8 Month Anniversary, How's everyone doing?

I havent been on this forum in a long time, but want to congratulate everyone. I started @ 281 and now have been @ 190-195 for the last 6-8 weeks. It can be frustrating, but then I think about how I was before. I did pig out during the holidays and know that I have done better, but have to remember this is a lifestyle change. Good luck to everyone...in a few months we can all say "what a year it has been"

  5. I am sorry for taking a while to respond. I am not on here like I used to. I was banded March 18th and so far I have lost 81lbs. I am not sure what I can tell you about my experience except I was nervous and waited 8 long months before I had the surgery. I am happy and the only complications I seem to have are simple and due to my error, losing hair - as a result of not taking vitamins, constipation-not drining enough water...but wouldnt change it for anything in the world. Contact me anytime if you need or just want to chat... Once again accept my apologies for taking so long to reply

  8. I had my band surgery on the 18th of March. I am really happy that I have lost weight and overcome some health issues I had. I can now wear normal clothes and no longer have to visit the plus size section. While I am thrilled with my weight loss I really miss eating certain food. I go to a University that is surrounded around good food. I can not eat bread nor hamburgers and really miss eating them. I know that I should be happy and forever forget about burgers but just wonder if others have that emotional sadness of not having certain foods. Wondering are there others who feel the same way

Missing food, but not the weight

I cant eat the bread and that's whats devastating... I usually don't deprive myself, its just wanting what I can no longer have like Steak... my band wont allow it!
  10. Pezo, Thanks so much for the suggestion. I just had an unfil where they took out some liquid after going through the same feeling. I will see if it works should it happen again!

    Can everyone PLEASE post

I almost 6 months out as I was banded on March 18th. I have lost a total of 71lbs so far and hadnt realized how much I lost until I tried on a size L dress I got from Target. Their clothes have always been so tight to me. I always told my husband that the clothes there ran small... Well to my surprise this morning the dress fits just right. I know that sometimes we get discouraged and dont lose what we want to lose, but I want to remind everyone that even 5lbs lost is making us healthier. Everyone keep up the good work! We can and will succeed at our weightloss goals whether its a year from now or three. Congratulations once again to everyone for making a life changing decision.

Having problems and don't know what to do?

I am not sure what you are doing now but try drinking 80 oz of water or more per day. It seemed to help me get back on track a few weeks ago. Also try taking multi-vitamins. I hope this helps!

    How is everyone doing???

Hey Fab by 50, I had my 3rd fill today and felt the restriction right away. To date I have lost 47 lbs and was told by my surgeon today that I could well be under 200 lbs by the end of summer, so that was great news. I started @ 281 and to finally be in the 1's would be awesome. I too am happy I had the surgery!
  19. Hello All, I am just about 3 months post op from my surgery. I have lost about 46 pounds and go in for fill #3 on Wednesday. I definately fill so much healthier but like everyone who knows that feeling I really want a baby. My fiance says it is up to me when I am ready but I know my surgeon has suggested I wait a year. I am 32 and anxious to have a bundle of joy... any advice would definately help me out!:grouphug:

    Can everyone PLEASE post

I have lost 40 pounds to date and my surgery date was on March 18th. I just got my second fill today and my first last month on 4/15. Sometimes I fill like I have a restriction and other times I dont. Last week I ate a cheeseburger that my hubby grilled (not the best choice) and I ate real slowly and it went down, no problems. But then on Mothers Day I barely ate anything, though I tried. The PA today told me that some people dont start to fill restriction until the 3 or 4th. I am now @ 6ccs total! Good Luck Everyone!

Soxaholic, Fortunately I havent been stuck at all. I chew my food really slowly and make sure its down before I take another fork full. Dont get discouraged about not losing anything now. Remember this is a lifestyle change and just keep up the good work!

Hey All, I was banded on the 18th of March and had my first fill today. My starting weight was 281 and now I am down to 254. I got a 4cc fill but wish I could eat some fish. I am so hungry this evening. Cant wait until I can go back on solids again!
  23. Lauara, Everything you said is right on target with what my Surgeon and medical staff advised me of. When I went in for my consultation I was asked if I wanted Lap Band or Gastric Bypass and I chose the former. He warned me that Lap Band is a tool. I hope that everyone who is in Bandster He!! be patient and realize that getting that Band was for a life change. Another thing I want to mention is to eat your food really really slowly even the mushy food. This also helps so you can realize when you are full. Good Luck Everyone Surgery Date: 03/18/09 Surgery Weight: 281 Current Weight 259 Mini Goal Weight: 230
