  1. Hi ZiggyLove: I was banded on December 11th,2008 and I had one day of the sliming. Thank God. My doctor's nurse told me not everyone goes through it and the length of time varies. It is normal in the healing process of the stomach after surgery. It's a constant build up of saliva causing frequent spitting or regurgitation/dry heaves. I took phenegran to keep me from throwing up to avoid slippage or erosion. I think "pbing" is the same as vomiting. I hope this helps. Good luck on your surgery.
  2. Congrats on your weight loss Emmsie!!!! I had my surgery on 12/11 and have lost 12 lbs. thus far. I will get my first fill on 1/22. May you have continued success on your weight loss journey.
  3. Congrats on your weight loss so far!!! I had my procedure 12/11/08. I go for my first fill on 1/22. I can't wait. I don't feel any restriction and I too am trying to watch what I eat. I have done really well. I've got to get more focused on my walking. I have lost 12 lbs so far. I was hoping for more before my first feel. I was 210 going into surgery. Now I'm 198. I'm also 57 years old and this site has been very helpful and the resources are great.
  4. I was also banded December 11th. I went for my post op check 12/18/08. Found out I had a hernia which he repaired when he put the band on. I've done really well. I had lost 12 pounds. I'm on creamed soups, yogurt, and protein shakes. I go for my first fill on January 22nd. Continued success for everyone.
  5. Congrats to all of the Bagnato Bandits!!!!!!!!!!!! I was banded December 11t and 1 day out from surgery. So far I've not had any nausea but have found it hard to burp and have some uncomfortableness this morning. I guess this is gas building up. I'm not sure. I'm on clear liquids for 5 days. I go for my post op December 18th with Dr. Bagnato. He and is staff are great. I also was a self pay and the sugar Busters was not as bad as I thought it would be. Did any of you have to swallow that dreaded chalk stuff to see if everything was okay before you left the hospital or will that occur during my post of visit? Much continued success for eveyone.LOL
  6. Congrats!!!! Mike. I had my surgery December 11th. I was suppose to go it at 7:00 am and I didn't go back for surgery until 9:30. I was in recovery for about an hour. My doc did not require I swallow the chalk before I left. Maybe he is going to do that we I go back for my check up on December 18th. I slept most of the way home (2 hour ride). My throat was really dry. It's a little better today. I've been up since 6:00 am. I've had trouble burping too that I never had in the past. I'm have some pain this morning. I guess this is the gas. I haven't had any nausea yet, but I tood a 40mg amend for nausea before surgery, plus a patch behind my ear and a nausea wrist watch that will last me for 3 days. I'm on clear liquids for the next five then on to full liquids. LOL
  7. Hi December 08 Bandsters: I was banded 12/11/08 and doing great. I was surprised I was able to sleep in my bed. I plan to walk today. I'm sure how gas pains feel. I have some tightness in my port and chest area. I've been up since 6:00 this morning. This is very unusual for me. I'm on Clear liquids for 5 days and then on to full liquids. Can we sip slowly through a straw? I hope I can get the 60 oz of Water down today? How long does it take you to drink 64 oz. of water and your Protein requirement in a day? I teach school so I'm a little worried how I'm going to manage? any suggestions.
  8. I'm also going to be banded on December 11th. My doctor told me to try different ones. The EAS muscle protein drinks in chocolate are pretty good. They taste similar to Slim Fast. The glucerna drinks in chocolate are also good. Good luck on your surgery... stay in touch...let me know how your doing?
  9. Congrats!!!!! You look great! I'm 7 days from my surgery. I'm starting at the same weight as you with many of the same medical problems. I hope I look that great in 6 months.:cursing: Your video was just what I needed to lower my anxieties.
  10. hello to all December Bandsters. I go for my pre-op December 2nd. My surgery is December 11th. I'm self pay and I'm scared I won't be successful or have to have the band removed. My husband's insurance pays for the surgery, but I didn't meet the BMI of 40. Mine was 38. They would consider a lower BMI with co-morbid health problems. I'm Diabetic, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, RA, and hypothyrodism. I hope all of you are successful. Best of luck!!!
  11. Hey Pete and other December '08 bandsters, My surgery has been scheduled for December 11th. I begin my pre-op diet Dec.2nd. I'm ready to begin a new and healthier life. I'm a little bit anxious about the surgery, but excited too. I hope I do well. With my other health problems, the risk of complications scare me. Good Luck on yours and stay in touch.
  12. Hi Julie: I'm new also. My surgery is scheduled for December 11th. My pre-op is December 2nd. I'm excited and nervous as I get closer to my date. I have found this to be a great group of supportive folks and visit regularly to find out answers to questions I have had. Maybe we can stay in touch and support each other. Lojo:biggrin:
  13. I got my date..I'll be banded December 11th at 6:30 am. Dr. V.John Bagnato from Albany, Georgia will be doing my surgery. I can't wait. I'm so excited.
  14. Wanted to let yall know my surgery has been scheduled for December 11th, 2008. I 'm so excited. I can't wait. I decided not to do the appeal and will be paying for him myself. Keep me on your prayer list.
  15. My secondary insurance (arkansas bcbs) denied request for lapband surgery because I didn't have a BMI of 40 or more, even with my co-morbidities(diabetes-typeII;high chlorestorol;high bp;rheumatoid arthritis;hypothyroidism). will I have to self-pay or can Dr. Bagnato do a second consultation for any changes? I'm angry, disappointed, need this surgery. My husband said it sounds like an omen that I shouldn't have the surgery. I don't feel an appeal will make any changes in their decision unless I gain weight to have the surgery to loose weight. Isn't that ridiculous?:w00t::eek::thumbup::eek:
  16. I have the same scenario. My paperwork was sent to my insurance company on 10/14/08 and I'm still waiting. My surgery has not been scheduled yet. I hope it will be soon.
  17. I haven't been banded yet, but hair loss is not something I'm looking forward to since I already have thin hair. I've been jotting down the recommendations made to minimize the hair loss. I'm also taking a food supplement for fine fragile thinning hair called VitaTress recommended by my beautician. It contain 300mg Bioxin.LOL
  18. What is Sugar Buster's diet? What do you eat? Never heard of this one!! I must be behind times? Is it hard to follow? I'm not real good at sticking to diets. I've been on yo-yo diets most of my life. I have Type II diabetes,RA,Hypertension, and high cholesterol. I've had GERD in years past. I don't take meds. I have occasional heartburn, but recently I've had lots of bloating, belching, and gas. How do you take medications after lap band surgery? I currently take 18 pills a day. Yuk!! I hope with the surgery I can come off some of them.
  19. Thanks for the warm welcome and advice. I hope it won't take my insurance companies to respond to Dr. Bagnato. Does Dr. Bagnato require a pre-op diet and how long? Did you have any complications? What is the average length of recuperation?
  20. Hi everyone! I just had my consultation with Dr. Bagnato on 9-30-08. Waiting on insurance approval. My husband's BCBS will pay for the surgery, but have to have a denial letter from my insurance (United Healthcare). I hope it doesn't take to long. I've been visiting the Lapbandtalk website for a couple of months. Now that I'm on the road to a new me, I get a little anxious and nervous. I'm 57 years old and need the surgery due to multiple health problems. I live in Dublin. I am so thankful I found this support group. Anything you can share about pre-op, the surgery,.... would be helpful. LOL Lojo:smile:
  21. Terri, Thanks for the words of encouragement!! I can't wait to check out your jewelry store on line! I am a jewelry nut. Is the LapBand removed once you reach your goal weight or is it left in forever? Lojo, Dublin,Ga.
  22. Hi Janet, Good luck on your surgery!!! I just had my consult 9/30/08.I'm waiting to be scheduled. My secondary insurance will pay for the surgery, but they have to have a denial letter from my insurance before they will pick up the cost. My surgery can't be scheduled until then. LBT is a great site and all of the threads have been very supportive and helpful. How long do you have to be on the Optifast before the surgery-- one or two weeks? Do all drs require this before the surgery? Lojo Dublin,GA:smile:
  23. Hi, I'm Lojo from Dublin, Ga. I am 57 years old and a proud grandmother of six children (3 boys and 3 girls). I'm ready to start my life as a healthier, thinner mother and grandmother. He said once approved the surgery could be scheduled within two weeks. My obesity is co-morbid with multiple health problems (diabetes Type II;RA;hypertension;depression, GERD,sleep apnea, high cholesterol, underactive thyroid). I hope to be a November Bandster.
