  1. Thanks for reading this post everybody. To make a long story short, I had lapband surgery when I was 15 1/2 years old in 2007 everything was alright and going well for the first 8 months or so but then started to go down hill. Well after gaining weight back and having some problems as far as acid reflex and hurting sometimes when eating. I finally went to the doctors and he said that their is a minor slip. He said that if I was his son he would recommend me to get the Roux en-Y (RNY) surgery or sleeve as another option because the lapband is eventually going to have to be removed. He said because I am still young ( 20 years old )the operation to remove the lapband and have RNY would be low risk. However, he said that the choice is up to me and take a month to think/research what I want to do. So here is where I need help/support on what to do because I am just starting to research more of the RNY surgery. I wish I could start the entire surgery all over again however I probably still have the same problems. Has anybody got the lapband taken out and went to RNY or SLEEVE? If so, how did it go? Any problems? Any recommendations on what I should do?

Should I Get Lapband Removed And Do Rny Or Sleeve? Help!!

Thank you all for responding sorry it has taken a while. I was supposed to go talk to my surgeon a second time on my decision but I postponed it because I am not ready and haven't made any type of decision on to hold off or get the sleeve/Rny. I hate the thought of having a second surgery due to the unknown being 20 years old but I guess that did not stop me the first time at 15 years old. I thank you all for your advice and will keep you updated. I did not follow the lap band to the best that I should of that maybe because of being 15 years old or bouncing around places moving and not keeping up with the same surgeon. The pain is not regular but some times frustrating when eating but it seems the band is just there. Thank you again hopefully I will figure something out.

    need to get re-motivated

Since my surgery I have moved to Texas, and I have my lapband doc down here. But since I moved it has gone down hill, I am 16 years old and I am back up to probably 280, not good at all and I have lost alot of muscle because of my lack of protein. I am really disappointed in myself and can't stand to think about it. I just scheduled for another fill, I have three fills since my surgery, in 07. Hopefully this will be the start to get back on track. I am about to turn 17, and plan on seeing my family in ohio soon, but before that my main goal is to lose more weight and look better because I am ashamed to go up there looking like this because I know there going to say in their heads "what happened?" So I am doing school online, which doesnt help much but I can't go to regular school like I did in ohio because texas will make me a freshman when I am really a junior so here I am. I am about to get my GED and either 1. go to Military- This would be my dream however, I really cant for two reasons, I may not be able to go since I had my surgery and number two, is a big one for me. I AM IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM in a healthy position to go through all the physical training it would be hell for me at my weight. 2. go to college, then law enforcement career. In texas, I currently work with Arlington Polce Department Explorers, which is great. My goal is to get into law enforcement, work as a police officer then eventually gang unit and homicide detective. those are my dreams. If I can't go to the military I might go into US Border Patrol. I know I am thinking alot right now about what I want to do but the field of law enforcement is my dream. So here I am trying to get back on track. Re-motivated- Start over. And get back into shape like I was after I had my surgery. So I am asking you for your advice, and help on how I can do this better. I need motivation! Thank you! God Bless!

little bit abt me b4 surgery

Yes I am going to start working on my profile, hopefully i find something to put on it. The reason for me getting Lapband is that I am 15 years old and already have a high weight, around 325. I have been struggling with my weight since I was about 5 years old, then it started getting really bad. I want to do several things that I cant do because I am so overweight. I have missed out on a bunch of oppurtunities throughout my life. I also am going to be a Police Officer so the surgery is just a step to becoming a better police officer. I am going to do so much when I am done with surgery. I have been insecure at times and embaressed of my weight. At school I fit in the chairs but it is a tight fit, and I hate it. I am just sick of being overweight too. Both my dad and moms side of the family have weight problems too. Many members in my family have diabetes including my dad, back problems, heart attacks, shortness of breath and knee problems. So I am just trying to eliminate all or most of these health problems. I also quit football for 9th and 10th grade, because I just couldn't take all of the running and I kept getting injured. So next year I will be playing football which I absolutely love football, between the hitting and teamwork. I am soo excited to go back to football next year after my surgery.
