  1. I've just had my physical with my new Tricare Prime pcp and now I'm super ready to get approval for a band. My second appointment is comming up and I'm not really sure on how to approach the question with my doctor, especially not really knowing her yet. I mean, is it up to her to decide weather or not to submit a request for approval? What if she just says get on a diet (which I've tried and failed at numerous times)..Is her word final? I know I fit the guidlines that Tricare has layed out. I'm a hundered+ lbs over my ideal weight, and have to take medication for high blood preassure. Am I just worrying too much? I wouldn't be surprised if I was:P
  2. That is good to know, I haven't been able to find a physchologist either, but hopefully can use the one at Carswell. Congratulations:thumbup: on the surgery date!!
  3. Nowhere yet, we're in the DFW area. My husband just got accepted into the nupoc program. He is active, but his orders right now are to finish his degree. It's a sweet deal really. I'm not looking forward to the time apart later, he'll be on a submarine for months at a time. But other wives have endured it and I'm sure I'll be able to as well. We'll be in Charleston when he graduates though. It looks like your due to get your surgery soon, Congrats!! I hope my submission and approval goes as quick as yours, I don't mind waiting, but who wants to??!
  4. Wow, this thread is great. I've learned more with reading it for 20 minutes than I've gathered for the last month elsewhere:) I do have a couple of concerns. I just registered with Tri-care and picked my doctors this week. I have not had health insurance since I was pregnant 2 years ago. Does anyone know if there will be any kind of a waiting period? Kinda feels wrong to sign up for the insurance one week and request a 15000 dollar operation the next week..But don't get me wrong, I'll do it! I don't think I'll have a problem getting approved. I'm 5'5 and 260 lbs and have high blood pressure and cholesterol and I think sleep apnea. So I guess my first step is to get some meds!
  5. I have looked into LBS and if my insurance will let me choose them, I might. I've heard great things about Dr. John Marsden though and his hospital in Ft. Worth is fairly close to me. I've read all kinds of 'reviews' on the hospital and the Doc and no one has any complaints! Anyone here used him? Well, first I have to pick a PCP and get meds for my blood preasure and such, then I think I have to get him to refer me?? I've been so busy trying to set up my insuarance, I don't quite know what order I have to go in:) Hopefully I'll find someone with Tricare that has done this recently! I'm so ready to get this ball rolling!!:cool2:
  6. Thank you for your welcome! I live in the DFW area and have not chosen a doctor yet. Today is the first day I have insurance so I still have to choose my new PCP and then I can start the process! I'm hoping there is not a certain amount of time that I have to have to have this insurance before they will consider me...I'm at 255 and still gaining:embaressed_smile:. I'm so excited for you Austex!! Hopefully this week will fly by for you! And maybe I'll be in your shoes in the next couple of months!
  7. I've looked around a few forums for weight loss surgery and found this one to be the most informative and to have the nicest people!! My husband just joined the NUPOC program in the navy and it seems as if the insurance Tricare will pay for the procedure for me. It's something I've been wanting to do for a few years now and it looks like I'm going to get my wish! I'm looking foward to 'meeting' everyone here! I've uploaded a photo album and info, so feel free to stop by and say hi!
