  1. I am curious about the stomach fat also, although mine has gone down a lot it still seems larger than it should be. Possibly crunches? Any suggestions???
  2. Someone somewhere probably does..... seems we already have too many choices, ya know? lol Oh well.... in another month or so perhaps I will be able to buy size 10.... Not complaining, cause these 12's are quite different from those huge things I used to wear!:blushing:
  3. So sorry to hear about your set-back, but you will be back in the game soon.... You have done an amazing job so far and there is no reason to think you won't continue to do so. I got on the scale this morning, and was down another lb..... YEAH! 41 total now! Still not sure what my goal is, but I do know I'm not there yet. My size 12 pants are big, but not big enough to go down another size. Unfortunately for me my bra size hasn't changed a bit, but I know surgery that can fix that problem! teehee
  4. I haven't posted in quite awhile..... same as I've been reading, got busy.. excuses, excuses, etc. At any rate, I have lost 40 lbs. - surgery date was 11/11/08 and feel great. As others, my weight loss has nearly come to a halt, but I am so happy with what I have accomplished. I have 7cc in my 10cc band and definitely have restriction. I have to be very careful what I eat and how I eat it. Still love my band! Keep up the good work, all!
  5. I'm with you delivered... not sure I could do that, but I guess in a desperate situation I could make it happen. I am a nurse and have had to give myself allergy shots in the past (in my stomach) and those just went into the fat and that was so hard to actually put that tiny needle in myself. The remote sounds quite interesting - is that something that will work with our current bands/ports? How does that work? I am curious, as I sure dread fill/unfill time because of the needle!
  6. WOW! You are doing an awesome job! Keep up the good work!!
  7. Congrats, BJ!!! That is truly a wonderful feeling - the next one will be when they are too big for you, and from my experience, that is coming..... I LOVE MY BAND!! Can't wait to be able to buy 10's. Guess that's my next goal.
  8. lol... take the loss however it comes! I had a hysterectomy, so have nothing to compare this to, but enjoy the weight loss!
  9. I haven't figured out how to convince my head that I don't want those things that I KNOW will cause me problems.. has anyone gotten there yet? My brain tells me I want it and I give in and wow..... get stuck, slime, pb, the whole nine yards and then at the same time have all those feelings ya'll are talking about... At least it helps to know others are going through the same things.
  10. I would definitely call the Dr and let him know what is going on, and until you can do that I would try only liquids in small amounts to see if that will stay down. It sounds like he was a bit aggressive if that was your first fill. I have 3cc in my 10cc band and have had 3 fills (banded 11/11) and in the mornings I am quite tight. Good luck!
  11. I had my third fill 3cc in 10cc band on Wednesday and WOW...... finally restriction. Have lost 32 lbs and was banded 11/11/08 and finally having to re-learn how and what to eat. Sure is challenging! Others have really commented this past week about my body changes and I LOVE IT!
  12. I just got my second fill - 2cc total in 10cc band and already feel restriction. Not able to eat much at all before getting full, but love these ideas. Was banded 11/11/08 and have lost a total of 26 lbs. Love my band! Thanks for all the information!

My best friend died last night.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this trying time. It is amazing how those dogs become like one of our family members! Last year just before Christmas, my Yorkie was killed by stray dogs, then at the end of February my mother passed away and in April our Labrador disappeared! So.... let me assure you that with many prayers and lots of time that it does get easier to deal with losses like these. I just got a little boy Yorkie a few weeks ago, and WOW!!!! What a joy and handful he is. Take time and cry all you want/need.... and as I said, I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. God has a wonderful way of helping us through trying times..... keep the faith!
  14. I had surgery 11/11 and have not had a fill yet, no restriction to my band and am down 22 lbs. today! YEAH! I am so happy about my weight loss and am planning to have a fill just after Christmas - don't want to risk being on liquids for Christmas (dealt with mushies for Thanksgiving). Good luck to all.... we are doing great!

    early persistent plateau

I was banded 11/11 and lost 9lbs during my two weeks pre-op (liquid diet) and then dropped 7 more and stayed there for two weeks after my surgery. Last week I decided to try boosting my protein intake and guess what...... I am down a total of 21 lbs now. It sure worked for me! Good luck and hang in there.... it will come off, just gotta be patient sometimes. Oh yea, I have nothing in my band yet. Told my Dr. today that I don't think I need a fill yet. Hmmmmmmmmmm, silly I guess?
  16. Wow! What an inspiration you are!! I was banded 11/11 and have lost 17 lbs to date (been holding here for a week), and that includes the loss from pre-op diet. I too am 52 years old, so I have that slower metabolism happening. Oh well, not a problem cause I LOVE MY BAND and would do it over again in a second! I go back to my surgeon in two more weeks and doubt I will get a fill if I am still losing on my own. You can send me a private message and I will give you my e-mail address. I would love to stay in contact with you.... we can help each other stay focused!

    ~november bandsters~

Hi all! I was banded 11/11 and doing great! No pain from surgery whatsoever and down 16 lbs from pre-op diet till now.... LOVE IT! Hope everyone else is doing as well!
  18. Can't be of much help to you, as it seems that each Dr. has a different requirement pre-op. My doctor's office gave me a copy of a diet to follow and my particular diet includes no fruit, but any fruit juice! Call your surgeon to get more definite information, cause they should have something they can give you. Good luck!!
  19. Just found this message from you.. lol..... still trying to figure out this site. Yes, my surgery date is 11/11 and I will be sure to send you a message and let you know how it went. Can't wait!!!!!!

    Introduction

I have my surgery scheduled with Dr. John Issis at Medical West Hospital in Bessemer. He is an excellent surgeon, has a great personality and makes each of his patients feel quite special. (I get his patients ready for surgery daily, so I see both sides of him). Considering that we are having surgery a day apart, we will be able to help each other with questions, problems, etc. Let's try to stay in touch! Good luck with your surgery also........ are you having to do this liquid diet also?

    help!

I called my insurance company (BCBSAL) last year when I started researching lap-band to find out if it covered the surgery and was given helpful information regarding the entire procedure. They informed me of all the requirements I would have to fulfil before being approved. Have you considered calling them yourself? I completed 6 mths of diet (Dr. supervised), had my dietary consult and psych consult was on Friday. I went in today for my final weigh-in and was approved in a short time for my surgery 11/11. I would sure give it a try! Good luck!!!

Way to go! I too am from Alabama (Tuscaloosa County) and just got my insurance approval today for surgery 11/11! I know what you mean about the mix of emotions; I feel the same way, but in my heart I know this is the right thing to do. Good luck and hang in there... we'll be so much better next year in both the way we look and the way we feel!
  24. I started my 2 week pre-op full liquid diet this morning, and bought Adkins drinks - these come in a 4pk (Wal-Mart) and have a variety of flavors. Protein is 15g, sugar only 1 and very little carbs (the one I had for breakfast) and not bad at all. I figure if I can have 4 of these a day I will at least get the protein I need and will be doing a good job of keeping carbs and sugars low. Not sure if you've tried these or even heard of them, but they were also affordable. Just a suggestion! :-)

    hey from Alabama

Hello and Welcome! I too live in Alabama (Tuscaloosa County), and have not been banded yet, but am scheduled for 11/11 at Med West with Dr. John Issis. Not to sound dumb, but what is PCOS? I would be happy to talk with you - send me a private message if you want.
