And I understand that. However, marriage is not a Constitutional right. Therefore, the people must speak. And like it or not, the people spoke.

People have a right to believe as they wish and vote based on those beliefs. Isn't that what America is all about?

Gadgetlady, The Watcher, and all in between...
LOL! Yeah, I read that fizzies (soda/beer) will probably have to go. Bummer, since I like my Crown in Diet 7-Up... I don't HAVE to have coffee. I like it, but I don't go through withdrawals or mood issues if I don't have it like hubby does. Guess I'll find out on Thursday what I can do when I go in for my pre-op visit with the nurse.

Oooh, sounds good. But I thought caffeine was a semi no-no. Or does that depend on your doctor?

Emotions...
I have consistently been of the belief that some form of counseling should be considered by all of us while losing the weight, either to figure out what triggered teh weight gain to begin with, or to help us deal with the weight loss and "new us" as it happens. There WILL be emotions revolving around this, whether hormonal or not. Some of us have never been thin. Others haven't been thin in a long time. Still others will be dealing with attention we never had before or haven't had in a long time. And others may start getting attention from the opposite sex while our spouses act like we're a bump on a log. There are a lot of things that will stir around massive weight loss, and I personally feel it is imperative that some form of therapy be involved. I think a lot of people go into this thinking that our problems will all go away as the pounds melt off. As some here have already mentioned, the weight gains we had were indicative of a much deeper issue. Those issues are still there for many of us, simply covered up by a lot of eating and fat. It's like burying a body... it may be out of sight for a time, but once dug up, the "evidence" is still there. I recommend a good self-help book if you can't afford a therapist; or check your church, if you are a member, to see if they offer something. You might even find a therapy organization that has a sliding scale, or Overeater's Anonymous which may be free (sorry, not sure). Anything that helps you uncover the root of your issues will do wonders -- it doesn't have to be a professional. Good luck, MrsFlipFlops. I feel where you're coming from, I really do.

I am just so... OMG...
I am about to ask her if she has absolutely no filter between that pea brain and big mouth of hers. She has also made comments about my new grandbaby that were just as stupid. After seeing her newborn-in-the-hospital picture, she asked me if she was bi-racial. When I said no, she asked if I was sure, because of the "big nose" and all. Then another day recently another coworker was saying how cute my granddaughter is (I have a succession of pictures over the last few months), and the boss said, "Yeah, she IS getting cute. Thank God, because in the beginning she wasn't so cute, ya know?" I don't know if she's just an idiot or what.

Things People Pass Off For Compliments and Things Skinny People Say That Piss You Off
Oh wow, that reminds me of another. Hubby was working in Kuwait back in 2003 for the whole year, and at the six-month mark we met up in Greece for a fantastic holiday. I had lost about 30 pounds (certainly not making me svelt by ANY means, but I felt good), was all tanned, and feeling good. We had just boarded a cruise ship for one leg of our vacation and the hostess who was showing us to our room said, "Are you one or two?" Well, thinking she meant hubby and I, I said, "Two." She then asked when I was due... I was embarassed and mortified. I too said, "No, it's all fat." I wanted to crawl into a hole.

I absolutely concur! My father has had them (he IS overweight) but my brother inherited the same thing (not overweight). I don't know if it's genetic, but in our case two family members have them, so...

Why don't y'all see?
I apologize, wrong word. She was suspended. And frankly, due to her board bullying and immature, personal quips, I can see why.

Things People Pass Off For Compliments and Things Skinny People Say That Piss You Off
I started a thread in late october saying how my boss has THREE times now made some sort of desparaging remark to me in regards to my weight. All of a sudden these comments have been coming out of her mouth. Twice she made reference to plastic surgery in the form of tummy tucks or breast lifts, and the third she actually asked me why I didn't get a "few staples" when I have my hiatal hernia fixed (which is all I'm telling coworkers I'm having done... she has no idea I'm having WLS). It doesn't exactly fit the "compliment" thing, but it's like WTF is with your mouth?? It's so inappropriate that I finally went over her head yesterday and it WILL be dealt with come next week.

I am just so... OMG...
ARRRRGGGGHHHHHH, I can't believe I have to resurrect this thread!! That boss I mentioned earlier? Well, I finally went over her head yesterday and went to her/our superviors and told them that she is continuing her whatever you want to call it against me. What I hadn't mentioned previously was about a week prior to her comment listed in the original thread, when I had all these doctor visits to get this procedure started (she just thinks hiatal hernia) and before she knew there would be a surgery, I told her I needed time off for an appointment, and she asked if I was dying. Obviously I said no, but I said I may need some surgery in the near future. At that time, she said, "For what, a tummy tuck and boob lift?" Okay, fast forward to a couple weeks ago when she made the staple comment. Now the other day she said something ELSE. Of course now SHE thinks SHE has a hiatal hernia too, and asked (again) how they will go about doing it. Because I'm not sure, I have to lie and use the info I know about the LB surgery and told her they would do it laproscopically and might be able to use some old scars from my gall bladder surgery. That started another conversation about my gall bladder, and I mentioned how great that doctor had been. He was SO nice and had SUCH a great bedside manner, I told her, "I asked him if he did anything else," (meaning was he also a primary care physician). She said, "You mean for plastic surgery?" WTF??? Okay, so enough is enough now. This is the third time in as many weeks that she has made some comment about my weight or plastic surgery/tucks/lifts. So last night I went to her bosses (also mine, just higher up) and said I'm a big girl and not a crybaby, but the fact is this is totally inapporpriate and uncalled for, and I'm getting sick of it. I don't want to tell her to "F off" in front of people, nor do I want to lower myself to her level. But I took it to them to see what they recommend. I was given four potential scenarios by the one boss. First, say nothing (which she knows is not an option for me by now). Second, I can say something to her, which will turn into a fight, and likely result in her pulling other people from the office into this and drilling them on whether they ever heard her say something. Third, I can put it in writing, which will also likely result in her involving other people. Fourth, The two bosses (with or without me there) can confront her, which will also likely result in her involving other people. I asked this boss if, were the improper boss to involve others, would it not cross ethical and likely legal lines because she probably couldn't discuss the issue without mentioning my surgery (big HIPPA no-no). Anyway, the second boss I brought into this had a better idea, one which I like very much. She said the two higher-up bosses (and me if I choose) would confront her, and the bosses would tell her, "This is inappropriate and illegal, and it is not open for debate or argument. We know you are doing this and we are telling you right now that if another word is said or even a whiff of this gets out to another co-worker, it will be grounds for dismissal, period." Mind you, she retires at the end of the year. The last thing she wants is to be fired. I like that one best. It puts the fear of God into her, makes her think about what she keeps saying, and has some teeth to it rather than the first round of suggestions which all would result in her bringing everybody else in the office into this mess (she can never be wrong or admit when she's wrong). She's out of the office until Wednesday, so the two bosses told me to think it over until then and tell them what I want to do. Part of me felt like a big baby, but it wasn't about that. I didn't come home and cry in my corn flakes... I know I'm fat. Not a shock. It's just so... why are some people so inappropriate??

Gadgetlady, The Watcher, and all in between...
I've heard that one recommended too. I haven't had the pre-op conversation with my nurse yet (that's scheduled for Thursday) to see how long after surgery I will be doing protein shakes too. If anything I would guess I would use them to help keep my protein numbers boosted, even after I start eating.

Gadgetlady, The Watcher, and all in between...
Thanks for the two cents. I actually spent hours on here a few nights ago trying to find out what people thought of different protein shakes. Lots of ideas, but I did order some sample packets of the Unjury ones. I'm supposed to start my liquid/protein diet this coming Friday. IF my freakin' insurance company will get off their asses and finally approve this thing... Should have happened 10-12 days ago and still waiting. They "lost" my paperwork. Nurse thinks she should get the okay Monday, but Tuesday are a lot of pre-op things that, if I don't have the okay yet, won't be covered.

risky......anyone ever have a threesome?
Some days it does better than others. I've had days when everything I tried to read or post simply timed out. It hasn't done that in a little while now, so I guess that's good.

Notice to all employees (post-election)
You make this sound simpler than it is. They come here and work lower wages because 1) they live multiple families to a home and pool the resources, and 2) they ship most of their money HOME (taking it out of our economy) because there a dollar is huge. Secondly, they don't "do the jobs Americans just won't do," they do jobs Americans can't afford to do at the deflated wages they will work them at. In case you haven't noticed, the illegals are starting to raise their voices and demand equal pay. So then, where is the benefit in having them? Then we have 30 million more people flooding our already overburdened economy demanding fair wages. If an employer is going to pay "fair wages," then they can pay Americans to do the job. Caring for the downtrodden is one thing. Taking the food from your child's mouth to give to somebody who has no business being here is downright foolish.
