  1. I have a "Thinner" scale. I have had it for about 3 years now and it is very accurate with my physician's office. It measures down to the 10th. It does not talk, but if it said any of the things those other scales said, I would definitely throw it out the window.

    I'm new too!

Hi and welcome to LBT! I understand that fighting with the insurance companies can be very challenging and I wish you luck with that. I knew my insurance company wouldn't pay, so we refinanced the house and I went self pay.

    Self pay, how much?

I had my surgery done at St. Vincent's in Jacksonville, Fl. The total cost was $16,500.00 for everything, including one year of fills and follow-up.
  5. Wow, you look gorgeous and like you are having a blast. Congrats. :biggrin1:

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

It is so inspiring to read these posts from those of you that have lost close to or over 100 pounds. I am only just beginning my journey, but someday, I too will come to this thread and say I lost over 100.

    A very embarrassing problem

I did not go for 2 weeks after my surgery. I read through some previous posts on here and went to the drug store and got some good ol' milk of magnesia. I took one dose before going to bed and the next morning things were moving again.
  9. I second the clothing exchange forum!!!!!

    How long til regular food?

:biggrin1: Hee hee, Susan, your comment about eating the legs off the table reminded me of something that got me laughing. We have 3 dogs, one of them is a long-haired auburn colored doxy that is a bit overweight. I did liquids only for 3 weeks prior to my surgery and 10 days afterwards. On about day 8 post-op I commented to my daughter that I was starting to have hallucinations that his legs were turkey legs and they were looking mighty good. For some reason, after that she felt the need to keep him away from me until I went on real food.

    Port Pain?

I had my band on April 28th and was very concious of my port for the first couple of weeks. As you mentioned, if I bent in a certain way, or when I laid down I felt it. However, at 4 weeks out I no longer feel it or have any awareness of it at all. I had mentioned this in a previous post and a veteran bandster mentioned it having to do with the fact that they sew the port into your muscle and it just takes time to heal.
  12. I already hate my boobs, lol. But for different reasons. When I was only 18 I weighed about 140 and had to have my bras special made because my boobs were so big. I had reduction surgery which resulted in complete loss of sensation and major scarring with keloiding (don't fear, that was 20 years ago and most people that have reduction surgery now do not have those kind of problems). My plan is to lose my weight and have a complete body make over....apron removal, tummy tuck, excess skin on arms, and a boob job. I am tired of laying down and having the girls lay down on each side of me. I want the scars reduced and to have them stand up on their own again. Was that too much information????
  13. I really have a tough time with plain water. I drink about 8ozs of straight water a day and 64oz of crystal light. Does that count as my water? I hope so.

    Well...I did it...

Congratulations on getting your band, it sounds like everything went very smoothly for you. I know my stomach made so many weird noises those first few days after my surgery, I think my family was a little afraid. And they should have been, because it was gas, lol.

    How long til regular food?

What is really important is that you follow your own personal physician's orders. You will see, that every doctor seems to have a different pre-op and post-op diet plan. However, you are paying him to take care of you, and he will tell you what is best for you. I have followed my doctor's orders and have had no problems whatsoever.

    How long til regular food?

I was on liquids until my post-op visit, which was 10 days. Then I went to mushies for a week and regular food after that.

    Please Help!

Hi and welcome to LBT! It is perfectly understandable that you are nervous and scared. Whenever one faces any type of surgery, you are naturally going to have some apprehension about it. However, the more informed you are, the less nervous you will be. Prior to my surgery, I poured through all the threads and posts here on LBT. I learned everything I could and also found a couple of posters who used the same surgeon I did. I posted a lot, and sent pm's to those who had my surgeon. I am sure you will find that everyone here is very helpful and willing to help alleviate any of your concerns and answer all your questions. Best of luck to you.

    Hello... I'm new

:grouphug: Welcome to our little corner of the web! If you are still in the researching process, then you have come to a great site to learn about the band. I spent about two weeks just reading through ALL the forums and learning everything I could about the band so I would make an informed decision. Also make sure you attend a seminar about the band. And, of course, don't be afraid to ask questions.

    Embarrassing NSV

Awww, Kat, that is hysterical. So, the paperclips held ok? I am making a mental note to buy some safety pins next time I go to the store and keep them with me at all times. I wish my pants were falling down.

    Where to put the port?

:cake: Lol, I love your posts Jack, but what in the heck is "xiphoid process" and where is the "mid-clavicular line." My port is just below my braline on the right side. The first couple of weeks it really bothered me, but now that everything is healed, I don't even notice it.

    American Idol

I thought last nights show was great and was also shocked by all the big names they have. I love Meatloaf, and was so excited when they announced he was singing with Kat. But. wow, was he ill or what? He was shaky and sounded awful. I actually felt bad for Kat. I felt bad for him too because she outshined him by a mile.
