  1. any of you guys using a NO supplement? I started using N.O. Shotgun mixed with whey before my workouts and have seen significant weight increases over the past month or so.

    Hey B-man,

I assume your referring to Nitric Oxide? Some people say it's hype and others swear by it so I'm not sure, having never tried it myself. Your saying your able to lift more not your body weight? Dumb question I know, just wanted to make sure:smile:

  2. Hello All- I live in Los Angeles but about to move back to Salt Lake City. Anyone know if they do banding at University of Utah Med Center? Also anyone have experience with having rheumatoid arthritis with lots of meds and how that affects getting banded? And finally, can anyone recommend a free seminar on banding for me to attend to start my journey? Thanks in advance!

    Hello CherieLynne,

My mom has been to a couple free seminars, she also has RA and is on alot of meds. She hasn't been banded yot due to some other health issues. I can find out more about the seminars and let you know, better yet, I'll try to get her on the forum so she can share her own experiences.

  3. Wow Scarecrow,

That's awesome info. You guys ROCK! I can't believe you guys went from fat to BUFF in a year! I can't wait to be there with you! Mike, your right, that's where I fall a little short (literally!) I'm only 6' with a BMI of 46. So I guess we're not twins . But I still want your results!

  4. Mike,

We might be twins! I'm 41 starting weight was 335 and there was something else I read that was identical to my situation.....can't remember what it was tho?? Other than you have the results I'd like to see myself achieve! I started working out, not lifting yet but doing aerobics for 30 minutes a day. :)

  5. I posted this in "Introductions" but I want to hang out with the men if that's ok

    Hi Friends!

My name is dave, I was banded last Saturday, 11/8, in Mexicali by Dr. Aceves. Everything went fine I guess. I'm still on liquids and have lost 10 lbs. I'm very excited about this opportunity to change my life. I'm 41 years old with 3 kids and a wonderful wife. I've been a chef for 25 years so I think the hardest part of this will be staying away from bad (GOOD!) food. I think this is a wonderful forum and I'm very grateful to have found it and all the support and encouragement that is found within it's pages.

    Thank-you,

    dave

  6. Hi Kimmy,

I'm from Utah. I'm the 5th one in my family to have the band. It depends on whether or not your insurance will cover it, then they dictate where you have it done, with some exceptions. All of us had ours done in Mexico except for my mom, Medicaid covered hers.

  7. I like that, very cool. Nothing, in my opinion, is better than being a great dad! So now I have a question for you. You are at that stage, no doubt, where working out is as addicting as the food once was. I know because I've been there. My question is how long did it take you to get there, to the point where you genuinely looked forward to your workouts and missing one was not an option? I have tried to pick up the weights many times over the years. I have a basement full of weights and exercise equipment but I never last more than a month. I always said when my son turned 12 I would workout with him.(It's a very bonding experience in my opinion) He's almost 13:frown:. Maybe the band will give me the motivation I need.

    dave

  8. Hey Ceradad, (what does that mean?)

I'm glad I found your post. I am recently banded and pray I have the courage to make the most out of this opportunity as you have done. I was a serious body builder for 10 yrs. before injuring my back and getting fat and lazy. A couple of things in your post stand out. 1st, Mike's advice is sound, you are telling your body to build muscle but not giving it all the building supplies. 2nd, you to are right. You have set a very rigorous pace for yourself, with the lack of proper fuel your body was most likely just asking for a break. That said, it is very common to have a routine fail, hit slumps where you see no muscle gain, and lose strength. It will come back, and no your not over doing it, your body can handle that and more with the proper rest, fuel and nutrition. One thing I would suggest is mixing up your routine. I don't know if your looking to get HUGE or just want to be in great shape, but if size is what matters to you now you need to hit the internet and learn all you can. Good Luck!
