    a few questions

It sounds like we are in the same boat. I was banded on 7/15/08 and had lost 40 lbs prior to my surgery. In the next month and a half I lost another 15 lbs and have not lost anything in almost 2 months. I have only had one fill, 1cc in a 10 cc band, but it is an 8 hour round trip drive to the doctor and I just had my first fill 2 weeks ago and cannot possibly go back for at least another month being a single mom with a busy work schedule. I am trying to stay positive since I have lost 55 lbs total, but I did 40 on my own and only 15 since my surgery. I am sure that eventually this is going to be OK and I will lose the weight, but it really does get depressing at times. Hopefully we can both hang in there and accomplish what we set out to do. Good luck to you and keep your mind in the game..

    Lump that isn't Port

I just had my first fill, and the lady who did it, told me that big lump was scar tissue. She said at first it is hard to tell the scar tissue from the port, but eventually it will go down.

    C-PAP Machine / Travel?

I found that traveling with my CPAP machine was a lot of extra trouble. I flew on Southwest and both directions, they made me take the machine out of the bag, and then they took the machine and X-rayed it somewhere else. Afterward they brought it back and I had to put it all back together. Just make sure you have a little extra time. They were very nice about it, and it seemed it was a pretty common occurence.

    HELP...Sharp Pain in stomach

I was having the same thing at about 3 weeks post-op and found that it went away when I switched from a soy based protein drink. I just decided my system couldn't handle that protein drink and it caused unbearable pain. Don't know why but it went away as soon as I switched.

    12 days post op/port pain

My first two days post-op were pretty painful, but then I did really well for the next 5 days, almost no pain meds at all. Then I went back to work and sat all day and I was back on the pain meds, worse than after my surgery. I called my Dr and they said it was normal don't worry. The port pain got worse and worse every day, and I was sure something was wrong. Then on day 14 I woke up and the pain was completely gone, and only returns once in a while when I do something stupid. Hang in there, it will get better soon and you will just be amazed.

    shoulder pain

I am 5 1/2 weeks post-op and have never had any shoulder pain, until last night. I did not relate it to the surgery for 3 hours as I laid in bed just dying, and worrying about everything else it could be. Pain meds did absolutely nothing. Then I had a thought about what people on LBT have said about gas pains in the shoulder way after the surgery and I got up and took 2 gas-x chewables. My pain was gone 10 minutes later. I was glad I finally remembered what advice was given here, but mad at myself for not figuring it out sooner. :wink2:
  7. There is a really good reason that MSNBC is the lowest rated News network out there.
  8. I have noticed that a lot you say that you either are eating low carb, or you comment that possibly someone should eat low carb, if they are not losing enough weight, but I cannot find anything that tells me what my limitations on carbs should be. I got packets of paper from my Dr and I cannot find anywhere in there, an estimate on where your carbs should be for a day. I know that all Dr's have different diets, but I was wondering what seems to work for you all.:whatchutalkingabout
  9. I too was banded on 7/15/08 and I have lost 5 lbs. I do everything right, I eat my protein, drink my water, and eat 800-1000 calories a day. I was only expecting to lose 10 lbs per month, but am no where near that. If I had lost 26 lbs since my surgery I would be dancing on the stars. Everyone loses at different rates and we all need to be happy to be losing and not gaining at this point.
  10. I am newly banded on 7/15/08 -gas pain is tolerable and really not much port pain, for the first week while I was off work. Now that I have been back to work for a week, at a job where I sit all day, the pain at my port site is getting worse instead of better. Has anyone else had this problem? I am wondering if it is from sitting all day, I do try to get up and walk around, but by the end of the day, I am back on the pain meds. Just wondering if this is normal, or if I may have a problem.

newly banded - horrible port pain

Thanks for your thoughts. I was afraid it was probably from sitting since it didn't hurt until I went back to work. I will try to get up and walk more often and see if that helps. It will hopefully only get better from here.
