  1. Happy 35th Birthday murphmann!

  2. 3 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 3rd Anniversary murphmann!

  3. I have lost 124 lbs in the first 10months. For me the key has been to exercise(especially lifting weights) and not trying to eat around the band, such as eating only thiings that go down easy, I have tried to take advantage of the band. Also being accountable to someone else. I have made my goals known to a few people and they check up on me. Keep trying until you find what works.
  4. Today my wife was finally approved for her band, it made me reflect on my experiance thus far with my band(banded 9/17/08. I am 31yrs old, so being active is important to me, that was my motovation. so far I have lost 107lbs. My secret is excersize and math. I say math because I track my calories burned through excersize and weights and make sure that it is more than what I bring in. I try to lose about 4 pounds a week. for me this is the easiest way. No soda was hard but the best thing for my health.I have trouble eating bread and pasta. Refied beans are great, so is soup. It has been a huge change, but a great one. My weight was my problem, but with some medical intervention and alot of work I am able to do something about it. IK hsve hit three weight mile stones. 1. first 40lbs, 2. when my drivers licence was wrong because of less weight , not more. 3. 100lb mark. Work and support is the key. My wife has been great and the NEW U clinci in Idaho falls is the best. I feel like I am becoming the person I was meant to be.Lets all keep pushing. It is possible
  5. I am down 75lbs since being banded 9/17. Its all about the workout. Cardio twice a day and weights three days a week. Maybe I gotten a little faniatic with it, but hey i figure if I am gonna let someone cut me open and stick a band around my stomach I might as well do my part. The exercise guy at my clinic stresses weight training because mucle burns fat. Good luck to all
  6. I was banded on Sept 17th and lost 70lbs so far(lots of cardio and weights) anyway, does anybody else have a problem itchy skin where there is stretch marks. I will scratch until I bleed. I am not sure if it is because of the skin trying to shrink, but it is driving me crazy. Am I the only one
  7. Well, thanksgiving was interesting. Mashed potatoes and stuffing went donw ok. THere was a mix of people who knew I was banded and didn't know., fun afternoon explaining it to many people. Interesting thing is that I found my self feeling that I had to explain that It was all the hard work I ws doing and not the band that was helping me lose 64lbs in 2.5months. That the band was just a tool. I guess I shouldn't care what they think. I really think people assume the band is a magic pill or something, or that it is cheating, anyway I am grateful for it and would reccomend it

    I am estatic

Looks like you are doing good yourself. It's funny but, I almost feel like I'm getting addicted to working out,or maybe just the results anyways keep up the work.
  9. :tt2:I just had to share how wonderful the lap band has been for me. I was banded on sept17th, and with the 2week pre diet I am down 63 lbs. I am learning a ton. Most of all is that the key to losing weight does not change with the band, it comes down to watching what you eat and exercise(lots of it). before I started I wore a 20 or 22 inch neck on my shirt, Tonight I bought a 17.5. I was wearing a 44 pants size, just bought a 38. My bmi is below 40, and my drivers licence weight is actuall acurate. Yeah for the band. it is possible with the right amount of work and a great support system(New U in Idaho falls rocks) and a great family. Lets all keep pushing foward,
  10. I am 2.5 weeks post op, and and on soft solids. Well I was feeling good and my wife made a low fat terriyaki chicken and broccali dish, well the chicken was not grinded or:tongue_smilie: mashed up enough. Mann am I sorry. I ended up throwing up and feeling like crap, well I will never do that again. Please learn from my mistake
  11. I was banded on the 17th of sept, and was having the same problem. My clinic told me I was not eating enough. If you are not eating enough your body goes into starvation mode and will store food, instead of burning it. you may wan tto call your doc or dietician. Good luck:lol:
  12. I called my clinic yesterday because I had gained weight(I am only 2 weeks post op, and was on soft liquids, and starting soft solids) I was told tha limiting my self to eating slimfast and soup was not sufficient. I was not eating enough, can you imagine being told to eat more, thst is a first in my life. So, I am eating more hearty food, and I can practily feel my metabolism rolling. This is great.
  13. I am two weeks post op. I lost 40 lbs in the 2week pre diet and first week post op, but since then I think I have gained weight. I am doing 30 minutes of hard cardio a day, and weights. My diet consists of slimfast and soup. WHy am I gaining weight. I have not had a fill yet, and I feel no restriction, I hope it gets better.

Thanks, Iguess I just don't want to stop the momentum that I have as far as losing weight
  15. I am a week post op and now can eat blended soups and slimfast. I am 31 yrs old and lost 40 pounds in my two week pre diet and the first week post op. I have not had a fill yet, so I am not really restricted on portions, my question is, how many calories should I be limiting my self to. I am trying to limit what I eat, but I wan to be careful. Any help would be great
