  1. I know exactly what you are going through. Thought I was crazy. I had my fil Jan 28th and didn't have restriction until last week right before I got another fill. Strange how that works.

    Post fill diet

I got my first fill last week and didn't have any issues. Which I am very glad for since I have heard some horror stories. My doctor said 1 week liquids, 1 week mushies, 1 week soft food, and then 1 week of regular food. Then I will get another fill and it starts over again. Strict.....

    corpus christi tx newbie

I am from the CC area as well. I live in Aransas Pass and started seeing Dr McDaniel at Citizens Bariatric but then switched Doctors because of $$ and insurance issue. I was banded Nov 24th in McAllen and have lost about 30 pounds so far and I am loving my band. This is a great website that is full of info. Good Luck to you!!!!

    Need a fill?

I was banded on 11-24-08 and am having a hard time as well getting all my water in.
  5. I had surgery on November 24th as well. I am thinking that my port is right under my left breast but low enough to where I can wear a bra. I have pain in that area and it is where my biggest scar is so I think that is where it is.
  6. I will be banded on monday November 24th and I am really starting to get nervous. I feel like a kid waiting for christmas day to get here. It is all I can think about. I am even having a hard time sleeping at night and my stomach is constantly roaring. I am very excited to start my new journey. I will post after surgery to let everyone know how things went.
  7. Yes it is very exciting! Good luck to you on your new healthy journey.
  8. Hmmm, my surgeon checks the gallbladder before surgery and if it needs to be taken out he does it at the same time as putting in the band. Might want to ask your surgeon if that is possible. That would save you from having two different surgeries. Just my two cents, doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck to you.

What do I need to do??

I was seeing a doctor locally and after approval found out they were out of network and I would have to come up with $3000 upfront. yikes! So I called my insurance and the closest in network doctor is 3 hours away. So I went to that appointment and found out that I have met my deductible and the insurance will cover 100%. So yes it is a pain for me to do the drive, but it saved me $3000. Call your insurance yourself and find out the specifics. Good luck to you.
  10. I had to do a 6 month diet as well for my insurance. I had a hard time. I actually lost a couple of pounds here and there. Then I missed my 6th appt. I went back two months later to the doctor and was the exact weight I was on my first appt. However my surgeon said lets just submit it to the insurance and see what they say. Luckily I was approved.... On my own I started to do the pre-op liquid diet to just see if I could really do it. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be either. And in one week I lost 6.5 lbs. That was drinking shakes, eating broth or cream Soups only, sf popsicles and sf Jello. Drink Water or propel fitness water. Then eating low carb meal for dinner. So maybe you should try it, it won't hurt you and you will definitely lose. Good luck to you.
  11. Finally after a year of jumping through hoops for my insurance company, they have approved my surgery and I am excited to say I will be banded November 17! I was seeing a doctor locally that was out of network and they said that they could ask the insurance company to let them use in network benefits. The day I got my approval, they said no they couldn't use in network benefits and I would have to pay $3,000 out of my pocket. Ouch!! So the closest in network doctor was 3 hours away. So I went to see him and he scheduled my surgery for the 17th of this month. AND since I am using an in network doctor, the insurance will pay 100% of the surgery. The only bad thing is I will have to make that drive each time I need to see him. But I am glad I didn't have to get a loan or anything, especially right before Christmas.
  12. I have been working with a Doctor locally which was an out of network doctor trying to get banded for almost a year. I had to do the 6 month diet thing, completed that. Then my doctor sent paperwork in to insurance and while I was waiting for approval, I was calling trying to find out how much $$ I would have to come up with before surgery. They told me today I was APPROVED and would have to come up with $3000 for surgery with the out of network doctor:eek:. The closest in network doctor I found is three hours away.. I called my insurance and asked what I would have to pay if I used an in network doctor, and they said after I meet my deductible it would be covered 100%. So I have met my deductible already so I am guessing I don't have to pay anything out of pocket. I have an appointment tomorrow with the in network doctor, but they will have to resend in all the paperwork and get approval themselves..I am wondering if this process will be quick because it was already approved by another doctor, or what? Has anyone else experienced this? Just wondering what to expect. And also wondering if it would be worth it to drive the 3 hours and pay nothing or stay locally and struggle to come up with $3000, which I do not have? Would appreciate your insight. Thanks and can't wait until surgery....
  13. Just wondering if anyone used a Dr reyes in McAllen Texas? I have an appointment with him tomorrow.

    Medically Supervised Diet

This makes me feel good that I was not the only person who did not lose on the 6 month supervised diet. Well Actually I did lose a few pounds and then by my last month I had gained to be the exact weight I had started. I am embarrassed and wondering what the Bariatric Doctor must think, "Does she really want to lose weight." So they submitted to my insurance last week and I am waiting approval. My fingers are crossed....

    You will not believe this

That sucks. I know how you feel. I am still waiting on insurance approval but I think with insurance approval I still have to come up with $3000. Ouch. I don't have that kind of money, especially right before Christmas.
