  1. Congrats! And that is soon, so you don't have much longer to wait!
  2. 39 pounds in less than two months is outstanding.
  3. Hmmm. Interesting. At any rate, good luck.
  4. You are gonna do great. What time is your surgery?
  5. Congrats! I, too, am surprised that you are having such food already. Chicken on the day of the surgery? Wow!
  6. I say bravo to you for recognizing this and having the courage to discuss it. I have no doubt that the example of your mother contributed to this, but I also think it IS about your history with your body. I suspect that an inclination toward a distrust of touch (as learned behavior) added to what probably was great discomfort with your body in the past developed a strong disinclination to be accepting of touch. I have to say that I do not think it would be very effective to have someone force you to accept their touch or simply ignore your feelings about this. It is much deeper than that and you run the risk of further solidifying in your position. I think that we can give you lots of armchair advice, but I really think you should discuss this with a professional. I think taht would help you to really think through everything that is at work and allow you to free yourself. One of the things that people on this forum say frequently is that the sleeve can change your stomach but it doesn't change what is going on in your head. People often are referring to the way that we think about food, but I think it is much more. I think it also is about how we we think about our bodies, who we see ourselves to be and how we think of ourselves in relation to others. That's my two sense: find a therapist whom you can trust. You'll be happy you did.
  7. I am July 9 also. I will be sleeved by Dr. Mario Almanza in TJ, Mexico. I am set for that day, have scheduled time off work and have purchased plane tickets, so there is no chance of changeing my date, but I am excited that you might get to do your own a few days earlier. Regardless, I am sure you will do spendidly!
  8. Glad it went well!
  9. July 9 can't get her soon enough for me!
  10. Donna, we will be there together! I also am July 9 with Dr. Almanza. All, I think there is another July thread, too.Just a heads-up if you want to connect into that one.
  11. I don't shop at Wal-Mart, but I LOVE the Target brand! I also get burned out on the lemonades, so the "fruity" flavors I love!
  12. Wow! Quick turn-around and scheduling. That is wonderful. Congrats to you!
  13. You will do splendidly! Sending positive energy your way.
  14. I'll be sending positive energy to all of you!
  15. Yay for you! I am super excited for you!
  16. I did US Air, and even two months out it was like $500 to go direct from DC to San Diego. But there are deals to be had.
  17. Wow, I can't wait to: * Get off BP meds! * Stop worrying that I will end up with diabetes * Clothes -- 'nuff said. * Not be the fattest person in the room. * Not always assume that people are thinking about how fat I am * Have more energy
  18. I think you might be in surgery now. God bless! You will do splendidly.
  19. I will have five days of liquids pre-op. I told my coordinator I as going to start earlier to jump-start my weight-loss and she advised against it, saying she felt it would be hard and I would be tempted to cheat toward the end. Hmmm. Anyway, you will make it through and all will be well!
