I don't know... I'm just "here." Surviving. I miss kiddo, still mad about the trip, still uncertain about the situation with hubby, just peeved at him in general (sore as well that he didn't do a damn thing for me for my birthday, and that's becoming a norm too...). Sorry, I'm a metric nitwit, so I had to look up all the conversions. So 85 kg equals 187.2 pounds, and apparently 153 cm is between 5'0" and 5'1", while 158 cm is between 5'2" and 5'3". I don't care how you work that, THAT'S FAT! Now granted, starting at 120 kg 264.5 pounds, but still... being that short and 187 pounds is fat. Maybe a mini-goal, but a GOAL? And at that weight, there is NO way she would be wearing an American size 10. No way. Without looking forever, I found a blog that has her before and after pics. She really looks good, and I'm adding this disclaimer after what I wrote above to say she does not look like she's 187 pounds... Fat Lot of Good

EXACTLY! What's the rush? Especially, what is the rush when it's a document that the people who want to sign it probably haven't even read! Better yet, make it public. Let US read it. Wasn't that what Obama promised? PUtting things out there in the open? Transparent government? Where IS that? The things that I've read that are supposedly in this thing are downright damn scary.

KartMan, I don't mean this to sound as snarky as I know it'll come across on print, but being from California and seeing what a total clusterf*ck that state has become, how can you not be more hardline about this stuff? I have to say I really don't get it when yoru state is beyond broke and it's still okay for your taxes to pay for crap that is totally broken. I really REALLY don't get the mentality.

Oh, I KNOW Conservatives waste. That's why I don't consider them my party any longer. To me, they're simply democrats, and democrats are now socialists. There IS no conservative party, unless the Libertarians are the new conservatives. I have no idea. This is not a left-right thing for me. They are ALL effed in the head, and ALL of them waste my money. Right now we're just talking about the welfare side of it because of the topic here. Trust me, I've got plenty to say about many other wastes and issues. As for fixing the programs, have you met our government?? They couldn't grab their collective asses with both hands, much less fix programs that they screwed up in the first place. So in my opinion, the only thing I can imagine doing is scrapping the programs. It's time for family and churches to take care of theirs lilke it used to be and get off the taxpayers' backs.

EXACTLY!! Though this is a bit off topic, I was listening to the radio today, and the talk-show host said something I've been saying all along: Those who suffered Katrina who sat there and did nothing were waiting for the government to do something for them because that was the type of most of the people who died or were caught in Katrina -- those who don't do for themselves and always wait for somebody else to do for them. I'm not dissing those who died or lost what meager belongings they had. I'm simply focusing on the fact that, rather than help themselves, they sat around waiting for Uncle Sam, and then blamed the PRESIDENT because he didn't, what? Save them?? I KNOW there are those who truly need. But I don't feel sorry for those who have been on welfare for generations or all their lives, making things worse by having more babies to suck off the welfare teat or just sitting around watching Jerry Springer and doing absolutely NOTHING to better themselves. People like that are not sick, they're LAZY. NO sympathy here.

Helping others should be a SMALL purpose of tax dollars. Otherwise it is simply redistribution of wealth. I'm sorry, but to me, drug abuse and addiction is a choice. It might not be once one is addicted, but it sure was when they started using. Why should I as a taxpayer be forced to 1) subsidize their addiction, 2) subsidize their living arrangements when they may be there due to their choices, and 3) pay yet again to get them off drugs? I agree some are on the dole out of sincere necessity. However, waaaay too many are not. They CAN work but get more perks if they don't, or they choose to have welfare babies to get more money, or they are simply losers. Welfare was meant to be a help up, not a handout. However, I see welfare and other social services as WAY overused and overabused, beyond being measures by which the government can control more and more people AND ensure themselves another vote at election time. I mean, when leeches know that their bread is gonna be buttered by Mr. Politician (usually libreral ones), you betcha they're not gonna vote out the gravy train. :juggle: I am so dangblasted pissed off and fed up with scumbags being given MY money because they won't work that I just can't stand it. I am only ready to scrap the whole damn thing because of all the abuses I see with it. If you are fine with your tax dollars being misused and abused, please PLEASE sign your paycheck over to them and leave me mine. Because otherwise your decision affects MINE, and I'm not okay with that.

My idea is to get them the EFF off my dime! I don't care if it soulds harsh or not. There are TOO MANY people being given MY hard-earned money who don't deserve it and, frankly, don't need it if they would get off their effin' asses and get a job. :juggle: My frustration is not necessarily at you, btw, unless you really support using my tax dollars to pay for this bullshit.

But who would pay for rehab, the taxpayers... again? Sorry, but if they can find the money to pay for their drugs, then they don't need assistance. Cut 'em loose.

I feel for you. Though I haven't had three interviews anywhere, I DID have an interview on 7/6 (they even accommodated me since I went away just before the 4th) on the day I got back from being out of town. They were going to make a decision by the end of that week. That line has been stretched to a decision at the beginning of the following week... then a decision by the end of that week... then a decision by the end of the FOLLOWING week, and lastly a decision by last Friday. Here it is going into this Thursday and I called today and the agency contact doesn't know anything. There was even a comment I THINK I heard where she's trying to find out from them if they are still going to fill the position at all. I'm trying to make a decision to hold out OR start full classes at the end of August. I've already signed up, gotten my books, and done everything I need to be ready other than paying for the classes and parking permits. I love how they bring you in then waffle on whether they're even going to fill the position. All I want to know at this point is whether I'm even in the running. I can't even find THAT out. :biggrin:

Ebony, CONGRATS AGAIN!! I hope SOMEthing comes through for you. The "prior boss" you referred to whom you would be bumping into if you got this job, is this the boss you have now? I called the agency... again... only to be told they still don't know anything. I asked if there was a way to find out if I was even in the running. The girl said she has had a call and an e-mail in to them and no reply. I told her this was getting aggravating, that in the very near future I would simply be yanking my name from the pool if I don't hear anything since I have signed on for a full load of classes. She said she understood. Anyway, went and saw The Ugly Truth. It was... okay. However, it was like listening to two hours' worth of PknPottymouth. A bit risque and vulgar, even for me who is in no way a prude. I think I chuckled once. I'd say a C- to D+. Good thing I had a free ticket to see it cuz I'd be one ticked off somethin' if I had to pay full price.

What a stupid, stupid cow. Frankly I'm sick and tired of all OUR freeloaders as well. No doubt we have our own stories like this here in our country too.

Problem is, I would think (like in many places I've been) the hostilities that are fed and flamed in a place like that would spill over into the tamer boards. Not always, but if it did, it causes a lot of grief for the mods. However, I was shocked at the OH forums where their rants-and-raves style board is just that -- absolutely NO holds barred. I can give cussing a good run, but I was hearing words that even I had never heard before! :biggrin: I didn't stick around, though, so whether it spills out of that forum is not known to me.
