    Surgery Failure

I know its been awhile since you originally posted this, but, upon reading it I was very surprised that you said you're diabetic and drink apply juice (Gerber or not)! Just 1/2 cup has: 60 calories 14 carbs and 13 sugars! That's a lot of sugars for the small quantity of 1/2 cup. I did keto for a few years and that would have pushed me out of ketosis quick! I know each surgeon has their own plan, but I'm surprised yours allowed apple juice..or any juice since most are high is natural sugars. I was told absolutely no juices. I hope you've gotten it worked out!

Does anyone have a good hot Chocolate recipe??

I personally would stay away from Bariatric Pal hot cocoa... for some reason they add titanium dioxide to it, A known carcinogen!

    Looking for Easy Protein Snacks

Great ideas and sounds delicious, but what about for those who: 1. Are extremely busy to "cook from scratch" and 2. Really really despise cooking? I am one of these ppl 😖🙄 I think that's why there is the requests for snacks/recipes/ideas the OP asked about. The easiest for me is a version of Starbucks egg bites, I can make up 10 of them quickly using low fat healthy substitutes and adding whey protein in about 15 mins! There are numerous recipes out there for them which allows for different combos so they don't become tedious. They're quick, portable and full of protein and heat up nicely wherever you find a microwave!
  4. It sounds like that last doctor was on the ball! Glad it worked out for you!

Acid re-bound effect after stopping omperazole

I too didn't know I was supposed to take them that long, I just decided to quit taking them and told my doctor I wasn't taking them. He didn't seem to concerned. I'm glad you read up on them. I research everything (hazards of the profession I guess) and found far too many rotten side effects of antacids (not only on the stomach)! I wish more people researched pharmaceuticals instead of just blindly taking them because their doctor prescribed them. I've found accredited research papers/studies on meds my doctor prescribed and told my doctor about the results..he was surprised! I figure its going into my body, not the doctors its up to me to do my due diligence!

Acid re-bound effect after stopping omperazole

I should have mentioned I don't use it daily..just as needed. Plus, I consume very little sodium as it is!

Acid re-bound effect after stopping omperazole

Glad to help, I hope it works for you. I know several friends and family who were prescribed antacids but after reading up on them also switched to baking soda and haven't looked back!

Acid re-bound effect after stopping omperazole

I've read about the rebound effect, plus all the harm acid reducers cause so I took myself off them (couldn't get them down well anyway - that chalky taste was too much) at two weeks. I have a degree in chemistry/pathology and I knew its to reduce stomach "acid" and decided to utilize baking soda (a base opposed to an acid) to neutralize the acid with no rebound. Check with your doctor, look up baking soda stomach acid reduction research and see if this would work for you..but check with your doctor first since I'm not a MEDICAL doctor..

    Face & wrinkles

I worried about this too! I had my dermatologist prescribe a 1% Retain A (I have been on .5% for awhile) just to help jic. I worked in a dermatology office for years, there are things if you truly are worried that you can do besides a face lift; laser, fillers, retinoids etc...much cheaper and they work! I do agree, most ppl going through wls afterwards do look older (especially if they're older to begin with - fat hides wrinkles) but, being healthier is a far better trade off, after all we're all getting older and eventually just go gracefully and enjoy who you are..or get plastics and look like a stretched canvas!! 😉😋

    Relationships after bypass

He's showing his insecurity. I'd suggest he try counseling with possible couples counseling. I hate to say it, but if he's feeling insecure now...how will he be once you've lost all your desired weight? Maybe suggest counseling for you both...to "help you with your body image"... the counselor will see his insecurity for what it is without putting it on him 😉

    Do you have a piercing?

I've been thinking of getting a helix piercing for quite awhile, just haven't gotten around to it! I have several piercings and a small tattoo (one I haven't seen well due to weight)..not sure I want to see it after the weight loss 😆! I say do what makes you happy!

    Gastric bypass over 20 years

This! This is why when my doctor gave me a choice of sleeve or RNY I chose the RNY. Its called the "gold standard" for a reason! Plus, I have horrible luck, I didn't want to risk having to have a second surgery down the road!

    August 2023 Surgery Buddies!

Wow, you've been through a lot! I've never heard of a revision like that before, nor that they did further revisions once you had the rny! What you described is my major fear, to have the surgery then have it creep back on despite me following all the rules! Thank you for sharing, yes it is maddening..I have my 6 week next week, I plan on discussing it with them at that time!

    August 2023 Surgery Buddies!

Congrats on getting past the stall! I hope you get your "new" knees soon! I really don't understand the reason the nurse gave you tho, yes your body is/was healing, but, with minimal eating AND healing your body should be not only using what the minimal meals you're eating to heal but whatever reserves you may have i.e. fat aka weight - which usually means more weight loss not less. Sorry, just my working in healthcare along with my past physiology schooling at odds with that reason...it may be true, it just doesn't make sense to me. Maybe someone can explain it to me?!

Prior abdominal surgery and the sleeve?

I had numerous abdominal surgeries myself (7 - appendectomy, cholecystectomy, 2 C sections, hernia repair, hysterectomy and constricted intestinal tract) and I still had my RNY a month ago. Yes, there were adhesions the doctor repaired quite a few and my entire abdomen was a solid black bruise (from my breast creases all the way down past my belly button). I still a month out have bruising - but it was still worth it! I only mention the bruising because no one prepared me for that. Even the PA 3 weeks out was surprised upon seeing my abdomen being a solid black! So, hold out hope just be aware you might have bruising.

    August 2023 Surgery Buddies!

Thank you for responding! My bowel movements are daily so that isn't the issue. I've read stalls are common, but I wasn't expecting one only 3 weeks post op! May I ask, you said you checked with your doctor when you had a stall? Then you had a revision? I had a RNY, what more could they revise at that point? I'm sticking with the program..don't really have a choice even if I didn't want too...major surgery done..no going back. 😋 I know its fairly common to experience these stalls, but, it doesn't make it easier its still frustrating!

    August 2023 Surgery Buddies!

I feel your pain...the water consumption along with the waiting before and after eating makes it a chore trying to get the large amount of liquids in..especially because I'm not thirsty. I keep waiting for the intolerance to foods, the feeling of full (yes, I'm aware it takes months for the nerves to regenerate to fill "full") something that would keep me from wanting to eat other than I didn't go through all this to not lose weight. Add on top of that I've not lost any weight for 10 days - I've about had enough! Yes, I'm getting my protein in, no I'm not over eating (1/4 cup max each meal 2 meals with one high protein shake) its just stuck! I know I'm supposed to let the program work..but hey!! I'm doing my part..when does it do its part? 😋 So, yeah I feel your pain!

    August 2023 Surgery Buddies!

Your mind is craving the food, if you read through these forums you will see numerous ppl talk about mind cravings vs. actual hunger. The struggle is STILL real unfortunately for some of us 😔

    How do you curb cravings?

This is exactly what I was saying, just worded differently, but I should have left off "same weight" and stated that's the difference in weight goals tho...I knew better.
  20. Yes, .muscle weighs 7 times more than fat. How are your cloths fitting? You can lose inches without losing weight!

    How do you curb cravings?

I think your suggestions are great, although, the goal weights for the same height are probably the difference between male and females... So her goal weight is right on for her height!

    Starbucks Coffee or Latte's

Luckily for a lot of ppl coffee is a laxative! 😖 but yes, it is a dehydrate as well. I look at it this way...I've given up every other food/drink I like...I think coffee ican be one small guilty pleasure, plus it can be good for you too - or at least for those ppl around me....
