    Why??????

Wow. As someone who has recovered from trying to commit suicide (been "clean" for three months) that comment really hurts. This man obviously had issues that were not addressed before he went on his rampage. I don't want to sound mean, but did his family ever commit him or brought up the fact he needs help? They may have not but , I can see why he did it (I wouldn't do this and I'm not saying what he did was right. But I can see where that desperation might lead to). Losing a job piles on so much depression, especially if you're a guy, because of wanting to be the bread winner (this is my opinion). You really shouldn't say to people: "Hey,you want die? Fine, I don't care." because if someone told me that three months ago, I wouldn't be here. Depression can do really stupid things to peoples' minds.

Thanks LJM! Lots of luck to you!

    six months...

I might as well start by saying that I need (and want) the band. But since I've talked to my insurance and they couldn't tell their butts from a hole in the ground, regarding a six month diet, I thought I might as well start it right now. I have joined weight watchers and will tell my doctor and my shrink the next time I see them and I'm also keeping records (I'm just doing the online thing) and hopefully they will say, "Aww, you don't need a six month diet!" Hopefully you'll accept me into your little group! I'll be here for a long time!! See ya soon, JRG

    Now I'm on track!

YAY! I got an appointment at UofI for seeing what I need to do in order for me to get the lapband. It's on the 13th, so I'm freaking happy! And it's at 2:45. (I'm posting this, because I have a horrible memory when I have appointments, I might as well post it where I'll see it). Wish me luck! JRG

Hey everyone, Thank you so much for your comments! (I have to thank everyone individually who commented because I'm cool like that:tt2:)*HUGS* to everyone Plain: Yup. It sucks big time. At least I found this website to help. And hey: strawberry Alarm Clock rules! If anyone thinks that "Incense and Peppermints" song is not the best (especially when you have NyQuil in your system and your ears feel stuffed up), then they should be shot on site. Just my opinion.:crying: Michee: Hey, at least you knew those people would respond that way. I thought everyone would be supportive because I'm improving my health. Man, was I naive (I know I'm going to get comments saying: "People aren't all like that".) MacMadame: DUDE! Those links are awesome. I read only a few since I have midterm coming up, but wow. I sorta feel better better now. I'm forwarding these links to my mom. Thank you soooo much! *HUGS* Sunwyse: You totally made me feel empowered. Thanks. Jack: Thank you so much for your insight sir. I feel like a baby when you pulled "Kennedy Administration" on me. But great job! Honestly, it felt as though it's hopeless, but you've inspired me. If you can get back into a belt waay back in 1967, then christ on a cracker, I can do something that amazing too! Like, fitting into a single digit pants size. I know I have Dragons to face on this journey and if this is the type of roadblocks I'll be facing (but I know there'll be plenty more), heck bring it on! FairyFacade: It's nice to know that someone knows what you are going through. It's suprising that your 'rents didn't mind the idea. Hope mine will be like that...someday. Thanks for telling me I'm not alone. It helped. *HUGS* Excarolinagirl: Ditto. Hey, good luck to you too. Froggi: Yeah, I have a great support system here. At least you tell it like it is. They are "thick headed", but they aren't stupid; they just don't want to open up their minds (that's just my opinion). Thanks and I hope you get approved and get a date! Lots o' luck! Thanks again everyone. I know this is a loooong post, so, sorry about that. Good luck on your weight loss journey and keep it up! Wii Fit?

Yup. You can get it on amazon. Here's the link: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Dance-Revolution-Hottest-Bundle-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B000PMGN2M/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1223181631&sr=8-2]Amazon.com: Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party Bundle: Video Games[/ame]

    Wii Fit?

Ehh. I have a wii fit but as much as I like it, it's a little too slow for me. If you really want a work out, try Dance Dance Revolution: The Hottest Party. I just got it on Tuesday and I had so much fun with it. Wii Fit Pros: *scale *BMI *measures your progress *really good balance games *good light aerobic exercises *good yoga and strength exercises Cons: *not a real workout *can only do one game at a time *have to go though too many screens *they have way too much stuff on posture Honestly, if I had to do all over again, I wouldn't have bought it. But that's just my opinion.

Are others in your family overweight/obese?

I was overweight since I was little. My mom has overweight sibs on her side and they are all apple shape, except my mom who's pear shape. My dad's family varies. I have some really skinny cousins, but all of my aunts are a little pudgy. I think the fat gene has an awful lot to do with my weight, but I helped it along as well. I just think that as much as there is a gene, there is a pattern of eating gene; my mom and I love sweets and my dad and I love carbs (yeah, the worst of both worlds). :crying: How your parents eat is how you eat.

    six months...

I just have this thing in forums (even in society) that somehow, I'm always in the wrong place. Like, people don't want me there. But, that's all in my head (I'm getting treatment for that, so it's not as bad as it was). Thanks LJM and Froggi for welcoming me!:crying: I also lost 4 lbs so far, so it's not bad! Hey, good luck on insurance and your future surgery!

HELLO CLEAVLAND! So I have a question for all you wonderful people out there: does anyone work in a Union (I'm asking 'cause I'm under my dad's insurance, NECA IBEW local 134) AND has Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO? I'm super scared that I'll be denied because I'm just a dependent. Also, does being in Weight Watcher (currently) help with the six month diet? I would ask this in insurance, but I tried and didn't get a response. So since everyone looks and posts on here, maybe someone could answer. PJTP: Yeah, I'm super happy because I just kicked some Dance Dance Revolution butt!! And I'm writing a paper and it's probably the best thesis I wrote in...forever!

60 degrees and you break out the coats???:cursing: I'm not making fun; I just find it odd. I was outside yesterday in capris and flipflops with my hoodie on and it was fine to me...at 63 degrees. I'm from Chicago and I love winter, so the cold doesn't bother me. If I had to choose between being cold all the time or warm all the time, I'd rather be cold (but there has to be snow on the ground!). PJTP: 6 more days till the seminar! *HAPPY DANCE* I really hope I don't have problems with the people, cause if I do there is going to be trouble:fish:

So if I start now, I won't have to do it as long! *GO ME* NEWS: I love my Cymbalta! I had a terrible day yesterday but I feel so much better today!

Oh my god...I love you!:tongue2: I spend most of my money on two things: Books and music. If I had to go to school naked for a day just for a book shopping spree, I'd do it.

THANK GOODNESS! Plain: If you ever hear me talk to my friends, I say things that actually makes them blush. I'm so socially awkward and I say so many inappropriate things, I'm surprised I'm not arrested for public indecency of language. FYI: Your name is an anagram of Palin; just thought I should let you know.

Alright, I've had enough! I have to go to a different seminar for UofI because I tried to call that doctor my PCP recommended and it blew up in my face!:mad::mad3::mad5: Yeah, in case you missed it...I'M PISSED!!!!!!!!!! I called and I got hung up on, called again and I was transfered to a person who obviously didn't know what she was doing and then I called again and I was yelled at over the phone because I wanted to meet with the surgeon privately. Here is the conversation: Me: :crying: Phone person:  :w00t:: I would like to make an appointment for Dr. *What's his name*: Is this for bariatric surgery ? :tt2:: This is for a private matter that I would like to discuss with the surgeon.: Ma'am, you have to tell me if this is for bariatric surgery.: No I don't. That is a private matter. Even my doctor says so. You can't ask me that.: Is it for bariatric surgery? :cursing:: I said I won't answer that because that's against the law and also doctors' law of ethics! I just want to schedule a meeting with the surgeon.: Miss, don't tell me my job. Just say yes or no. :cursing:: I will tell you your job because I just want to see the surgeon. I'm not going to anwser because you just put people through the mill. I just want to see the surgeon for a private matter, that is it.: ... :cursing:: I shouldn't have to explain why I need to see the surgeon because he is a regular surgeon who specializes in bariatric surgery. I should be able to see him like any other surgeon.: The earliest appointment we have is in January. :cursing:: WHAT???: But...if you say that you need bariatric surgery, you can see him sooner than that, but you have to go through evaluations. I'll transfer you :cursing:: Wait, wait... *transfers me to that stupid person who never called me back and likes to play hard to get* :cursing:: F*ck this Sh*t ~~~~~~~******** Yeah, not happy.

    2nd thoughts

Wow! You're three inches taller than me and same weight as me *GRR you and your tallness!* I think that you need to do this for yourself. I mean, when you feel good, other people feel good too. I kind of know how you feel because my 'rents don't want me to have the surgery and the relatives I've talked to, think I'm fine. I'm in your position: not "oh my god" bad looking, but bad enough to feel bad about myself and it has SUCH an impact on my self-esteem, that it's not funny. I think (but don't know your family, so just speculating) that since your daughter is so young, she might get over it pretty quickly. Besides she might like it if her mommy can run really fast after her to play tag! In all honesty, just try to think of what would be best for you because how you feel matters; your mental health is just as important as your physical health, if not more. So if you need the surgery done because you are "obese" and your self image is in tatters, go for it! Most people will warm up to you losing weight. Good luck! Sorry for the long post! JRG

My Firstborn Furbaby went to Heaven

Lisa, I'm crying right now! Your Milo was beautiful and he looked like he had a wonderful mommy. It's tough getting over the loss of a pet, but I do believe they ARE waiting for you in heaven. Take care of yourself right now and remember that he's in a better place (even though you just want him in your arms!:rolleyes2:). *HUGS* Katie Group hug for Lisa!
