  1. You aren't alone on both topics-- the birthday or the access issues. If I remember correctly, we'll turn 50 together, BG. Mine's June 25. Not looking forward to it mainly because it's a blow to the ego. I still feel young inside!
  2. As with all of these Jell-o treats, I do advise using ingredients like sugar free Jell-o products, Splenda, and Cool Whip Free.

  4. I'm off to another chance to show off today! I'm a member of Clan Forrester, and today is the local Scottish Festival and Games! For the past few weeks, my roomie Dante and I have been working on my costume, since my old ones don't fit or don't match the local climate. Here's a picture. Hope I made the image small enough.

  6. Okay, here's the more fattening version. However, it doesn't require an ice cream machine, and it can be made using sugar free and fat free ingredients to reduce the carb impact. I found sugar freee chocolate chips at my grocery store, so I may make my own chocolate sauce using Splenda. We'll see how it goes. BTW, I'm allergic to nuts, so I'd appreciate someone telling me how the nuts taste in this one. The original recipe has 382 calories and 32 carbs. I'll bet we can reduce it with a bit of effort.

  8. You're about to have some treats, my friend. I'm testing a new recipe today, and judging by the taste that --ahem!--accidentally splashed on my hand and had to be licked up, this is a new favorite in my household! Easy and low carb!
  9. I can't believe it! I found not one, but two substitutes for ice cream, just when the weather is warming down here in Florida and I'm missing those cool, creamy treats. Here's the lower calorie and carb one: Jell-o Milk Sherbert. (Bless you, Grandma!) By simply using sugar free Jell-o and Splenda, I can make this practically a "freebie" on my diet. Woohoo!

  11. You can definitely use Splenda. I've been using Cool Whip Free, which for me is the better use of carbs and calories, but that's a personal choice. This recipe is delicious! I've made it for years.
  12. You got it, BG. Also, most of my recipes are jpg's, which means you may be able to right click on them and save them to your computer for later printing. Honey, you want mushies and low-carb? Coming right up!
  13. I've uploaded a few recipes recently, but I've gotten very few comments about them. I do appreciate feedback. Do you like them? Would you prefer I didn't do this? Any requests? Lena

Ben, I can't wait to hear from you. Your eloquence is worth keeping in my files for the next time someone asks me why I did something so "radical."
  16. I'm not surprised at all by this. I know I've bought clothes, taken them home to find out they don't fit, and then made the trip back for a return -- all because I won't use their dressing rooms. I'll have to lose another fifty pounds before I'll consider re-evaluating my masochism enough to use a store dressing room.
  17. As promised, here are some of the variations. There are more! Wait until you see the delicious mushies I found! I'm so excited! Even though I'm on solids, I remember how difficult it got eating only mushies and "clear liquids." These help!

  19. I found this great recipe among all my grandmother's diabetic cookbooks. I altered it by using SF Jell-o and Cool Whip Free, but it works just the same. Tomorrow, I'll post variations. This is so versatile, I had to share.

Wendy's a brave woman, IMHO. I've not yet faced the idea of appearing in public in a swimsuit, for all I joke about bikini's at my age.
  22. Oh, dayum! I wish I'd gone now. I've considered Val very yummy since it would have been illegal to even consider what I wanted to do to him! LOL!
  23. I had to stay overnight, and I had a slightly different list. Everyone's a little different, I guess. Instead of a straw, I took a sippy cup and I'd removed the little plastic regulator inside. Mine looked like a small purple travel mug, so it wasn't so bad. It controlled how much liquid I took in fairly well. I also had to take my CPAP machine.
  24. I signed up for the beta test, and I'm pleased so far. Yes, they need to work out some bugs, but it's not bad. Here's what I got in my email: Welcome to Food.com!
