Has any one else been diagnosed with reactive hypoglycemia after bypass. Just got the diagnosis today. My blood sugar was dropping so low my symptoms made me appear drunk. It finally got to the point it went to low and I passed out. Just wondering if anyone else has gone through this and how they are doing. Thanks

Arabesque thank you, I have lost 80 pounds so far I am currently 160 the goal I was given from my doctors is 130. So I have 30 pounds left to go. I am 5’3. I know you are all right and the stall will pass. It’s just my first real stall I did not go through the 3 week stall and this stall just reminds me to much of all my diet failures. I know it’s all in my head and will pass!

Thank you both!

Anyone else told their stall was probably caused by not eating enough calories I am 6 months out from bypass and eat about 700 calories a day. Have been in a stall for 3 weeks. My surgeon said I needed to start eating more not sure how I can barely eat what I do now

I am am at the same point and I am still struggling to get to 600 calories a day. I hit a massive stall and did not lose any weight for 3 weeks. scale finally moved this week. Stalls happen your body needs a chance to recover. Stick with your doctors plan and the stall will pass.

Thanks! I was worried it was just me!On 01/16/2024 at 08:58, Victoria Wank said:
I know exactly how you’re feeling! I get the feeling of food being stuck in my stomach pouch. It’s very uncomfortable. The only thing that makes it feel better is throwing up. I’m okay with soft foods (mashed potatoes, oatmeal, Cream of Wheat, pudding, Protein shakes). The only solid food that I’m confident in eating is Ritz Toasted chips. I can stuff myself with those chips and dip and have no problems. Only recently have I been able to handle chicken, and even then, I have to be careful. Beef still gives me problems, although ground is better. I have to try the trick where you add Water to ground beef.

Is anyone else still having trouble eating real food. For the most part I am still eating soft foods. When I try to eat anything else I get that feeling of the food being stuck and end up in pain.

Yes I am surprised they told you to stop pernicious anemia does not go away and the surgery can make it worse I would ignore your surgeon and get in with your endocrinologist.

I did not have sleeve I had bypass, I have had pernicious anemia my whole adult life. I have a severe case and take shots every two weeks no change since surgery nor am I willing to risk the side effects from not taking my shots I had severe memory loss before I was diagnosed and my memories were not recoverable. B-12 your body only absorbs what you need you are better off taking a shot than not.
