  3. 3 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 3rd Anniversary feathermack!

  4. how do you get in your vitamins and fiber without adding so many CARBS???? My vitamins have 7 carbs alone (currently taking chewable multi and Omega 3), when I'm supposed to stay at 25 for the day. And I need lots more fiber in my diet but it all adds carbs, would love to hear any suggestions!
  5. thank you so much for all the great tips! It's nice to know when other people have gone through it or are going through the same struggles, it doesn't sound so impossible. I have another question, how do ya'll get in extra fiber without adding carbs??? I can tell I need more fiber because things just aren't moving the way I would like for them too but I'm already starting out my day with 7 carbs just from my multi vitamin and omega 3 (both chewables)! My doctor says to stay at 25 carbs but that's so hard to do and still get plenty of fiber. Also I've only found one pre-made protein drink that I like and it's chocolate, I would really like to find something I can use to make my own protein/smoothies so I won't be so bored because I'm about over the one drink and in order to do the few days of liquid, I am going to need some variety. What protein powders have you found that you really like?
  6. I was banded 11/08, lost 50 lbs during that first year and have basically just stopped ever since. Granted, weight loss took a backburner because I was feeling so much better than I had before surgery and I just got comfortable at my new weight even though I still have another 50 to go! I also met the love of my life during this time and we got married in October 2010. So a lot of other things were changing in my life and I was happy! but now the wedding, the honeymoon, the holidays are all over and I'm ready to get back into the groove because I now have about 60 lbs to go. But I feel like my body is over it if that makes sense and just doesn't want to lose anymore! I've continued to go to the dr's the past year getting fills and unfills, not sure I'm at my sweet spot but for a long time I've been too tight. Although in my head I didn't know it becuase I wasn't losing weight. I've had to learn that not losing weight doesn't always mean you're not tight enough but the opposite! so I had some taken out the week of Christmas and have been able to eat much better, but I'm afraid too much. Gaining 4 lbs! So I'm ready to get back, get motivated again, make the right choices, need to start excercising again and get focused. Just wondering if there have been successes out there where you quit losing but were able to start again and it worked! I never thought two years ago when I had the surgery that I would still have this far to go, time passes away so fast, I don't want to waste anymore.
  7. I recently received a cookbook with recipes geared towards people who have had weight loss surgery. A lot of the recipes call for unflavored or vanilla flavored protien powder. I have only been drinking one kind of protien drink that is premade because I know they are good and haven't ventured past that. But it's time for a change because they are becoming BORING and I'm in the process of getting motivated again and don't want to start out bored already. Would like some ideas of other ones that are also good that I could use in cooking or making my own smoothies so I have more variety than just chocolate! thanks!
  8. Just wondering how everyone out there manages to get their fiber without loading up on carbs? I have felt lately that things aren't moving the way I would like them to even though I have been ramping up my salad and veggie intake. This is just one area I'm focusing on, I've been banded for 2 years now, lost over 50 lbs the first year but have been the same for about the last year and wasn't focusing on the weight loss due to a lot of other changes going on in my life. But now things are "normal" and I'm ready to get things back on track and start losing again because I'm also starting to see the scales inch back up which scares me to death! but fiber has always been one of those things that I have struggled with since most fiber is full of carbs, any suggestions???
  9. I'm so glad to read these posts because I too had my first fill Wednesday (banded on Nov 20th) and can't tell a difference and I was concerned because he put 4 cc's, which sounded like a lot to me after I had read other people only getting 2 or even 1/2. I was wondering how many cc's does the band hold total and to all those successfull bandster's, what cc amount seemed to be your sweet spot? I know everyone is different but just curious to hear the ranges. thanks!
  10. I'm almost 2 weeks post op, banded on the 20th and last night, I allowed myself to get too hungry. By the time I sat down to eat dinner (at Logan's) I ate 2 rolls, a few chips, 3 fries and not quite half of a cheeseburger and I thought I was going to explode! Granted before being banded, that would have been an appetizer! but I'm guessing and looking for some validation, that because I ate too much for one, it irritated my diaphragm which in turn made the horrible sharp shoulder pain come back and two, i'm still feeling this slight "heaviness" in my chest and back (i'm guessing where the band is now) but I'm not sure what is causing this feeling because the food should be passed through my stomach by now. Does this sound normal to anyone and also, what kind of problems can be caused by overeating, as far as long term problems like slipping, etc??? I've learned my lesson for sure but just want to make sure nothing is wrong now. :cursing:
  11. It makes sense that this is coming from nerve pain, as far as nothing will help. My doctor's nurse said unfortunately time and the GasX, which I have been using the strips and usually only 1 at time, has anyone else found a better way or should I be taking more than 1 and should they be taken before I eat a meal or right after?
  12. I was banded last Thursday and everything has been tolerable except for this intense sharp pain on the top of my left shoulder and it gets worse after i've eaten. i've tried a heating pad and walking and walking and it keeps coming back and it seems worse every time, it's HORRIBLE and brings tears to my eyes. Does anyone have suggestions and could explain why gas is in my shoulder!?!?!?!??!?!?!:scared2::ohmy:
  13. I'm getting banded on the 20th by Dr. Morton. I haven't met him yet, I go on the 11th for my appt with him and I have read a few things about him on other sites, but just wondering if anyone here has any experience with him that they would like to share! Thanks!

    I want to cry!!

Oh gosh, you are NOT alone! My pre op diet doesn't start until the 6th, it's 2 slim fasts and a frozen meal for 2 weeks! So I thought I would start prepping myself last week and I was miserable! It's really starting to make me question myself if I'm going to be able to do this at all. I miss food already and I haven't even had to give it up yet! I just keep telling myself that it's all worth it. It's been so long since I was happy with my size and weight that it's hard to imagine being like that again so my goal is feeling unattainable or impossible. Which is making food that much harder to resist because of the emotional eating. This is not the easy way out as so many people want to claim. We have to keep telling ourselves we can do this, because it's truth! but I'm open to any suggestions
  15. Hey everyone, I'm getting banded on Nov 20th and it seems the questions just keep popping up! I was just on Amazon.com and found tons of books about weight loss with the Band, there were so many to choose from, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations??? Or is it better to keep reading this website, which has already been wonderful by the way, thanks to everyone for sharing your stories! I was also curious about the cookbooks, are they helpful at all or a waste of money? I'm concerned about finding protein shakes that I can live on during pre and post op without going nuts! I hate to buy a lot and then not even like them. Thanks for any suggestions!
