I know what you mean about being all over the place! I will be like 598, 642, 1,490 like that. I have tried to make sense of it - am I not drinking enough water on my high days, and i excercising more on my high days, etc. but to no avail . . . tho Robin did help me decipher that I was "treating" myself on my high days, i.e. feeding my head hunger . . .all healthy, but beyond what I needed . . like my soy lattes (everyone else was going to starbucks, I wanted to come, too!) or my atkins bars (everyone else is eating chocolate; I am eating my safe alternative) so as she pointed out, I was eating because I wanted to be included and not because I NEEDED it - and that's head hunger. I am still trying to get it through my thick skull that just because "oh, I can have that!" does not mean that I SHOULD have it. Oh, to feel happy with my little 2 oz. cup of puree again!! But I'm afraid those days are over . . . . Anyone take an iron supplement that is non-constipating??

Jeez Tina, you aren't eating nearly enough! I doubt you will hear that from Robin tho, lol. Bear in mind that the carbs you see are gross carbs, your net carbs are your gross minus the fiber count. For a gross count, that is VERY low!! I eat no starches - all my carbs are from veggies and tofu - and I still net about 40 grams a day, a LOT more if I eat any fruit. Robin does have some say in how much of a fill you get . . .if you manage to convince her that you really do eat that little, you are not going to get much of a fill!

Good morning ladies! Tina yes, I print it right off of the computer & take to Robin, yiu just have it display the whole date range that you want on there, and hit print! Very cool. I also print her a cover sheet of the "analysis" button - again, enter the date range you want it to cover - and that prints out a nutritional summary for each day, including calories, carbs grams, protein grams etc. and your grade. That sheet will also print your average for whatever length of time you have chosen, I bring a week's worth so it will tell her like I average 1,083 calories and 50 grams of crabs and 20 grams of fiber or what not. It totalyy works for me, I always was a very competitive student so I try really hard to never get a "B" - when it looks like I am going to get one, I eat more vegies! Still feeling a little low on the ol' energy scale - only did 2.5 miles this morning, and did not jog ANY of it. Not good, since I just picked up my "Thrive" t-shirt last night for the Lake Tahoe Marathon (I am on "Team Thrive") in Septemeber, if I want to run part of that 10K at 6,000 feet altitude, I need to start training now! Maybe I need to get my labs done. Do you guys know how far out you are supposed to be for labs? I know RNY was 3, 6 and 12 months but I don't know for lap-band - the sheet they gave my PCP just said a year, so that is what he put into the system.

Hi Candra, water yes very important! I wish I could follow my own advice on water, I do great about every other day and just plain forget the rest of the time. I have thought about going down Lakeville to 37 . . . will trial-drive it earlier in the week, since I will be at Sears Point for a week anyways. It's about the same mileage either way, so it depends on where traffic is worse. Hwy 37 is my LEAST favorite road to travel on . . . I shall see. Thanks for the tip! I have a Mirena in and they never wanted me to take it out - I asked both Dr. Park and Dr. Baggs - but it is only progesterin, no estrogen. I know that they want you to stop all hormonal methods, including the shot, so that's a really really good question! Kind of too late now though, isn't it . . . . be sure to tell them so they can deal with potential for blood clots in surgery & right after.

You are doing better-er! I want to ask him to give me more, but he has already determined the amount that he is going to give me before he even walks into the room - the syringe already has 1cc in it, and that's it. I am just clueless about how he determines what he is going to give me. I guess I could ask again but I don't want to be a whiny nag . . . . or I guess I could just trust that he knows what he is doing, lol.

But more than half of that was pre-op!! I was actually losing faster on the 1200 calorie diet. Does anyone else feel that way? Nicole, didn't you go to the same orientation I did & lose a whole bunch before surgery too? God I'm STARVING right now, oh well I could not eat even if I HAD more breakfast! I was also feeling very weak on my walk-jog this morning, in fact I only did 3 of the 4 miles I try to do each morning. Maybe I'm not eating enough . . . . .

Kaiser Richmond Pre-op
He said everyone is different & that was all I needed . . . that soon I would only be getting 1/2 cc. Maybe I am shooting myself in the foot losing 12 lbs between fills & I should be losing less! I work SO HARD for every pound . . . . it think I "deserve" to lose faster!!
-
Kaiser Richmond Pre-op
I wish he would have given me more than 1cc at one of my fills!! I only got 1 each time, and only had 2 in there to start with . . . So you saw how much I ate for breakfast, which I finished only like 90 minutes ago . . now I am hungry again!!! If I wasn't stuck at the main County permits phone line right now I would drink a liter of water and go for a 20 minute walk, and that would at least stall my hunger for another hour, but I can't leave my seat. What to do, what to do??

oops that did not come out formatted like on the website! Soory bout that. ANyways, it's FREE and you can put in recipes, etc. and it will calculate the calories, fat, protein, carbs and everything else. Love it . . . .especially the FREE part

Good morning Christine!! Actually I'm coming from the west, will be crossing the San Rafael/Richmond bridge & driving up from Richmond. Still looks pretty easy on Mapquest. It's just that time of day getting from Santa Rosa to Richmond . . . ay yi yi, in the middle of the day it is 1 hour but in traffic it is 2.5 hours just to get to Richmond! Coming home is even worse, but we will get out of there by noon so I'm not going to worry about that. I was thinking about you on my walk last night, how you lost 4+ lbs. in a week after your fill! I will be lucky to lose 2 by the end of the week . . . it seems the more I lose, the harder it gets. Rats!

Tina, Robin did not bust my chops for salad at all - I just told her when I handed her my log, that she would not like some of the things on there, but that I logged for myself, not for anyone else. She did pop me for soy slender soy milk (drinking my calories), for atkins protein bars (feeding my head hunger), and for the few snacks that I logged (we all know snacking's a no-no). And yes I logged them as snacks. I was starving!!! And I also explained that things like salads and Fiber One were to help me poop, for pete's sake - benefiber just makes me gassy. I told HER which things she would not like. I even had sunflower kernals on there - I eat them on top of sliced cucumbers - and all she said was "oh Jane, sunflower seeds are REALLY high in calories." So tell her, be honest! That's the only way she can help you. After all, she's not going to take your band away :-)

Don't give up Candra! Your body is rebelling & hanging on to water in an attempt to protect itself from startvation . . this is, after all, medically-supervised starvation! Cut out the carbs & double your water, and you will lose 5! Are you logging EVERYthing you eat? I log every bite at www.caloriecount.about.com, every day. Thanks Christine, good to know how long we will be there for . . . now does anyone have the address of the Pinole MOB? It's apparently too new to show up online . . . another 1/2 hour with Robin, oh joy she will want my food log again and I leave to camp out at the NASCAR race the Thursday before, then my daughter's wedding up north of Redding on Sunday, I won't get home until Tuesday and will be puffed up like a balloon from heat, salt, and (shhh) alcohol . . . and she'll want a food log??? Maybe I'll bring her one from the week before, since I won't be near a computer to get online & log what I eat. . . . So my fill is working so far, my calories have been cut almost in half! The amount that I eat is also cut in half, lol. I am .2 lbs away from 80 lbs. lost this morning! WOO-HOO!! Riley

Hey there Jes, how are you doing? These girls are all crazy, aren't they? Pages of hilarity this weekend! They sure know how to have fun & support each other! Hey whoa Tina, you thought he was shiny too! I bet you do start laughing when he starts to do your fill tho . . .ask him if he's ever had anyone film it & see what he says, LOL!! I hope he doesn't think we're picking on him, I mean after all, he is the best lap-band surgeon I have EVER had!! God I'm cracking myself UP tonight! Better have some nice herbal tea & settle down a bit

Kaiser Richmond Pre-op
So where is the Pinole MOB? Does anyone have an address? Does anyone know if this is like a 1-hour thing on the 25th, or a 3-hour thing, or ??? I need to request the time off work and I don't know how long it will take me to get there/back or how long I'll be there . . . . thanks gang

Holy crapamoli - I LOVE that Nicole!! Can I borrow it for work??

LOL Tina, no I can't see us having nearly as much fun with Dr. Fischer. While I agree that the braided tapes is TOTALLY stylish, I would implore you to not bring up the fill video just in case he asks you what you thought of it, and you have to answer honestly . . ay yi yi, my bad!!! Hey you know what would be totally cool, you can make the braided belt & then post a pic & instructions and we can all make them too, wear them everytime we go in, now that's RIGHT up my weird alley!!
-
Kaiser Richmond Pre-op
OMG Tina you have me totally busting up! I LOVE the idea of wearing the measuring tape like a belt, then going, "oh gee, I wonder what this is for!' Since I am always the wacko one there, be nice to have some other zanies around there!! LOL, keep em coming laughter burns lots of calories! :-) I can't go tomorrow, Tuesdays are Board of Supervisors & I am usually presenting so they are pretty much out . . . the Tuesday I got there a few weeks ago was great tho, you guys are SO much fun!!! They measured us at the beginning & end of our 14-week class in Santa Rosa, I lost 5 freakin' inches off my waist in the time! Nothing so dramatic since, dagnab it . . . . Rosey ol' pal, good to hear from you!! Wish I had made the meeting you had, dagnab it again . . .I want to meet you! As I was hiking up hills Saturday, giving thanks that my body is working the way He intended for it to again, it occured to me that this whole time that I was thinking He had let me down with this body, in fact the whole time, it was I letting Him down by not doing what I needed to do to keep my body healthy . . . lots of factors in that, of course . . .and how blessed I am to have this band, as it has allowed me to come back to health and realize it, and . . . . anyways as I was walking, I thought I had to tell you that! So there you have it

Hi Candra ~ keep telling yourself this is the LAST time, because it is! Every 5 lbs. you lose is 5 lbs. gone forever, because after the pre-op weight loss you never have to do it "alone" again! You will always have your little personal "trainer" (your band) reminding you to not eat too much, eat slowly, chew carfeully, and stop when you first get full. How cool is THAT?!? So this IS the last time! Riley

Nicole, just read yoiur blog entry - you girls are so clever to be able to figure all this stuff out! - and I winder, I was told (don't remember by whom) that it is a 10 ml. band but holds 14 cc? Does that sound familiar to anyone? I know that they come in 2 sizes now, but I remain confused . . . .and who are the austrilians?

Afternoon ladies . . . . Reggie, I had sharp pain in my shoulders (both) for a few days after surgery, us. in the evening, that was like the only place I had gas pains after I got out of post-op. But I continued to have bad pain in my right shoulder - and it turns out it is a pinched nerve, it is related to the rapid weight loss: the 'girls' are just now beginning to shrink, they are not well-supported -I'm 47 & nursed 3 babies, plus rode horses for years, so they don't exactly have a pleasing shape LOL - and my neck & shoulder apparently suffer from their weight in front. I am so glad they are shrinking now! Anyway my PCP has given me a bunch of exercises to do for it, and Flexeril for the pain when it makes my shoulder muscles cramp up suddenly. I struggle with it every day. He wants to give me cortisone injections but I'm just not ready for that. I hope your pains are jst gas, with no lasting effects! Restriction from my fill Friday did not last long, the "funnelling" was only the first day. But I am full on 1/2 cup again, hallelujah! I think the "sweet spot" will always be elusive for me, I will hit it right after a fill for 2 weeks that be out of it again until my next fill. Thank goodness there is a lot of room in my band, I only have 50 lbs. left to lose and can still fit quite a few cc's in the band! Oh the tofu noodles with the laughing cow light wedge and smoked turkey was SOOOOOO good! My mom used to make turkey tetrazini (sp?) and it tasted just like that, very comforting and VERY fiiling! Too stuffed to go walk right now tho, LOL! I love it

Good morning ladies! Nicole, that is totally awesome news! I know that whole thing was weighing heavy on your mind, but you were you and Mike was proud and you got complimented on how great you look! WOOT! It's not just skinnier either, girls we are HEALTHIER in all ways, and it shows! Peeling/painful nails, uhm yeah, after a year of acrylics your real nails would be really thin, and painful! I have them taken off every couple of years and it takes them 3-4 months to grow out & by healthy again, I actually had a hole right through my real nail from where they cut off the fake . . it hurt SO bad . . . but do you think I would learn, and just grow my own nails?? Oh hells no, I got acrylics again as soon after surgery as I could drive down to the spa! It's my only girly-girl thing Scale is moving again, I am full of good cheer and loving my band this morning! Wish I felt this way every time O got on the scale, LOL but I don't. Out for my walk so I can get back in time to do laundry while I watch the rescheduled NASCAR race! :laugh:TTFN
