Nope, it's not just you. Some people have increased restriction when they fly, some are increased in the AM, some are increased when it's their time of the month, etc. Our bodies are composed largely of water so it's natural to feel "looser" on some days and tight on others. Just another quirk of the band.

Eharmony SUCKS! Class action lawsuit underway!
Elisabethsew replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
Heaven knows that are PLENTY of dating sites out there and a good majority of them are targeted to specific audiences. There are gay sites, straight sites, big and beautiful sites, christian sites, jewish site... and on and on. I would rather invest my time exploring sites that I find interesting to me rather than wasting time complaining about sites that don't allow X,Y or Z. Quite frankly, I'd prefer people got this upset over the fact that there are so many Americans who can't afford health care and a large amount of elderly Americans who can't retire because they can't afford to pay for their Rx medications. That's my spin on things. -

Lap Band and the super-obese?
Elisabethsew replied to Cascavel's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know my surgeon operates on people with high BMIs and I would suggest you "let your fingers do the walking" and call a few of the surgeons in your area. Most have PAs or NPs working with them to answer these questions. Best of luck to you. -
You can easily feel my port but it does not hurt or interfere with sex.

Eharmony SUCKS! Class action lawsuit underway!

I never bothered checking out that site as the commercials were a turn-off. There is another company called chemistry.com that is advertising now and offering the first 5 matches for free. I haven't looked into it because I JUST now saw that commercial. -
Help me please, I cant keep water down!
Elisabethsew replied to hotpink_bubbles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You definitely need an unfil and should see your surgeon ASAP. If you can't keep water down, you risk dehydrating and will eventually need IV fluids. -
There is no need to remove the saline under x-ray. In fact, most people don't even get fills under it. Your MD just needs to numb the area with lidocaine, insert a needle and aspirate the saline into the syringe until he/she can't aspirate anymore. Essentially, you'll have no restriction but you also won't have the complications of the baby's growth causing reflux with an inflated band.

It was most likely a staph infection and they can only be cured by lancing them. Once they are opened and the pus drains out, the hot soaks keep it open and draining. The antibiotic does the rest of the job. In 5-7 days, you're cured so you won't have to worry at all about your surgery be canceled.

The band is deflated for the entire 2nd and 3rd trimester of your pregnancy. There are no complications associated with pregnancy and the band so listen to your MD. Best ofluck to you and hubby.

As those of us who work with patients in critical care units know, physician assisted "suicide" has been going on for MANY years. It's not documented but it's done. I think it's important for people to make their wishes known legally. It's also very interesting to take a stance when you're healthy because when you're actually in a life/death situation, your stance just might change. I have two examples: 1. My father was in septic shock and dying. He battled for a solid month in the ICU. The time came when all his systems were failing and I told me father that if he wanted to rest and be out of pain, I would see to it that he would comfortably go. The entire family was around the bedside and he said, "I want to fight." We were all shocked but I told him if that's what he wanted, he and I would fight together. He lived about another 10 days. I made him a DNR so he was spared CPR, etc. but he died on his terms. 2. I have a heart condition that has no cure. Working with the critically ill patients for so long made me declare that I would NEVER want to be placed on a ventilator to breathe for me. Well, the day came when my heart "acted up" at work. I was placed in a wheelchair and rushed to the ER. It was so hard to breathe and I remember thinking, "Soon they'll put a tube in to help me breathe and I'll feel better." I offer these two examples as food for thought...

You'll be zooming into wonderland before you know it. I lost 1/2 pound this week but only count full pounds so I'm leaving my stats as is. Tomorrow, I get my 8th (and hopefully final) dose of weekly intravenous iron. It appears I don't absorb iron and my levels were so low that I had to get it IV. Cheers to all the losers this week.

Hi Debra, Regurgitating at night is not healthy and it's a sign that you're overfilled. To prevent complications, you really should schedule a small unfill.

She obviously replied to the email with a snide response for the sole purpose of pissing you off and that's exactly what happened. I would not acknowledge her email at all... through writing or verbally. If you don't add fuel to her fire, she'll need to let it die out.

If you're vomiting any blood, you really need to see your surgeon ASAP. It could be a minor problem but there is no way to know without an exam and possibly some testing. Stay on clear liquids and call your MD.

It looks like a few of us are shift workers. I'm an RN and work 12 hour night shifts. I'm working the holiday also.

I hope everyone has a happy and healthy Memorial Day weekend. Let's keep in mind all of our soldiers over in Iraq and hope they return home very soon.

Rosie, Paris, Brittnay, Lindsay, Nicole, Tom & Katie, Brad & Angelina, Imus, Howard Stern... the list goes on. LOL.

It sounds like the psych evaluator needs to be evaluated. I'm so sorry you got such a run around but at least you got the approval and can check her off your list... forever!

How much you can pack into a pair of pants....
Elisabethsew replied to Susan3343's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a family member who works in the fashion industry. They use 15 pounds as the "standard" between 2 sizes but that only applies up to size 14. I know my clothes were VERY tight when I was 351 pounds and I was able to wear my 4 x tops and 28-30 pants for quite some time. I'm down about 80 pounds now and wear a 2X top and a 22-24 pant. I read something quite interesting about the weight loss "people" you see in the magazines. Many times, the before picture is actually the "after" and the after is how they began. Companies pay "models" to gain 30+ pounds for those before shots. Because the models are natually thin, they lose what they gain fairly easily. It's similar to movie stars who gain weight to play a role and then lose it once filming is over. -
Best of luck to everyone staying on plan. It's the official start of the summer season and I'm hoping this will be my final summer wearing a skirted bathing suit. LOL. The reality of me in a bathing suit should be excellent motivation for me to not eat off plan. Happy Memorial Day!

I'm in my mid-40's. What specific questions do you have?
-
I have never been to a tanning salon but there is a lot of research that shows being exposed to bright lights lifts one's spirits and OTT lights are used to combat depression in countries that experience long periods of darkness. I've been spending hours out in my yard. In a moment of insanity about a month ago, I decided to relandscape the backyard myself. It's been an intense workout but I saved tons of money and it's looking really good. The bonus is being out in the sun where I am productive, using all my muscle groups, and not thinking about food. The time outside passes very quickly and I often have to remind myself to go inside and get some lunch. I wouldn't recommend a total relandscape job but creating a garden area or a container garden really can work wonders. I still would not be caught dead in a bathing suit. LOL.

At 4-5 weeks out you'll be able to tolerate a soft diet with no problem. You can eat fish, soft potatoes and cooked veggies, etc. Cake will go down with no problem. Once you start getting fills, you'll begin to feel restriction but most people get no restriction with an empty band so you should be able to eat at the wedding with no one questioning you.
