunting...so just have short "lookaheads"! Good luck!

    Planter Faciitis

I got this after a soccer injury years ago and yes, it is VERY painful. Thankfully, it only lasted for about a year. The best thing you can do (and was also told to me by the specialists) was to NEVER go bare feet and don't just wear any shoe. Be sure to wear good running shoes with good support. The trick is to wear them even in the house (get a new clean pair for in-house wear if you like). Keep them by your bed like slippers and put them on as soon as you get up. Without them, it can't heal and will only get worse each time you don't have the support. Good luck.

Yayyyyyyy!!! Glad to hear that it went so well! Hmmmm, blow up things on your lets (getting images and visions of another type of blow up doll!!! ) hahaha.... Seriously....way to go...I'll be joining you in bandland on Friday. I have to stay the night (due to my sleep apnea) but I will be home on Sat. Hubby is staying in a hotel so he can bring me home the next day (we live 1.5 - 2 hrs away). Take care.

    April 2006 Bandits

I hear ya! My surgery is Friday as well. I'm mostly afraid of "not waking up" and then not being here for my husband; that is my greatest fear. Unreasonable...and not logical, I know...but I love him sooooo much! Which is part of the reason I'm dong this (& he is behind me 1000%)...the reason being I want to be here (ie. alive!) with him for as long as I can!!! I'm sure all will be okay for both of us and everyone else on here...but yup, it is still difficult to get past those feelings/fears sometimes. Where are you? I'm in Canada.

    Who were you banded by?

Well, I have to say it is nice to see some posts from Canucks on here. I've been in the main sites on this forum but not in the Canadian one. I'm surprised that there isn't more postings! Anyways....hi all....I'm getting banded on 21 Apr (4 more sleeps!!) by Drs. Joffee/Yau in Toronto. I'm nervous (to be expected) but I think more excited than nervous. If anyone else was banded at TLBC, it would be great to connect to share experiences. Good luck to any of you who are pre-op or post-op! Cheers...

    Breasts (women only)

I had a reduction about 7 yrs ago and to be honest it was much more painful than I had expected. I had expected a lot too. I didn't realize how little I would be able to lift my arms etc...I was very limited in a lot of activity for quite some time. As for the nipple sensation thing...I lost virtually all feeling. Mind you, unlike some of my friends, it wasn't a big deal to me...my nipples were never high on my list for sexual satisfaction (if u get my meaning!)...so I didn't mourn the loss of that sensation much. But I do know some ppl who that would really bother. WRT scars, I still have scars even after all this time (but I'm not a great "healer" overall)...the scars were really nasty for quite some time. But worth it in the long run. That being said, the pain/discomfort and possible loss of nipple sensation is probably worth it if you need/want the reduction for reasons that are important to you. Don't worry about them taking off too much!!! You should be more concerned about them not taking enough off! Good luck.
