  1. I assume everyone on here has battled to lose weight for a long time and has tried multiple stratagies and diets. Along the way we all have an endless supply of life coaches that want to tell you what to do or how you are doing it wrong, if you asked them or not. My question is this. What was the one statement or piece of advice that stuck with you and one that was dumb as hell? I'll go first. GOOD: "Every food choice you make is either healing your body or poisoning it. Every movement choice you make is either helping your body or rusting it." (Dude that was very in shape, 2004). BAD: "You can eat whatever you want as long as you stop eating at 4pm for the day" (Guy that called in sick atleast once a week, 2016) What still sticks with you?
  2. Does anyone have any recomendations for baby foods? going into week 2 and would like to find some meat and veggie babyfoods that are not horrible to eat. I am focused on the idea of "food is fuel" so it doesnt have to be the best flavor ever but If anyone has suggestions on what they liked that would be great.

I will try the bbq. I am not planning on living off baby food. just looking for an alternative to having to run the Ninja for every meal. THanks for the tip!

    JUNE SURGERY BUDDIES

I had that while in the hospital. I had them review all of my old visits because I always have a heart rate over 100. Mine was 115 after the surgery and the lowest it got was like 105. Hope it goes well for you.

Im no spring chicken (51) but the age can't help. I got a feeling you and I will be kicking ourselves for not doing this years ago.

The line that stuck with you...

I've heard that but not to me. People don't tend to say things to me. (I look like a biker who may or may not kill you). Close to that are people telling me I'm not fat enough to get it. I am 12 years type 2 diabetic. I had my surgery 3 days ago and my diabetes have went out the window. Have not used insulin since. There are more reasons to have it than being "fat enough".

    JUNE SURGERY BUDDIES

So I had my surgery on Monday (3 days ago) and I have like no real pain. I totally had planned for this to be worse. Im sure it is different for everyone but have other people felt this way? Like right now i can pretty much do everything I did before the surgery. Im intentionally not lifting anything over 10 pounds but outside of that im still cleaning house and walking miles every day. Yesterday I did it twice. Anyone else have this happen?

    Stalling after 12 days ?

My biggest advice and coming from someone who avoided the doctor for years is get on the phone with your health team and communicate with them. They know your situation better than anyone on here (unless they are on here watching you, bunch of creeps) SO just stay open with communications. And #Hop_Scotch is right, that does seem to be a lot of weight fast. You got this!!! You will win!!!

    Bullying post op

So I have always been a big kid since maybe the 4th grade but I was never huge. I can still remember every fat comment that my friends said. I can honestly tell you I dont remember what people I didnt know said. But people I care about I remember them all. Honestly, my worst bully would have been my dad. Quick story. I use to be a gym rat power lifter in my yournger days and learned everything I could about building muscle mass. I guress since i was never going to be skinny I was going to be strong. Flash forward 25 years or so (I am 51) and my dad asked someone about how the best way to build muscles in his arms, The guy he was talking to was just naturally big. didnt work out to get that way and he was telling my dad some pretty basic useless info. So I started to talk about techniques for building muscle and my old man cut me off and told me if he needed info on how to eat big macs he would ask me. Long story short, you cant control what other people do. Just know when people say crappy things its more of a reflection on their own insecurities and weakness. Also, the internet has made a culture of being able to say mean stuff without getting punched in the face. Im guessing most of these comments comes with the a hole having space and an exit plan. My favorite thing to do when people are like that is to get nose to nose when you can and ask them to repeat it. I have never one time done this and had them not back down. May be a little afressive on my part but I just hate this no accountability for running your mouth society we have created. Outside of that you just have to let it go as someone who didnt get any love as a child trying to get attention. In short, screw that moron.

    JUNE SURGERY BUDDIES

Had my surgery at OSU hospital in Columbus yesterday and am home today. It was painful when I first came out but by the second day it was better. THe biggset thing i can tell you is to get up as soon as you can and walk down the halls. It will help overall. I found laying for a long period seem to make it worse. Good luck to those who still have it coming!
  13. I feel like its a death row question and I am aware that we get to eat again so that is not what this is about. Just for fun what was your "LAST MEAL" before starting the liver shrinking pre op diet? Ill go first. I had a Memorial day weeked where I smoked pork and a beef brisket on Saturday. Then my actual last meal was a Cajun style seafood boil with crab legs, crawdads, shrimp, corn and potatoes. Also had sea scallops just not done in the boil. it was done in a spicy cajun seasoning and was amazing. This morning was a coffee flavored protein drink.
  14. I was wondering if anyone took up running after surgery. I dream of being able to do long distance running, joining a running club, and not dying in the process. If so, how did you go about building your stamina? How do you fuel yourself during a run? Something I found interesting is when serching this subject I only found 1 case study from like 2014 and it was about 1 runner. SO not a ton of information out there on this subject.

Anyone take up running after surgery???

Hey new best friend!!! If you don't mind me asking how long did it take for you to hit running the whole 5k? I use to be a bit athletic and i was working on running last year but the extra weight just got me discouraged. I had to look up GU's. You don't have issues with the sugars causing issues with your stomach?
  16. @omrhsn Good topic by the way. Can have a little fun while talking about real issues. Thanks

    JUNE SURGERY BUDDIES

Hey I am right there with you. Day three and I have considered eating my dogs at this point. As dumb as it sounds getting on here and reading about everyone else's suffering really seems to help. Partially because I am an A-hole but also to see that we are not alone. I have noticed today seems better so far as I am getting use to it. My wife also suffers from my condition (A-hole) and brought a bunch of chips and junk food in the house the first day. She also wanted hotdogs and crap for dinner last night (I do all cooking) so I made them that before eating my cabbage soup with a nasty protein drink (Root Beer Float sucks). Dependant on what she wants for dinner tonight I may have to let the dog lick it first! So I guess being petty is my coping mechanism.
  18. My surgery is not until the 12th but I have plenty of bad habits before. 1. Boredom eating is my biggest issue. 2. Using food to show love. My family has never been the "I love you" type so I grew up on food celebration and over endulgence to make up for the lack of affection. My mom would give me entire banana cream pies as my breakfast when I was little. Now I do the same. When anyone comes over I make a huge dinner with enough to eat on for 2 days. 3. Making jokes about me being fat before anyone else can. It's my super shield. 4. Going through depressive states where I won't eat for days but then also going thru them where its all I want to do. 5. Having a fear that after surgery I will gain my weight back. 6. Wearing sweatpants and black shirts everyday (literally wearing that right now). 7. Blaming my farts on the dog. 8. Having to not carry cash so I can't sneak thru the drive thru without my wife knowing. I could do this all night but I think this list will do.
  19. @Turch I'm on day 2 as well. I feel weak but everything I read says it is normal. I love me some protein shakes
  20. @BabySpoons I didn't have to lose any before the liver shrinking diet so I ate pretty normal. It's funny I have people give me crap for having this surgery because "I'm not THAT big". people don't realize there is more to it then size. I have been diabetic for 12 years and 8 would like to stop taking all the medication that will eventually destroy my kidneys. Great to hear you are keeping strong. Will only help in the long run.

    JUNE SURGERY BUDDIES

I started my 2 week liver shrinking diet today. I also have my pre-op doc visit today. Surgery is on June 12 at OSU hospital in Columbus OH. So the wierd thing is I'm not overly excited or worried or really anything. I keep thinking I will get to that point but it has not hit yet.
