    Hi Georgie!
Thank you so much for your reply! I'm sorry that your healing was slowed by other concerns, but I'm glad to hear you're getting there. 🩷
I'm very happy with the food I am getting in and my exercise. I think I have a healthy balance right now where I get at least 80g of protein every day (usually more, if I'm honest). This is what I have to watch out for because too much protein seems to dip back towards too many calories, as my surgeon told me.
I work with a dietician who specializes in PCOS, so I have specific macro goals geared towards that and my bariatric requirements. I'm losing weight steadily - I just got over a stall, and I'm getting closer to a 50 pound weight loss, which is exciting to me. 🤩

    Hey March Sleeves!
For anyone who counts their calories or tracks their food, how many calories do you get in a day? I'm so curious! I'm not being super strict with myself when it comes to calories, but I'm tracking my food and listening to my body to eat slower and only until I'm satisfied, not overfull and to focus on whole foods and eating intuitively. I was sleeved on March 7th, so I'm a little more than 2 months post-op. I eat around 900-1100 calories a day, give or take.
(This isn't for comparison, but more out of curiosity. Sometimes I worry I eat too much, but I'm never grossly full or anything either.)

You have lost more than I have. I am only just recently starting to lose again. I have this grumble in my stomach almost 24/7 and it feels like my stomach is growling but it's not. So I think I am hungry. But I am not.
I can tolerate all foods. I struggle some with eggs.
I also have low energy. I had more before surgery than I do now.

    Thank you.
I just called my insurance company and they quickly with no questions gave me a few names of home healthcare companies in my (very rural) area who cover the area for my PCP to submit the order. No preauthorization required. No more complicated than an Rx. Stress gone. Thank you for suggestions.

Absolutely, the lower your starting BMI the less pounds you are going to loose. In the end the percentage % should be similar but actual pounds/kilos and speed will all vary greatly.
I am going through the same questioning and doubting myself and my approach at 7 was post op. I have been in the hospital 15 days total since surgery (2 readmittance with 5 days stays each time and 5 days at time of sleeve) and am still on IV fluids daily through a PICC line at home. Needless to say I have had a few complications due to a chronic, genetic disease I have which is slowing EVERYTHING down.
I have only lost 10lbs according to the scale since surgery but have lost 14 inches. My Dr is not even concerned about my weight loss because how much fluids I am taking and says inches are always more telling than weight due to Water retention or dehydration but also muscle gain as fat weighs less than muscle so if you are putting on muscle while loosing fat you could actually show an increase on the scale... don't worry. If you are doing everything you are supposed to and following your program, the weight WILL come off. This is a lifelong marathon not a sprint! 💞 Learn to love yourself by caring for your body. You will be transformed!

Oh sweetie don't be frustrated I too was going through those feelings but trust me everybody goes through similar feelings and issues. I was feeling bad because it seem like I wasn't losing enough pounds but you will then all of a sudden I started dropping pounds it will have its slow days sometimes you will seem to be losing a lot then it slows down but trust your body is experiencing all new things. It's very important that no matter what you drink your Protein Shake FIRST EVERYDAY YOUR BODY NEEDS IT 100% .then if you want and can youcan have other foods on your list .I wakeup for Breakfast I take my Vitamins and have a Protein Drink and then 1 hour later if I feel like having something I make me a pakage of instant cream of wheat I use vanilla Protein shake as my milk I can only eat mabe half of the sm pakage a drop a tiny spoon of butter taste good. And you should feel good till lunch .drink plenty of Water im struggling with water intake but it's a big must so you won't be constipated so much I buy Splenda for sugar substitute it's so close to having real sugar no black teas ONLY HERBAL TEAS MAKE SURE YOU BUY EVERYTHING sugar free MO BREADS NO FLOUR PERIOD CORN bread ONLY YOU WILL START DROPPING WEIGHT MEMBER IT TOOK A LONG TIME TO GET WHERE YOU WEAR WITH GAINED WEIGHT IT WILL COME OFF JUST DO WHAT YOU MUST AND LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTORS INSTRUCTIONS YOU MIGHT NOT FEEL YOUR LOSING FAST ENOUGH YOU ARE BE EASY ON YOUR SELF OM HERE TO HELP ANSWER MOST THAT I CAN GOD BLESS GOOD LUCK ON YOUR NEW LIFE 😉

I found this image and it has given me so much comfort.
I've also been doing a lot of Googling bc my surgery center hasn't given much guidance around anything other than Protein and liquid goals.
From what I've read, at this time post-op I should be getting around 500 cals per day, and eating 1/4 c. to 1/2 c. at each sitting (every 3-4 hrs). For reference, I was sleeved on 3/24/23.
I look at multiple sites of reputable surgery centers before I decide what to "believe".
Hang in there friends! We got this!

Thank you! After doing a bit of digging through the forums, I see the typical "3 week stall" all over the place. I'll just keep on keeping on and look forward to the results! Thanks again for the reassurance and encouragement!

You are doing great! This isn't magic and as you've read many times everyone is different. You are still recovery and you just need to be concerned with following your plan and getting your fluids and then Protein. Keep your head up and only weigh once a week. Also remember the lower your BMI the less pounds you are going to loose when comparing yourself (dont) to someone with a much higher BMI. We should be talking about percentages of excess weight instead of pounds/kilos lost. As percentages generally match long term. Increase exercise in small incriminates as you can tolerate and stick to your prescribed diet and you will succeed!

When you guys are talking about how much weight you've lost, are you including what was lost during the pre-op diet as well, or just strictly what you've lost since surgery day? I've been a bit disappointed. I lost 10 before surgery, and 11 after surgery (3/24/23), which I was very pleased with. Week 1 I was still on Clear Liquids, and this week on full liquids, I actually ended up the exact same weight as last week. Just seems really early to be stalling. I'm trusting the process and sticking to the plan, but man it's discouraging.

Christi, I am in the same boat. I was sleeved on 3/9 and have only lost 10lbs! I did not loose ANYTHING for the first 10 days & was completely flat. I was not gone above 500 calories the entire time, and have reached my Protein goal 2 days only. I am 55 yrs old so I knew my weight loss would be slower but it is frustrating when you see other people doing less exercise and more calories and the weight falling off quickly. You are correct, don't compare yourself to anyone. We all have different bodies, different metabolisms, even different body types loss at different rates (eg, apple shape vs pear shape vs extra weight in extremities, etc). We are all different and none of us will have the same experience. Keep your head up, keep working your program and you and I will both get the results in our time! 🤗

So I'm incredibly disappointed in my progress so far. I was sleeved on March 7th and I've only lost 15 lbs. I know everyone is different and we're not supposed to compare but I'm a little panicked.
Would someone mind sharing how they've done this month after surgery?
I did contact my Nutritionist and asked her how many calories I should be eating a day and she said not to worry about that right now. Just concentrate on getting my Protein and Water in, which I am doing.

I was on the 9th as well. However, I am only just being discharged from hospital today. (Various reasons, unrelated to actual VGS). I am feeling the same with my emotions waxing and waning. I am still unsure of myself as I proceed. It is odd that some feel the physical part of this journey is the most difficult (calorie restriction, liquid diet, exercise program, etc) but I am not fing these things as difficult as the emotional/psychological aspects which I am feeling. I feel very lonely.

I am on day 2 post op as well however I am still in the hospital. My bladder has decided to become quite lazy after the anesthesia and is refusing to begin work again quite yet so am having to be straight cathed every few hours u til it begins to respond to its own signals to empty when I am ready.
Other than that, water and my shakes (Orgain plant protein) is going down fairly easy without too much difficulty in 2oz medicine cups every 15 minutes that I am awake. I do still have considerable bloating due to the CO² in my abdomen/torso and have not been able to pass any but my body is absorbing it slowly. I am walking the unit almost every hour while awake however at times I really do feel exhausted but I still feel it is worth it not to lie in the hospital bed.
I still have a very sore throat and am very hoarse from the tubes down my throat during surgery but I have been gargling with warm salt water which feels good and should speed up the healing of this area. Regardingvpain after VGS, (laparoscopy) I can say that I am uncomfortable but not in pain. It is tolerable knowing day to day is is going to ease and all be worth all of the struggles when I reach my goal. It will only be a memory. I am thinking of all of the others who have had surgery this week and those who have their's coming up rapidly and offer encouragement to not be anxious. It is not horrible, nothing to fear. Just ve diligent about working your program and following all of the recommendations put to you from your surgeon and / or your WL clinic to stay disciplined wirh your diet, walk, walk, walk, and use your support systems. Do not be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Allow your body to heal.
    Bless you all. 🙏
