  2. Happy 33rd Birthday watermum!

  3. 3 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 3rd Anniversary watermum!

  4. I have found it worse as the pregnancy progresses. I had to have a complete unfill as I could keep nothing down. Even now with no fluid in the band I am still not able to keep food down unless it is very soft. Should settle once baby gets here though.
  5. DS is 13 months and we use mainly cloth. A mixture of Baby Beehinds, PeaPods and some I made him. I am already working on my nappy stash for this bub and he/she will be in nappies all made by me. Gotta luv MCN's.
  6. Well I went and saw my surgeon today and he did a complete unfill. He said it should help heaps and it has. I came home and was able to drink water plus I had some low fat yogurt. For dinner I made pumpkin soup. It felt so good to be able to eat a bit and not throw it straight back up. He also weighed me and in 5 days I had lost 1.5 kg, mostly because I couldn't keep even fluid down. At least I know that the baby will now be getting proper nutrition plus I can go back to the eating plan my dietitian has me on. I am feeling much happier again :frown:.
  7. I haven't posted on this forum for a long time but thought this might be the place to come back into. I am 16 weeks with our second baby and am not going well. My band only has 4 cc in and I am throwing up everything that goes down. Some days are ok but others I can't even get fluids down. It feels so tight that I often only eat one meal a day and its never very much. I have tried going back to liquids which hasn't really helped. One day I can eat something with no worries and then the next day it could be making me sick. I think I need to get an unfill. I am just so sick of throwing everything up.
  8. I just wanted to say thank you for all your support and sharing your personal experiences. I saw my doctor yesterday for the first time since my surgery and he is really happy with how I am going. I told him about what I am eating and how much. He told me not to worry and said I was on track. Such a hugh relief. He has even decided to give me my first fill sooner as my weight loss has bee, to use his words, 'wonderfully good'. Needless to say I am a happy camper now . Thanks again everyone.
  9. I am a few days shy of 4 weeks post op. I have healed well and am starting to eat more solid food now I am at the end of my mushie phase. I was told I would only be able to eat about half a cup of food at a time but I am eating more. Sometimes I can easily eat a full cup (measuring cup) before I feel full. I have had no fills yet. I always stop once I feel 'full' and have only overeaten on a few occasions (mainly at the start of the mushie phase when I sometimes ate too fast). I am worried as I have been the same weight for two weeks even though I am walking for 45min every second day. I am eating well and have only had a few 'naughty' foods since my op. By naughty I mean ice cream or potato bake that has full fat cheese in it. Has anyone else had an experience like this? I am stressed as I don't want to be one of those people who has the band and doesn't loose any weight.
  10. Thanks for all the replies. I feel a bit better about my band now. for a while I thought it had slipped but I don't think it has now as I have no pain and I am not vomiting.

    eating too much?

I am like that. Now I am on mushies I was told to eat only half a cup of food but after I have eaten that amount I still feel hungry. It was suggested that I eat 6 half cup meals a day but I struggle with that too. Sometimes I feel like I could just eat and eat (not that I do) I worry about that.

    Question

Hi Sassy I just wanted to say I know how you feel. My first 4 days were the worst when it came to having pain from air and not being able to burp. I tried walking etc but nothing really helped that much. I was told to have clear fluids for the first 24 hours but wasn't really into having anything other then Water or juice because I was worried about making it hurt more. I think the only thing that really helps is time and waiting for the swelling to go down. I hope your starting to feel a bit better now and that the air is passing a bit easier. If your Soup was a bit thick maybe blending it up or adding a bit more Fluid will help it to pass. All the best:smile:
  13. Hi Just a curiosity question. How can you tell if your band has slipped or not? I was just wondering.
  14. I live in Darwin, NT Australia. I was banded on October 31st.
  15. I was banded on October 31st, Halloween no less. My husband took me to hospital while my mum looked after our 7 month old son. I was hard going in as I had never been away from my son before. We arrived at the hospital at 7:30 am and went to admissions. After doing all the paper work they took me through to the day surgery unit to wait. I had a quick chat with the nurse who took my blood pressure and had a chat about the day with me. I waited for about an hour and they then took me through to the changing area. I put on one of their lovely back to front gowns and was in the process of putting on embolism stockings when they came through and said I was up in 15 min. I got to say a very quick goodbye to my hubby and then went through to the pre-surgery waiting area and had a bit of a lay down on the bed before being wheeled in to surgery. I also ran in to my friends mum and had a bit of a chat with her. Once in surgery they hooked me up to a drip and then sent me off to sleep with some gas. I woke up in recovery to the voice of a nurse who was 7 months pregnant. It was the same nurse who looked after me in recovery after having my son via c section. Turned out the day my son was born she went home and found out she was pregnant so she referred to me as her good luck charm as she had been trying to get pregnant for 3 years. I also remember her putting ice on my lips and mouth, it was so nice. I then went to the ward and was hooked up to this thing that pumped air around my legs to prevent blood clots. I slept heaps and later that night they helped me get up so I could go to the toilet. I then slept some more. That first 24 hours I sipped water and at lunch the next day i had a bit of broth, but wasn't really hungry. I had a self administering morphine pump but didn't need to use it. I had one lot of morphine at mid night they day of the surgery and then nothing else, I was a bit sore but not in any real pain. I had visitors that day and saw my son and slept heaps. I was supposed to stay 2 nights but at 8 am on the second night I was watching a film with my hubby who was laying in bed while I sat in a chair. I walked to the nurses station and told them I wanted to go home to my family. They rang my doctor who said ok so home I went a little over 24 hours after the surgery and needed no pain meds. The first 5 to 7 days are the worst I think but with every day it gets easier. 3 days after surgery I was bathing and feeding my son. 10 post op and I am walking 3 km with no pain. I would do it all again in a heart beat.
