    Hair loss

Thanks for the info about the Joan Rivers powder for the scalp. I'm going on QVC.Com right now to purchase it. If anyone else has any suggestions they will be much appreciated.I'm tired of cleaning all my hair off the bathroom floor and the shower drain. Lorraine

    Hair loss

I am at my wits end regarding the hair loss. I have bought multiple hair pieces and have even bought a full wig. I had average hair not too thick not too thin. I'm 20 months post surgery and I am still having extreme hair loss. It has gotten so bad I have to wear 2 hair pieces and now I am having a hard time keeping them in place because I have so little hair to attach them. The worst part is I have only lost 20 pounds since surgery. I am really thinking of removing the band. I have become so depressed. If anyone has any suggestions or support stories it might lift my spirits. Like someone else said I thought it was menapause but now I don't think so, I am convinced it is the band. Please help. Smoking and the Band

I had my banding Oct. 14. I had lost 16 pounds before surgery on liquid diet. I had quit smoking for 8 yrs and started again a year before my surgery. Which helped me lose about 15 pounds. Right before my surgery I was told I had to quit smoking or it would erode my band. I did quit the day before surgery. I lost 6 pounds post surgery on liquid diet. Once I was able to eat solid foods I started gaining weight. I have gained back the 6 pounds I had lost post surgery and I blame it on quiting smoking, because everytime I want a cigarette I eat. It's a vicious cycle. I have absolutely no restriction. My husband said I am eating more post surgery then pre surgery. I am going for my first fill on Dec 12th. I hope this helps. There are only a few things I have problems with, eating too fast and pannini bread. So with no restriction I'm afraid I will continue to gain weight. Lorraine:crying:

    Getting hotter in here?

I'm 54 and have been having hot flashes for ten yrs. I had a hysterectomy 2 yrs ago and OMG The sweat would pour off of me like a waterfall. This would happen constantly, to the point of embarassment. I had my lapband surgery 8 days ago and have had a 90% decrease in the hot flashes and sweats. Even if I don't lose all the weight I want to, the decrease in hot flashes was worth the surgery.

6 Days out, and WOW !!!!

Congrats: I also had my band placed on 10/14. Unfortunately, my MD has me on clear liquids from a week prior to surgery. Ive been on liquids for two weeks and losing my mind. I had no complications, no nausea, no vomiting only very bad gas pains in shoulders for two days after surgery. WHAT ARE YOU ABLE TO EAT AT THIS POINT?

    Denied :-(

Don't get down. I was turned down by a psych eval done by a social worker after going through all the drs appts and tests. This so call social worker/psych evaluator said I was to depressed for the surgery. I didn't give up that was three years ago. I started anew in June and everything went well and I had my surgery oct 14 just 2 days ago. Just remember things happen for a reason. You need to find a dr that has a staff that knows the ins and outs of the insurance companies. They will tell you exactly what you need and won't send in something if they think you will be denied. Good luck. Keep your chin up

    Anyone from Queens

Hi: I'm from North Flushing. I was banded two days ago. Besides the gas pains and mild discomfort at incision sites, I feel pretty good. Having a hard time drinking 60 ounces or water. I wish you well and thin.

Pain when eating, What can it be??

There are so many Doctors doing lapbands, I'm sure you can find a doctor where you live. Do ignore any problems you could get into big trouble.
