    Any Regrets After Lap Band?

I lost 80 pounds since October and eat what I want. I just eat much much less. I definitely wouldnt call the LApband a "crap gamble" and dont think of it that way, otherwise you are destined for failure. I still want to eat alot and I dont feel Physically full, just my band is full, thats why I cant eat alot. Last night my friend took me out to dinner and I order apps, entree, and dessert. We took a long time between eating and I couldnt eat it all, but I was happy and enjoyed what I was able to eat. So, stop worrying, go do it, and good luck!

    Any Regrets After Lap Band?

Wow- sorry u havent been successful, but you are entitled to your opinion. Everything doesnt work for anyone. But, have you been going for all your fills, have you had restriction? If not, go back until you. do. But, I dont agree with the fact that you have to starve in order to be thin. Because, to be honest with you. I pretty much eat what I want, just cant eat as much as I used to and I've lost 80 pounds since October 08. I can just imagine if I ate EXACTLY how Im supposed to, I would be thin by now. It doesnt sound right with what you're going through. Maybe you should change docs. But, dont give up. Give it another try. Good luck:thumbup:
  4. Do yourself a favor and take your pain meds whether you need them or not. They will help you sleep and also will help you if pain from thw incisions kicks in. This is what I was told. Youre gonna be sore and wont be able to sleep. Trust me. You're also gonna have pain from gas that doesnt feel like gas. Its gonna feel like back pain, shoulder pain, etc. Get up and walk as much as you can, that helps. Good luck.
  5. Theres nothing wrong with you. You're human. WE have all been there a million times. You just let it get away from you. So what !!! GWT IT BACK, GIRL!!! You've learned a leson. Dont let it get so far next time. Nip it in the bud at a 5 pound gain next time and then get another fill. You know as well as I that this thing "aint no miracle cure". We have to deal with this bullshit forever. I go to therapy so I can learn to change my eating behaviors that I've used for all of my life. Getting the band didnt make all that go away. I know you want to kick yourself in the ass, but whats done is done. Start over again. You can do it. You did it before. Like Joy Behar says, "So what, Big Deal"! We will forever be slipping up and starting over. Thats just who we are. So, go get ur fill, tighten up and be on ur way down the scale again. By next Spring, you will be down there again. Look how fast the months have gone by already. It will be here before you know it!!! Good Luck!!!!!

    please help

Its not about rubbing people the wrong way. Its about someone who THINKS they are a doctor and attempts to dispute everything someone else KNOWS to be fact. He skulks around the message boards TRYING to appear educated, when he does nothing more than give HIS experience as to what happened to him and discourage others from Lapband surgery because of his bad experience with it. A lot of the people here feel very vulnerable and sensitive about how they are feeling, unsure which route to go, and are loooking for someone to guide them. He tries to make people feel inferior, thats what makes him feel superior. I feel sorry for him and anyone who thinks he does this board a service, they are obviously just like him. We are here to support others, not "demean or dehumanize", but to encourage and support. But thats just me. Im a different person.

Wow- I'm sad for you. I will pray for your lost soul. You are an uninformed negative entity here on this site. I feel bad that your lack of success spills over into bitterness towards everyone else. Be Well. I will no longer respond to your dribble.

Tell me something, Headhunter. Do you skulk around the forums to refute everything everyone says because you think you are some kind of authority on these procedures. What I said is fact, given directly to me by bypass patients, nutritionists, and doctors by the Westchester Medical Group. I'm assuming you think you know more than the doctors. You are not a doctor. You can only give your OPINION, not debate what is medical fact. DUMPING SYNDROME IS WHAT THIS SIDE EFFECT OF BYPASS SURGERY IS AND IT IS A FACT. SUGAR IS NO LONGER YOUR FRIEND ONCE YOU GET BYPASS. DO YOUR RESEARCH. AND AS FOR FEELING NORMAL, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BEING A BYPASS PATIENT. WHY ARE YOU ATTEMPTING TO TWIST MY WORDS.? WHAT I THINK IS THAT YOU'RE NOT NORMAL.:thumbup:

Dont listen to that crap. Everyones weight loss success varies. Ive lost 70 pouns so far since October and I havent even been strict. I eat what I want in smaller portions, have Snacks, drink wine, etc. I try to use my treadmill for about 30 mins a day, not everyday. It depends on the person. Good luck.. I chose lapband because I didnt want such invasive surgery like bypass. And,also, I have no co-morbidity issues like high blood pressure or diabetes. I was just fat. You can never have sugar again with bypass. You will experience really bad pain, gas, bloating and diarrhea with the smallest amount. I needed to feel like a "normal" person. But, you have to choose whats right for you.
  12. You can drink. I'm not a big drinker, but I drink when I go out, drink with dinner once in a while. No problems. I have lost 70 pounds so far, and have no problems. Why did they tell you not to drink anyway? I was also told by a PA that I probably wont be able to ever has a cheeseburger again also. He was wrong. Its only a band, not a death sentence. I can see the problem with beer, since its like its carbonated, but wine and mixed drinks, I dont think so. But, everyone is different. I eat what I want, drink what I want and have no problems. To each his own. Good luck!
  13. Exactly. I know the difference between real hunger and just wanting to eat. That annoys the shit outta me when the nutritionist or the doctor tells me that. I know I'm an overeater and eat when I'm not hungery, but let me tell you, I KNOW WHEN I'M HUNGRY AND EATING 1/2 CUP OF food AT MEALS DOESNT FILL ME UP. Dont get me wrong, Im glad I got his done and I have lost 70 lbs so far, but thats because I PHYSICALLY GET ANYMORE FOOD IN .
  14. IT IS HUNGER- DONT LET ANYONE TELL YOU DIFFERENT.:tongue_smilie:
  15. I also was under the impression that I would be full and not want to eat any more. But, thats not the way it is. I LITERALLY CANT eat alot at one time anymore. Otherwise, I will throw up. I'm still hungry. Anyone would be after eating a half cup of food. But, Im gratefull this is working like that though. I've lost about 70 lbs so far since I started the whole process last June. I recently stopped PB'ing because its not good to do and I am trying to eat better. I wish I had known all this prior, but I still would have had it done anyway. I look and feel great. But that stuck feeling is only releived by bringing up the food again, because it wont go down and Water wont help.
  16. Hello, everyone! I had my 3rd fill in March and Wow! I finally got what I wished for. I dont think I'm too tight or have too much restriction, but I cant help still eating at the same speed and still taking big bites. I've lost 66 lbs since October and continue to lose slowly, but steadily. Im not looking for sympathy or judgement. Here is my question: Because I eat too fast and dont chew my food into mush or take small bites, I tend to throw up. So, is it really THAT bad to throw up and what can it do to me after a long period of time?
  17. Thats what I thought. It hasnt gone thru the band yet into my stomach.
  18. Thanks! I'm gonna try it.

    Text messaging another girl...

You are very wise for your years. You seem to have a very good head on your shoulders and know exactly what youre talking about. This guy texting the daycare worker DEFINITELY has other motives than just flirting. It is very inappropriate and the girl's mother purposely told the wife about it so she can address ir with her husband. I think his wife caught him red-handed and he was very guilty. Btw, I dont believe that once a cheat, always a cheat. We are all humans, not perfect, and make mistakes. It is devastating to be cheated on, but everyone's circumstances are different.

    Post Op Question

Immediately after surgery I felt like "OMG!!!!, what did I just do?". I felt scared and like a big loser who had to resort to surgery to lose weight. But, I got ove that real fast once the pounds started coming off. I was banded in October and have lost 64 pounds, feel great, look great and can do a lot of stuff now. This will pass for you. Its very common. Dont worry. Good Luck!!!

    Feeling Weak...

OMG!! You should be drinking Protein drinks until you move to the next stage, which is mushies. You are supposed to get 70-90 grams of protein per day. If you are feeling weak and sluggish, you are starving yourself. Didnt anyone tell you at the doctor's office what you should be eating or did they just band you and send you home?? I bought Isopure Perfect lowcarb protein shakes at www.vitaminhsoppe.com
  25. Dont worry, I dont think ur band has slipped. Just sounds like ur band was never filled enough to give u restriction. If u havent thrown up at least once, you are not tight enough or you chew really, really well, take small bites, and eat slowly. I finally got restriction on my 3rd fill and since October of 2008, I have lost 65 pounds. You should have gone to you doctor in the past year for a fill. But, keep your appointment, get ur fill and u should be fine. Dont worry.
