    Strength & Muscle Building 💪

To all my people out there who have a passion or knowledge for fitness/strength building - any tips on where to start in terms of pushing yourself? I know I have mentioned on here before about my exercise regime, but I feel that it was more centred around weight loss, and now I want to somewhat shift that in order to maximise some muscle gain & definition. I am not saying I want to be a complete muscle mummy, but I'd definitely like more muscle definition in my arms and legs My current exercise regime: Monday: Legs @ Gym 4 x 10 leg press 100kg 4 x 10 Leg extensions 4 x 10 leg curls 4 x 10 weighted hip thrusts & Les Mills Legs, Bums & Tums class Tuesday: 30 mins on treadmill at a 12% incline, 4.8, 3mph speed Wednesday: Chest @ gym 4 x 10 assisted bench press 4 x 10 tricep pulldowns 4 x 10 face-pulls 4 x 10 bicep curls superset with lateral raises 4 x 10 upright flyes & Les Mills Legs, Bums & Tums class Thursday: 30 mins on treadmill at a 12% incline, 4.8, 3mph speed So far Fri, Sat & Sunday I do nothing...maybe I need to change that 🤣 Anyway...any advice is appreciated! ❤️
  2. Heya! Whilst it was definitely a nice experience, it was one that felt strange for me! I didn't quite believe I could fit into the smaller sizes, so was constantly sizing up when I didn't need to. Even now, I am sure I need to go down a size but I don't think I am prepared to make that leap! Just feels really strange! I am however really excited about the access to new styles, the fact I can shop in "normal" places now, and generally enjoy shopping a bit more now!
  3. My boyfriend and I broke up over the weekend, and I just wanted to reach out to my bari-family for support 😓 I remember reading loads about how after surgery lots of people found that their relationships broke down for one reason or another, and the statistics around this being quite shocking. Whilst I don't contribute my break-up to my surgery/weight loss, I am struggling at the moment with the emotional side of things following it all. Rather than emotional eating, I am finding that I have 0 appetite at all, I just don't want to eat, I don't want to do my exercise, ugh. But I am also scared of just doing nothing. I don't know guys, I am rambling, but either way , just wanted to reach out to see how others have dealt with this in their own lives. ❤️

Thank you for checking in! Things are really good actually! We've really worked through it and it feels secure ❤️

I was told off by a friend for not stretching the other day...🤣 Apparently it is important!

@SpartanMaker I was hoping to summon you! Genuinely thank you so much for such a detailed response - I will be using what you have said, I plan to print it out and work it into my weekly routines! Incidentally my Les Mills classes are coming to an end this Wednesday, so I will have more time on my hands. The cardio is something I do need to up, I agree. I have a bicycle at home and I should probably use that more! Again, thank you so much

    Finally Taking Control

I second that the bit about the gym membership turned donation centre also made me giggle 🤣 We have all indeed been where you are now and you are taking a massive step forward to putting yourself first, and I truly respect that. What I respect even more is the fact you are taking time to get informed about your options and the reality before making a firm decision! Surgery, like most things, isn't a 1 size fits all 100% guaranteed fix, but y'know what, it got me out of that slump of "just starting fresh on Monday", and gave me the tools I needed to change my life. Absolutely excited for you!
  8. Just to reiterate what everyone else has said - my surgeon advised to stop drinking at midnight before the surgery! All the best of luck - you are going to be fine! ❤️
  9. I for one feel like I am constantly changing my style, whether that is my hair colour, the kinds of clothes that I wear, my make up etc! Anyone else feel like they are constantly playing dress up and having fun seeing what suits them after weight loss? For reference - I have just dyed my hair pink & have included a picture of my birthday outfit from Saturday!
  10. One for my UK family ❤️ Recently had a referral made for plastics in the UK via the NHS - now I know the likelihood of this being approved is extremely low - the GP making the referral even said to me it is entirely dependent on what clinician picks it up, as we are at their whim/bias, even telling me a story of how one woman had her loose skin removal referral denied because the clinician stated that because she paid for her RNY privately, then she could afford to pay for plastics...how awful! Either way - has anyone actually had their plastics on the NHS, and if so, what was your experience like? If not - have you paid privately in the UK and if so, where did you go? I have been looking into Ian Whittaker!

    Drinking carbonated drinks

Just to add: I only drink sugar free 🤣

    Drinking carbonated drinks

Hey! Welcome to the forums! I notice from another post you said you had surgery on 28/05/25 which wasn't too long ago! I personally was advised by my surgical team to stay away from carbonated drinks for the first 6 months post-surgery (I think I waited around 8 months in total), just because it can fill the tummy with air which can be painful & also stretch the stomach. I am completely fine drinking them now, and I take normal sips! Definitely worth the wait
  13. @GreenTealael Ooo yes I love a bodycon! My breasts were a 42GG - I am now down to a 32E and I completely get the deflated thing! I wonder if I will need the same thing! Omg I can't wait to have smaller boobs so I can go without a bra, wear backless dresses and cowl-style tops!!! So glad that you are enjoying and loving your new body ❤️
  14. Oh god I don't know about that! I am so not confident for a bikini yet...my tits are non-existent skin bags and my tummy is deflated 😂

    Plastics Referral via NHS

Neither did I!! But I have been told it is a postcode lottery I am not confident but I have everything crossed and I will keep you updated! xx
  16. Thank you so much ❤️ First year in my new body sounds so mad to me! (in a good way) - I never thought it'd even be possible. I even celebrated with some sugar-free cake 🤣 Lovely to hear that you are enjoying getting dressed-up ❤️
  17. Aha I love that description! Thank you! ❤️ Black was always to go-to right 🤣 I bet you look fab in red!! And congratulations on being such a confident woman!
  18. Did you wear many different things compared to pre and post-plastics? I feel like there are so many things that I want to wear right now, but until I have plastics, they don't feel too accessible!
  19. Thank you!! ❤️
  20. Thank you so much! So glad to hear that you are enjoying clothes! It is definitely something that people take for granted, and something that still feels surreal to me!
  21. Thank you!! That is so amazing to hear how your confidence has grown, and you seem to be rocking with it entirely! Omg I can't wait to be able to wear a bikini one day!!
  22. Absolutely love your style!
  23. I have been getting tattooed since I was 18 (so for 10 years now!), and I consider myself to be decently covered, but I have only had 1 tattoo since having surgery and it was so much more painful! My prep pre-surgery for a tattoo would be coming into the session armed with sugary snacks, but of course I can't do that now. I have a whole chest piece booked in for April, and I was wondering if anyone has any tips for preparing for a tattoo in a bariatric friendly way?
  24. @Arabesque I feel that! It is weird to look back and think of how much effort I put into trying to hide/disguise/conceal my body via clothes when in reality, I don't think anyone but me really cared! A wardrobe of timeless, statement pieces...now that sounds interesting & I'd be so curious to see what kind of statement pieces you have! Sounds fabulous! Clothing addiction is definitely something I think a lot of us have now that we can wear more in different sizing's - you aren't alone haha! Thank you! ❤️
