    Cheese killing...

I guess the point is, who decides that it's time for a post to die? Isn't that the job of the moderators? I know the purpose of the tread killing group was well intentioned but, as you can see, not everyone feels the same way. Eventually posts die out naturally. Those that don't and need intervention should be brought to the attention of the moderators.

    Cheese killing...

I think it started out as a joke but now that it's moving from one thread to another it's getting old real fast. And to all the new people, be careful... cheese is fattening... a little goes a long way. Sorry, I'm tired and getting a little silly.

    Question about Moderators

Lisa is gone so why keep this thread going? I think you accomplished your purpose. LET IT DIE...

    Bring back Lisa Bones....

Delarla made her decision so it's time to move forward and get on with the business of supporting one another in our weight loss efforts.

    amount of food

Most people are unfilled at the time of banding. When the swelling subsides, people frequently lose restriction and can eat what they did pre-surgery. One and a half to 2 cups of food at a meal is pretty average. Keep in mind that it might take several fills for you to achieve restriction.

    Question about Moderators

I believe they call it a "thread killer" and while some people find it amusing, others find it annoying. As they say, to each his own.

    Would you have done this?

I bought the protein special K today but have not tried it. Is it similar in taste to the regular one?

    Xelerate? any reviews ?

I have a friend who tried it and rated it "useless" but that's only one opinion.

    Question about surgery

All piercing have to come out because there is no way to cover the ENTIRE metal with tape. I doubt you'll have to endure any shaving. Betadine (the brown stuff) is no longer used in most hospitals. About two years ago it was replaced with chlorhexidine... it's colorless and a better anti-bacterial agent.

When does the fill stay with you

I would have to agree that it's a very individual amount. Someone did a poll on here about fills and it seemed like the majority of people with a 10 cc band needed 7.5 cc or greater to achieve good restriction. I had #3 about a month ago and it's gone now. I have an appt. for 9/7 when I hope to get a small fill.

    anyone had knee surgery?

I did the hyalgan injections and they did nothing. I appreciated the honesty of the orthopedic surgeon who told me "the knee is gone and all you can do is a total replacement." He told me if I "shopped around" I might get a surgeon to do an arthoscopic procedure but that it would not produce any positive outcome. You are young so I suspect your knee damage is not yet near an "end-stage" level. Get at least 2 opinions before you make a decision. Also, you might want to hold off now that you're losing weight. Each pound of weigh lost take 3 pounds of pressure off weight bearing joints (hips, knees).

    Question about Moderators

Penni, Neither you nor Lisa ever did anything to me so I have no involvement or right to comment on what went on in the past. Thank you for your explanation and for clearing the air. Perhaps now things can get back to normal and refocus on the issues related to lapband support.

    Therapist pushing me toward RNY

Don't race into any decision until you explore and UNDERSTAND all the options available to you. Many people will have opinions but it's YOUR body and it's ultimately YOUR decision.

    What was your last straw?

My final straw was the decline in my health. I have end-stage arthritis in my knee and need a total knee replacement. The orthopedic surgeon told me I would face a 6 month recovery at my pre-band weight versus a 6 week recovery at a weight less than 200 pounds. Also, the life of the joint replacement is lessened the more weight you carry. My "reward" when I lose the weight is not a day at the spa or some fancy trip... it's an end to the daily pain I have once I can get that new knee. LOL.

    Question about Moderators

I did come to this forum until April of this year so I am not privy to what went on as discussed in DeLarla's post. What I do believe is that the position of "moderator" subjects a person to being held to highest standards. While the job is voluntary and appointed, it's not without responsibility and morality. I can't imagine why one person would confess and apologize for hurting a group of people and lie about other peoples' involvement. It would seem to me that Alex (owner) is the one who could best address this problem since I'm rather certain that he has access to these private messages and can track them by screen name. On a personal note, I have never had a problem with any member or any moderator on this board. If I don't like it when a thread goes "off topic" with ridiculous banter, I simply avoid the thread and don't participate. I have disagreed with the positions taken by some of the members from time to time. If I feel strongly about it, I comment in a respectful and diplomatic way, the same way I want people to handle differences of opinion with me. The bottom line here is that members HAVE to TRUST that the moderators are acting in the best interest of the forum mission as well as the members who make up the forum. Accusations have been made that can only be addressed by the people mentioned and the board owner. This could all be laid to rest if those people addressed the issues mentioned. At this point, I think it's the right thing to do. Again, this is just my opinion.

    The "DeLarla's Back" Fun Thread

LOL, He came to visit Raul Julia in the hospital and I didn't recognize him. Who expects DeNiro to be walking down the hall in an ICU at 1 AM? I asked him if I could help him and he said, "It's me, Bobby." I said "Uh, ok, but can I help you? Visiting hours are over." He kinda smiled to himself and then whispered, "Robert DeNiro?" I felt like a complete ass and apologized but he was very nice and told me to call him Bobby. After his visit with Raul Julia (who was admitted under another name), he came and chatted with the staff for about 15 minutes and then left... very normal person but shorter than I imagined.

    What's Going On?

If the site is going to be taken down for a PLANNED update, it would be very nice and beneficial if a notice could be posted on the site.

    Please help me

Welcome. For me, it was a 3 month process from initial visit to the actual surgery date.

    Eraser-sized bite-sized pieces???

I take normal bites (about 1/2" to 3/4") and chew thoroughly and find chicken to be the hardest solid protein for me to tolerate.

    Throwing in the towel

I can definitely relate to working for every pound lost.

    Hot dogs?

The person to ask is your surgeon.

    No "crunches"?

It's best to follow the advice of your surgeon and ask him/her for the rationale concerning the decision. My surgeon is fine with any exercise 6 weeks post-op.

    Open vs Closet Bander Questions

Because I have a lot of weight to lose and kept off 90 of a 230 pound weight loss before deciding on having surgery, I decided to tell only 2 close friends and no family members. It's taken 3 fills for me to get restriction and I wanted to avoid questions before my weight loss was noticable. As in the past, once people begin to notice and ask questions, I will tell them about the surgery. For now, this is a personal battle that I choose to wage alone and it seems to be the right choice for me.

    Question about Moderators

Wheetsin, thanks for answering those questions. While I never gave any of them much thought, it was an education reading through the thread.
