  1. So sorry to hear about your set-back, but you will be back in the game soon.... You have done an amazing job so far and there is no reason to think you won't continue to do so. I got on the scale this morning, and was down another lb..... YEAH! 41 total now! Still not sure what my goal is, but I do know I'm not there yet. My size 12 pants are big, but not big enough to go down another size. Unfortunately for me my bra size hasn't changed a bit, but I know surgery that can fix that problem! teehee

  2. I haven't posted in quite awhile..... same as I've been reading, got busy.. excuses, excuses, etc. At any rate, I have lost 40 lbs. - surgery date was 11/11/08 and feel great. As others, my weight loss has nearly come to a halt, but I am so happy with what I have accomplished. I have 7cc in my 10cc band and definitely have restriction. I have to be very careful what I eat and how I eat it. Still love my band! Keep up the good work, all!

  3. I'm with you delivered... not sure I could do that, but I guess in a desperate situation I could make it happen. I am a nurse and have had to give myself allergy shots in the past (in my stomach) and those just went into the fat and that was so hard to actually put that tiny needle in myself. The remote sounds quite interesting - is that something that will work with our current bands/ports? How does that work? I am curious, as I sure dread fill/unfill time because of the needle!

  4. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this trying time. It is amazing how those dogs become like one of our family members! Last year just before Christmas, my Yorkie was killed by stray dogs, then at the end of February my mother passed away and in April our Labrador disappeared! So.... let me assure you that with many prayers and lots of time that it does get easier to deal with losses like these. I just got a little boy Yorkie a few weeks ago, and WOW!!!! What a joy and handful he is. Take time and cry all you want/need.... and as I said, I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. God has a wonderful way of helping us through trying times..... keep the faith!

  5. I was banded 11/11 and lost 9lbs during my two weeks pre-op (liquid diet) and then dropped 7 more and stayed there for two weeks after my surgery. Last week I decided to try boosting my Protein intake and guess what...... I am down a total of 21 lbs now. It sure worked for me! Good luck and hang in there.... it will come off, just gotta be patient sometimes. Oh yea, I have nothing in my band yet. Told my Dr. today that I don't think I need a fill yet. Hmmmmmmmmmm, silly I guess?

  6. Wow! What an inspiration you are!! I was banded 11/11 and have lost 17 lbs to date (been holding here for a week), and that includes the loss from pre-op diet. I too am 52 years old, so I have that slower metabolism happening. Oh well, not a problem cause I LOVE MY BAND and would do it over again in a second! I go back to my surgeon in two more weeks and doubt I will get a fill if I am still losing on my own. You can send me a private message and I will give you my e-mail address. I would love to stay in contact with you.... we can help each other stay focused!

  7. I have my surgery scheduled with Dr. John Issis at Medical West Hospital in Bessemer. He is an excellent surgeon, has a great personality and makes each of his patients feel quite special. (I get his patients ready for surgery daily, so I see both sides of him). Considering that we are having surgery a day apart, we will be able to help each other with questions, problems, etc. Let's try to stay in touch! Good luck with your surgery also........ are you having to do this liquid diet also?

  8. I called my insurance company (BCBSAL) last year when I started researching lap-band to find out if it covered the surgery and was given helpful information regarding the entire procedure. They informed me of all the requirements I would have to fulfil before being approved. Have you considered calling them yourself? I completed 6 mths of diet (Dr. supervised), had my dietary consult and psych consult was on Friday. I went in today for my final weigh-in and was approved in a short time for my surgery 11/11. I would sure give it a try! Good luck!!!

  9. I am actually using Dr. John Issis in Bessemer. He is an excellent surgeon (I work with him every day) and I am SOOOO excited! This is my birthday present to myself (Birthday 11/18), so just getting it a bit early! teehee I am on week two of my full liquid diet and have already lost 9 lbs.... lovin the weight loss but can do without the liquids!

  10. Way to go! I too am from Alabama (Tuscaloosa County) and just got my insurance approval today for surgery 11/11! I know what you mean about the mix of emotions; I feel the same way, but in my heart I know this is the right thing to do. Good luck and hang in there... we'll be so much better next year in both the way we look and the way we feel!

  11. I started my 2 week pre-op full liquid diet this morning, and bought Adkins drinks - these come in a 4pk (Wal-Mart) and have a variety of flavors. Protein is 15g, sugar only 1 and very little carbs (the one I had for breakfast) and not bad at all. I figure if I can have 4 of these a day I will at least get the protein I need and will be doing a good job of keeping carbs and sugars low. Not sure if you've tried these or even heard of them, but they were also affordable. Just a suggestion! :-)

  12. I certainly understand that.... here we all are right at the beginning of the holiday season trying to be good and what?? Yes, someone brought YET ANOTHER huge bag of candy! And no, it couldn't be the yucky stuff..... gotta be the best! I do know what you mean about it being rough, but we can do it because we will benefit in the end. Let everyone else eat that candy and gain that weight! WE WILL BE STRONG!!! Hang in there!
