These are street taco size so perfect bypass size lol. 25 cals for 1 - 7g carbs but 7g Fiber so it equals 0 net carbs. They have them in whole wheat version as well as a sundried Tomato version.

In due time, your food palette will expand again. It’s just a matter of portions and balance. I’ve definitely had a maduro and a mini pastelito, but they aren’t things I have often or have in the house.

Cool....will check these out as I love me some mexican too! Lol! I do have some pinto Beans to make refried beans and ground turkey and low fat mozarella. Thanks again!

You will, it may sit differently when you start eating it. I'm not much of a rice person, used to go for the "pegao" with Beans, and I still have it sometimes. I find the trick to sticking to a small portion, I still have tostones, maduros, pastelitos etc, but I reduce the portion just to satisfy the craving.

Thanks for your input. I know I won't be able to eat much of it, but still would like to enjoy some of my foods!

I too am Puerto Rican so I understand the attachment to rice. I am 8 months post-op. I personally have had rice on a few occasions. It does not cause me any discomfort, but I haven't had it in any large amounts. I had about a tablespoon of arroz con gandules and a tablespoon of stuffing for Thanksgiving. I still follow protocol of concentrating on Protein first and foremost and then veg and carbs. A small taste is fine once in awhile especially for the holidays or special occasion as long as it's not a bigger trigger for you to keep going. Even before surgery, I was used to substituting cauli rice for reg rice. It took me a long time to try bread again and when I did it was a Keto bread just one slice. It sits fine, but i don't eat it often at all. I prefer a mini zero carb tortilla when the mood strikes. A pack of 12 tortillas can last me a month and I've yet to go through more than 3 slices of bread from the entire loaf.

Some plans can differ, some people's preferences will differ, and sometimes your tummy chooses for you as things won't sit well. I like to live in the middle ground, where I follow my plan the greater majority of the time, but don't demonize any food. I make the choice to choose foods better for me - leaner Proteins, veggies, hearts of palm Pasta, little to no sugar added foods, high Protein low carb Snacks. Fortunately now there are many more healthier options so you don't always have to go without.

Thank you Shanna....I realize I won't be able to eat much of it, just right now still on this liquid diet and all I can think of is my PR food! I am looking at other healthy recipes too. I'm hoping that cauliflower rice will be a good subsitute. Not a big bread eater but I do like to have a toasted bread with butter and an egg for breakfast at times.Mini zero carb tortilla....never heard of that one? I suppose I'll find things as I go on my new journey! 🙂

I am officially 3 weeks post op and I’ve loss a total of 22 pounds so far.

This was the first time that I’ve celebrated a birthday where I couldn’t drink or eat because I am still on the post op full liquid diet. I don’t know why I felt sad because today is my actual birthday Nov 6 and I can’t do anything for it cause like I said my birthday always was surrounded by food and drinks so today was very different…..

Before all of this you try and prepare yourself for the different lifestyle but boy it’s something different when you start going through it……

I spent my birthday and Thanksgiving on a liquid diet too. Thanksgiving was probably harder because I stayed in the house and thought about all my family gathering together and enjoying our traditional Thanksgiving meal.

I had a gastric bypass on Monday. Tuesday was actual hell because I kept throwing up for nearly 24 hours.
I was feeling better by Thursday and was able to come home on Friday but now (Saturday) I am vomiting and it tastes like fecal matter smells?
My hospitals nurse line is closed so I can’t call until tomorrow.
Has anyone else had this happen? If so, what were the results?
Google is making it sound like I may need another surgery to fix a blockage.

I used to have "sulfuric" burps (rotten egg smell) and it's from my gall bladder and/or gerd....so hopefully it's something like that. Please let us know what you find out. Pray all goes well!

I'm supposed to have my surgery on Dec 27th at Mt Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA, with pre-op tests scheduled for next week. Today, I get an automated message from my hospital to check MyChart. I did, and it showed my pre-test appointment as canceled. My surgery date is also gone from my upcoming visits. No explanation. Meanwhile, my insurance approval appears to have gone through. I called the weight management center's office and the receptionist mumbled something about surgeries being canceled and someone would call to explain. No one has called all day. I emailed, too, but nothing. Now the office is closed for the day and I'm so worked up over this, I won't get a wink of sleep. It wouldn't be such a big deal if it had to be delayed, except I am currently on an insurance plan through the healthcare marketplace as I am self-employed and my husband has been unemployed for a bit. But he starts a new job in January and I have no idea what the health insurance situation is going to be in terms of coverage. I am so stressed right now I could cry.

So sorry to hear that. I understand that marketplace healthcare cuz mines changed Dec 1st, that's why I had them do my surgery Nov 27th so we wouldn't have that issue. Pray everything works out for you!

just so you know, a lot of us have trouble with eggs the first few weeks or months after surgery. I did not - I could eat them just fine. But egg intolerance seems to be a common issue with people - at least when they're still pretty early out.

So, what was the first thing you ate when you were able??

I could eat eggs so I appreciated very runny scrambled eggs & instant rolled oats from purée (again very runny made in lots of milk). Thank goodness for them & thicker Soups during purées cause a lot of things just tasted awful. I even ate baby food a couple of times. Once in soft food I ate a lot of mince dishes, stews & thicker chunky Soups.

Remember your shakes & soups count towards your Fluid intake so that helps. I still keep Water by my bed & sip during the night (every time I get in & out of bed) so you’re drinking 24 hrs a day. Don’t worry if you don’t hit that 64oz at first. As long as you’re close & making an effort.

Thank you! It's not that I'm hungry...it's just that I'm tired of drinking these shakes and broths. I keep on reading all this stuff like being able to eat eggs after 2 weeks liquid like a cheese omelet....and so I start anticipating it. Or i read about eating oatmeal....anything but this Protein shakes! And maybe if i can make like a protein smoothie myself....I don't know....it's just hard. Appreciate you responses.

Y'all I DID IT!!! 1 YEAR AND 8 MONTHS POST OP AND I HIT MY GOAL!! 🤩

Now, I know my little "signature" doesn't reflect that, but my REAL goal which my surgeon and myself agreed on was 225 lbs and I AM THERE!! I am also very satisfied here, especially if the skin was gone. My "new/documented" goal is 210 lbs just so I can officially say I lost OVER 50% of my starting body weight! I am so excited!!

NOW TIME FOR SKY DIVING!!!! As my personal reward, as soon as it gets warmer I JUMP!!!!

SOOOO much has changed, I don't even know where to start!

DO IT, DON'T WAIT- DO IT NOW! ZERO REGRETS!

Congratulations! It's encouraging to hear that cuz I'm one week in and I am getting so discouraged.

  10. Thanks everyone. Guess I'm just venting....I only thought of Peanut Butter because of the Protein. I usually have 2 30gram Premier Protein shakes a day and one cup of chicken broth. Try to get in more fluids but it's very hard to get some 64 Fluid ounces in daily.

I haven't had any complications so far, thank God....pain is diminishing.....do my daily walks up and down the hallways. Just tired of the monotony. I have doctor's appointment this Friday, maybe she'll let me move on to at least some scrambled eggs.
