Sleeveme_Please got a reaction from NettyD in September 2023 Surgery buddies
I had the sleeve on the 5th and I too began to second guess my decision up until the night before surgery. I did have an extended hospital stay due to nausea and my heart rate being too low for a couple of days post op. Other than that recovery is going well. You just have to remember to take it easy and listen to your body. I had my first follow up visit yesterday and my surgeon said I am healing well. The hardest part has been making sure to drink as much as possible. Good luck with upcoming surgery 🙂

Yesterday was the first day of my liquid diet and boy oh boy... I knew it was going to be intense, but I hadn't realized how fierce the hunger pains would be. Good luck to those who have had their surgeries, I can't wait to join you guys on the losers bench! And to those on the liquid diet with me currently, we've got this!

Was sleeved 9/5 and was discharged 9/8. I was kept for observation due to pain, nausea, and low heart rate. The gas pain was no fun, that has subsided and now it’s just abdominal/incision pain. The hardest part is making sure I’m getting in Protein and fluids. I found a Premier Protein peaches and cream shake that I love. Most smells turn my stomach but this doesn’t. Has anyone been experiencing dizziness during recovery?

Surgery was yesterday and the gas pain has been terrible. I saw someone mention that walking around is the best and I agree. Movement has definitely helped. Make sure that you ask for pain relief when you need it and try to drink when you can

Pre op diet started today and it hasn’t been too bad. I just make sure I keep drinking or grab some Jello or a sugar free popsicle when I feel thoughts of food creeping in. My dinner consisted of 1 cup of green Beans and 2 oz of chicken breast and it was actually pretty filling. 13 more days to go 🙂

Sleeveme_Please got a reaction from Arabesque in September
I have a surgery date of September 5th. I had my first visit with my surgeon in March. I completed most of my requirements in May and only needed to do my support group. My insurance doesn’t require a set number of visits. It’s surreal that this has moved so quickly. Good luck

Sleeveme_Please got a reaction from FlowerGirl44 in How Much Out of Pocket?
I’m still in preop phase but 0 out of pocket expenses for me since I met my insurance out of pocket cost of 3000 earlier this year. Even if I had to pay the 3000 it would have been worth it in my opinion

Sleeveme_Please reacted to SleeveToBypass2023 in SURGERY DAY!!!!
Well, today is the day. SURGERY DAY. It's more complicated than when I had the gastric sleeve because not only are they doing a revision from sleeve to bypass, they are removing my entire lower and mid stomach (the part that is bypassed) because that's where all my polyps develop.
It's a 2 hour surgery, and I was told I'll be in recovery for about an hour after. It's like having 2 bariatric surgeries in 1, so the recovery/healing/down time will be worse than my original surgery.
I'll be in the hospital for 2 nights, so I'll be home sometime on Friday the 30th. That sucks, and is really annoying (I hate hospitals) but I know it's necessary and will be worth it.
I can't wait to get my life back. Working out, feeling good, no more in and out of the hospital, being ME again. This has been a looooong road, but I'm finally almost at the finish line. It's gonna be awesome when I hit my weight loss goal (I'm 70 pounds away and speaking it into existence now that THIS TIME NEXT YEAR I will be at my goal weight).
So wish me luck, and I'll see ya'll on the flip side

I just got a call from my surgeon's Nurse. The issue that postponed my surgery with the autoimmune treatment has been cleared up, I have my original 4/12 surgery date back.
So I will enjoy some chicken wings tonight & tomorrow starts the liquid pre-op diet!

Congratulations on the weight loss and I can understand how this can be frustrating. I have lupus and I am in the pre op stage. I do not receive any infusion treatments. I hope that your surgery will only delay you for a month or so.

Hello everyone! I’m new here. I’m 41 and I’ve been struggling with my weight for about 10 years now. I looked into getting the sleeve January 2022 when I was at my highest weight of 260 lbs. I decided that I would try to lose on my own and would revisit the idea of surgery if I was unsuccessful. In that year I managed to lose 20 lbs. This January I started researching again because I am determined to get back to a healthy weight. I went through an online seminar and decided to make my consultation appointment after I was diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri and was told that weight loss can help alleviate the symptoms and I can stop taking the medication that I am taking for it. I have a host of other health issues and I’m hoping the weight loss can help me feel better physically. I had my consultation a week ago and my appointments with the nutritionist and physical therapist have been scheduled and I completed my initial bloodwork. I do not have to complete a medically supervised weight loss program and I spoke with my insurance company and was notified that the most I’ll need to pay out of pocket is $1300. I’m excited and nervous about what’s to come.
