How long were you out of work? I have 3 children and was actually hoping to get this surgery shortly before their winter break so I can stay home with them.

Not sure if my doc will sign off on me having 2 weeks off for FMLA.

    What was your experience?

Two weeks should be no problem. My doctor gave me 8 weeks. Disability usually covers 6 weeks for non-government workers. FMLA covers 12 weeks, but that's just to keep your job...that's not the payment part. Hope this helps. Also, FMLA paperwork is different than the Disability paperwork.

I had my RNY on Thursday morning & was discharged from the hospital today. So far, so good. I didn't experience any gas pain at all, primarily just intense ab muscle pain...but only when I move. It's definitely gotten much better since Thursday afternoon and now broadly feels like I did way too many sit ups.

I didn't have any last minute second thoughts and have zero regrets.

    Now the real work starts.

How's it going? Are you still feeling good?

I bought 2 different insurance policies to cover the surgery and both was not accepted. I'm still trying to find an actual insurance company that can provide the coverage I need. Yes I have my doctors referral for the surgery. Any recommendations or suggestions?

Have you tried Anthem Blue Cross? Also, have you done all the classes (Bariatric Orientation, Nutrition, Psych Eval & joined a support group)? Most insurance companies want you to join a Hospital-based program before giving approval.

I am pre-op but I bought a bottle carrier (small bag with strap) and plan on carrying my Water with me EVERYWHERE. I`ll be that dork with the bottle carrier, yeah....... oh well! 😆

I am pre-op too. My surgery date is 9/26. I also bought the bottle carrier which holds my water bottle, phone, compact & lipstick. My husband says I am officially an old lady now (I'm 55)....lol. I am embracing the dorkiness 🤣 and love the hands-free option. I just tried it out on my trip to Washington and it was GREAT!!

I'm new to the forums. I'm hoping to have my gastric bypass the week of September 18th. I see my surgeon in 2 days so fingers crossed. I'm going through all the emotions right now. I have a severe hiatal hernia and was only expecting to get that fixed, but after talking with my gastroenterologist and surgeon they both said the Gastric Bypass was the way to go.

I hope I'm ready for all this

A little bummed out. My date of surgery has been moved to 9/26, but I guess the extra time will help me get mentally prepared for all the changes ahead. 😊
