    Pain relief

Hi there! I live in the UK and i understand a lot of people on here are from america but im hoping i can google the equivalent here. So im a year post gastric bypass and had a lower wisdom tooth removed friday and came across the problem of not being able to take ibuprofen, ive been taking paracetamol (actually taking anadin extra before learning we arent supposed to have aspirin either! Oops) and rubbing ibuprofen gel on my jaw but its made me wonder, what the heck do we take for swelling and inflammation now?? Im going to ice my jaw because its still slightly swollen but im curious about the future and painkillers Sam
  4. Hello everyone! I'm just over 3 months out of my gastric bypass surgery and I'm struggling A LOT with belching and it's constant all day every day, if its an especially bad day it makes me end up heaving and trying to be sick (cant vomit since surgery, just plenty of dry heaving) I'm also still having bad diarrhea every day and have basically every day since the surgery, dieticians say dumping but even when I was just on liquids or hardly eating its the same result! I've done a stool sample and no bugs to be found. I have been meaning to increase my fibre but I haven't actually done it yet because I've been fairly poorly either liver problems at the same time and I'm trying to get back on track Any advice would be really appreciated Sam
  5. So I'll be 6 weeks post op on Sunday (bypass) and I still feel awful and I wish I hadn't spent every penny I own doing this to myself! I feel sick every day nearly all day and it's better lying down but how am I supposed to work or make dinner when activity makes me feel really sick and my family comment that I even lose all my colour in my face when I have to go lie down Food is just...rubbish? Nothing tastes great anymore and I don't feel like eating anything and even then the weight loss has slowed dramatically i managed to lose 1 pound in a week of barely eating, I'm constantly burping as well (as soon as I woke up today) I still have an upset stomach nearly every day, ive been pretty good about actually being sick and although I constantly feel it I've only got to retching 4 times (can anyone else not vomit even when your retching and gagging?!) I guess I'm just feeling low and upset and wondering if I'll ever feel human again, apologies for the bad attitude I'm crying even doing this and I just hate how I feel. I guess I thought I'd be feeling better by now Sam
  6. Hello apologies for the unsavory topic! I'm waiting to hear back from my surgical advice but wanted to ask here because people are so helpful, I'll be 3 weeks post op this sunday and every day since the surgery I've had bad diarrhea (as in complete liquid and orange) apologies tmi I know Has anyone else had this? I'm struggling because it makes me feel nauseous all day nearly and I know it's only a matter of time before I need to go and sit on the throne again, I lie down after and about 20 minutes later I dont feel so awful Surgery advice said they would expect it to be dumping syndrome but I haven't had sugars because they taste foul at the minute and I'm hardly eating or drinking either and it's been every flipping day now! I know it must clear up but it's making it so all I'm doing is lying down and feeling like I made a stupid decision Thanks in advance! Sam
  7. Thanks so much everyone! I dont feel so alone or stupid now, I don't know how people drink some of the stuff! Some fab ideas and I really appreciate it
  8. hello! so i'm 2 weeks post gastric bypass at the moment and I've discovered that I cannot stand protein powders (tried multiple) so I'm panicking now because protein is going to be such a huge part of my life basically forever and I'm stuck on what to do, when I can start eating normally I love chicken so I can eat protein no problem but im 100% sure I'm not going to be getting enough and everyone uses protein shakes or drinks/yogurts and I just can't stand them I've been looking at protein supplements and you barely get 1 gram of protein per tablet so that's not viable like I was hoping unless I take 40 a day. I should of thought about the protein shake problem more but I was just concerned with 'get the surgery and get healthy' and now I'm left wondering what I'm supposed to do any advice would be greatly appreciated, im feeling like a grade A idiot at the moment sam
