Need help... What would you do????
Saundra replied to skinnyme2be's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I came back to see how you were doing skinny and reread my last post, to my horror theres parts missing, I was talking about when I needed to quit smoking cigarettes for my health. I;m glad your feeling stronger, don't be surprised if theres some not so strong days once in awhile, just remember you deserve to be treated much better than you were. -
Everyones welcome at WVU, I went there myself for a little while before my 3rd was born and I had to stop. My oldest loves it there so much he bought a restaurant this year that he worked at last year. LOL and it looks like we have another son wanting to go there as well, so all I can say is Letsss Goooo Mountaineers!! P.S. Your hubby obviously has good taste in schools and women :w00t:

Anybody's spouse an "eating buddy"?
Saundra replied to BethFromVA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had some of the same thoughts as you. My hubby isn't skinny but if he lost 20 he would be pushing it. Since I started the 1200 calorie diet what I've been doing is say when I buy chciken I measure it out, more him and less for me, freeze it and when its time to cook its all good. We have eaten out a few times, we've done the sharing and he adds a salad and sides, we both we full and he wasn;'t deprived, and I ate wise. If he wants something thats a no no or not on my list, he can have it, I just eat something else. Theres no hanging out in front of the tube with a bag of doughnuts now, but we are still tigether when we watch tv. He knows how much this means to me and that it will make me healthier. My sister who has been overweight even longer than myself but is younger is just now seeing some of the heath problems knock at her door. Shes never been able to loose so she wants me to ne the guinea pig and if it works for me then get it done for herself. I think she'd be doing it sooner but right now shes looking at a hysterectomy and a few other things first. Someone pointed out that most oner weight females are givers, strong need to please, and so on. If we don't get this weight off now, we may not be around to worry about anyone elses needs. Sorry if that seems morbid but for a lot of us its the truth. -
Today I heard from my closest childhood friend! Its been, wow almost 30 years.

The bling cracked me up,:cool2: I've been sitting here watching differant ones on youtube and I feel like I burned a calorie or two......This looks like so much fun, I took belly dancing wayyyyyyyyy back in the skinny days, of course i dodn't have any boobs or really much hips then but it was tons of fun. I'm trying to picture me and my oversized belly doing this... EEeekkk

has anyone heard from WVNASCARFAN, I was hoping she'd feel up to posting and let us know how everything went

I just watched it on you tube, looks like a lot of fun, I didn't look for the zumba gold on you tube just the regular. Looks like a fun work out

Anne, you can watch each episode after its aired if you miss any more of them. I don't know if I think it was rigged, it looked to me like he was retaining fluids when they were checking his leg out which of course could explain his gaining 2 pounds. It happens to me. I'd like to think thats what happened and that the scales aren't riggged, I feel the same way about the trainers, cooks, staff, audience, it would be a huge motivator for anyone. Likewise i also wish they'd do follow up. I think Alis kept hers off but I'd have to go back and check the site. My hubby and I both love watching the show and will continue. We both said he was going home the first time she said no one would be voting, but we also don't know how exactly the show is pieced together since its not real time. Just a pennies worth

1200 calorie for me from day one with nutritionist, so it will be like 7-8 months on it. Not hard to do after the first week

Iys a cool fall day here and the rain just started to fall, but somehow my knees haven't been screaming like they normally do. I can only assume its the 23 lbs I've lost so far. Saundra

When I met my surgeon he stared at my stomach and made the statement I would probably need some plastic surgery after I lost my weight. I do look ready to deliver, but I can't afford a plastic surgeon. Does anyone know of a good way to loose these basketballs with no impact to very low impact exercise? He acted like surgery was the only answer:sad_smile: Thanks in advance

ok I'm confused, I'm looking at my belly and don't seem to see fibers looking streched or anything, maybe I am looking for the wrong thing. I have no stretch marks on my stomach anywhere. I'm assuming I don't know what I'm looking for here.

I didn't take his look or comment as being anything but honest, hes a very straight forward person, which is the kind I respond to best since I'm that way myself. Believe me I would never want a surgeon who looked down at me. I really think he sees this as a future problem for me though. I've seen a lot of the before and after pic on here and I don't mean to be nosey but I'd like to think not everyone had surgery to remove saggy skin. My biggest problem is that I'm limited with exercise and I am assuming thats why he made the comment. I'm looking for anyone who got rid of the big belly without surgery. Thank you for your kind reply/

Dealing with Friends and Family
Saundra replied to Ditkadog1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've told my sons and my sister, the negative came from thinking I was having the more radical bypass. Most have heard nothing but bad about WLS or if they have heard any good they seem to forget. My sister was negative at first, now she wants to watch and see how mine goes.....my hubby is my biggest supporter, he knows how much this means to me! -
Smoking after being banded
Saundra replied to luvsmysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As you've read theres definately major reasons related to the band for quitting. I used a site to help me quit. www.whyquit.com it made a lot of sense and somehow made quitting cold turkey more bearable. Heres a little info that i still keep ongoing track of I have been quit for 1 Year, 3 Months, 1 Week, 3 Days, 16 hours, 5 minutes and 58 seconds (468 days). I have saved $3,374.42 by not smoking 18,746 cigarettes. I have saved 2 Months, 4 Days, 2 hours and 10 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 6/20/2007 12:00 AM Good Luck!!!! -
That totally rocks, I am trying to imagine being you. Please you have to share, 100lbs in less than a year!!!!!! We all could benefit from your secrets, recipes, exercises, whatever you used to get where your at.

Need help... What would you do????
Saundra replied to skinnyme2be's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
skinnyme2be I read both opinions on this and I'm one of the been there had it done to me ones (with litle kids as well). Life sucks right now but it will get better. When i wanted to quit I always had that what about this and that, and even though I knew I was going to loose someone who meant the world to me I was reminded that life always has stress to some degree or other. If I put stopping off because of stress I'd never quit. I also think that concentrating could be a good distraction from the pain. I lost weight when we split and that made me want to loose more to look good, you know the see look what you lost thing! So I'm with the go for it ones. Regard;ess its your decision, I wouldn't wish what they did to you on anyone. Sadly ithappened. Stronger (and thinner) you'll be after. Saundra -
Froggi with 5 sons, I was expecting to see someone I knew
-
I should of mentioned this as well, she said there was no precertification showing yet, which could explain why I paid so much for my endo.....I think the best thing I heard was I only pay $100.00 per hospital stay, regardless of how many days.... something tells me when its all said and done its gonna cost me more than I'm thinking right now, it almost always seems to. Froggi I know what you mean, I feel for you when you talk about coming up with the money. We are feeling the crunch already here, with 5 boys the economys hit is hitting home fast here. Makes me wish I could go and get a job to help out, but it won't make me feel bad about spending money for the surgery. I'll find other ways to cut costs around the house, with the exception of hitting my goal weight, I plan to shop till I drop  Saundra

I broke down and called my insurance again.... EEKkkkk.......First call I got the diagnostic code or thats what I'm told it was by BSBC 278.01 but this wasn't the code that was needed. The lady was really nice and told me if I could get a procedure code she could tell me if it would be covered under my policy. I ended up with Dr. Shins office on my cell and her in my other ear. I didn't get a code but The woman at Shins office said that if BCBS covered the surgery they would cover the fills as well.......and the lady from BCBS's reply to this was they would know better than her........so even though this sounds like they will pay for it, theres still that room for doubt.......but I'll ask again when I go on the 6th.
