Funny Restaurant Experience
*susan* replied to jandseakin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I always get a kick out of how concerned the wait staff are because I eat so little of my meal and want the rest to go. They always think there is something wrong and I have often had them even send the manager out to see if something was wrong. -
At four years out, it is easy for me to get off track. I was really having problems at the beginning of the year. For some reason, between 3-6 pm I want to snack on nothing but junk. So, I set myself up a reminder on my phone for everyday at 3:00. Then I posted a picture of myself at nearly 300 pounds and again at 150. My reminder everyday that comes up on my phone says simply, "what is your motivation, look at it, remember it, achieve it." Then, if I need to, I pull up that picture. I know it's all mental, but it really helps me.

Omar told me you are doing really well, I am so happy for you. I wanted to call you, but was afraid I might wake you if you are resting. We will talk soon! -
Knock it off, now. You are breaking forum rules, being disrespectful, and quite honestly, acting like children.

Actually, we do have quite a few men and women complain to us about this. There is only one area of the entire forum that is restricted to woman only, and one area that is restricted to men only. This is so members may discuss gender specific issues with each other, without the fear of a member of the opposite sex coming in and embarrassing them, turning it into a joke (as we have seen happen quite often), etc. Therefore, we do ask that our members respect our rule that the Powder Room is for woman only, and the Men's Room is for men only. We do our best to enforce this, but cannot be everywhere at once, and count on our members to let us know when other members are in violation of this.

I believe anyone who has taken this thread off topic to make it a personal argument between themselves and another member should truly be ashamed. From this point forward, if you are here to offer support to the OP, please do so. If you disagree with something another member has posted, then take it to PM. Nobody wants to see your personal arguments here, it is incredibly disrespectful to the OP who has shared something very personal and very tragic in her life. She doesn't need the further stress of people fighting with each other. Please note, I will not hesitate to ban members for not following our forum rules. Thank you.

The Illan is in there, just to long of a name for the display. If people search, it will come up. -

How does after care work in Mexico?
*susan* replied to cdunn's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Generally, it is assumed if you have some type of problem/complication it is something you will need to take care of fairly quickly, as opposed to waiting until you can book a flight and fly to Mexico. That is why most of the surgeons release you with a full copy of your labs, EKG, chest x-rays, swallow test video, etc., so you have them in the rare event that a complication arises. -

My poor experience with A Lighter Me
*susan* replied to dawndenise's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
This site is founded and ran by Alex Brecher. He founded all of the WLS Boards sites after having lap band surgery years ago when there were no other such sites and he wanted a place to communicate with others who had also had the same surgery. He is not an employee of any doctors or companies. He did, however, also start MySurgeryOptions.com recently. -
I flew from San Diego to Florida, and really had no problems. When I boarded the flight, I let the attendant knew I had just had surgery and she was very attentive to my needs. I was on a very long flight, and they were even willing to heat up the broth I brought with me on the plane. I would suggest a small pillow to place between your tummy and the seat belt. Someone recommended that to me, and it really worked well for alleviating the pressure of the seat belt on my incisions, and since I had told the flight attendant I had surgery, she was very accommodating about it.
